Wanted to ask a question to fellow posters and Eds.

We've been linked to Pogba and we've shown interest in him. No doubt he's an extraordinary talent and lord knows I love him. However, I have to admit that I haven't seen him play a full 90 minutes very often. I tried to watch him during the world cup and he looked good, but I've almost never seen a full game of him playing for Juventus.
Now my question. Are there any of you who often watch the full 90 minutes of his games? Because a few times already I've read comments about him (from people who watch full games, not just his highlights) that he's certainly an incredibly gifted player, but that his highlights cover the fact that he's not (not YET at least) all that he's made out to be.

So if anyone, including Eds if you'd like to comment (I very much appreciate your views on these things), has seen him play extensively, a little round up about his current level would be great :)
Again, I know he's already very good and obviously has a crazy high potential. But is he already the world beater less informed people like me believe him to be?

Thanks for any response :)

Agree0 Disagree0

All I know is that he's overhyped! Not overrated, but overhyped. Like De gea.

He is playing in a poor league, and his highlights make him look like Zidane. He has not hit his defensive game great yet, his positioning and tactical awareness need vast improvement.

He is a box to box mid. Not a defensive mid, not an attacking mid (although he has played there often this year to accomdate MVP of Juve.

He is an incredible talent, and has an absolutely stunning technique with his volleys and shooting.

70 million is too steep, the more I think about it. But he is perfect for the spot next to matic imo, has the long shots of lamps, the runs like yaya, attacking wise he is special.

Again, his defending is not near Matic, but it's good. If we could afford him without disrupting much of our balance (FFP ect), if it doesn't affect us much, he is a must.

I believe it will spell the end of oscar, who I believe we can get 40 million off.

He isn't as good as his highlights show though, and 60 million is incredibly steep.

Cheers, Aron :)

Well imo Hazard, Reus and Pogba are the 3 best young players in world football and it would appear there is a slim chance we may end of with 2 of the 3 if not all 3 of them.

Reus is 26 in May, hardly young.

Hardly old either you don't hit your prime until 28 or so, so I consider him young

In the full games I've seen him with France and Juve this is what I think:

For Juve he plays as the most advanced in a 4 man midfield with pirlo, Vidal, and marchisio. As Aron alluded to his positioning can be suspect on occasion and it's generally no issue with those 3 around him.

He is one heck of a threat from outside the box. This is one area where he would vastly improve us as we don't have anyone that threatens teams from outside the box (don't even give me schurrle).

His ability on the ball is unreal for someone of his size. This translates into the highlight real footage. His ability to spray long passes would've gone a long way before we added matic and Fabregas who are both more than capable.

Physically the guys just a freak. I like what Aron said about yaya toure comparisons. He's strong enough to bully centrehalfs and fast enough to outrun fullbacks.

Overall I would say that he isn't God which he's been portrayed as at times. The lack of talent in Italy combined with the protection he gets wouldn't be the same here. That said his cieling is incredible as his weaker points (defending and positioning) are generally easier to teach.

Thanks for that, TK :) I still want for us to get him, but perhaps not at all cost. 50-60 million is about max I'd pay for him. Varane is probably a bigger 'necessity' right now.

Forget Pogba to expensive plus he still loves MU.We should go for Schneiderlin and Reus if we somehow manage to bring those two players we will rule.

Reus would be great mn. But I would prefer to see Schurrle and Salah leave and Traore and Thorgan Hazard take their spots. I think we have the talent out on loan to fill that role. Traore looks good and I think he could take that RW role off Willian. Agree about Schneiderlin, especially with the amount of games Matic has to play. I think if we could sign Butland, Varane and Schneiderlin that would be a great summer.

{Ed002's Note - Not going to happen.}

Howcome Ed?

{Ed002's Note - Because you are making it up.}

Brilliant lol.

Both too young & too inexperienced unfortunately, we need someone who can come in & do a job right away reus would be that player if he stayed injury free, sad to say but he is a better player than schurrle & salah combined, is there any news/info regarding icardi ed?
