Costas attitude on the pitch is wonderful, the hunger, is top notch. If he can have all that, without the spotting, without the stamping, then we have one of the greatest players in the world.

His hunger gets under the skin of other defenders as teams, and teams and defenders are generally scared of Costa.

He just needs to chomp that side out of his game, he goes over the line sometimes.

Who's better? Aguero or Costa?

I'm going Diego Costa

Agree0 Disagree0

Its ok to be confident in your team and everything but some of your posts are borderline cringeworthy. Diego Costa is a good player but he is not even close to one of the best players in the world. Aguero is better than Costa in almost every aspect. I'm a Chelsea fan through and through but sometimes people go over the top and it doesn't look good on your part

In our current team I would choose Costa, no doubt. He fits the style, and his desire lifts the other players as well. Hazard said something like that in a recent interview, that if you're playing with Costa you can't give anything less than 100%. The pressing, the 'fighting', it all just fits with Mourinho and our team.
However from a purely footballing standpoint, as in talent and technique etc, Aguero is better IMO. His dribbling is amazing, he's strong and his finishing is fantastic.
But in our set up, Costa hands down for me.

They are completely different types of players.

For me aguero is better striker but certain players suit certain teams, chelsea has always looked better with a target man type striker. Costa offers our team so much more than goals, his attitude and hunger to win and press other teams high up the pitch is outstanding. The only reason I said aguero was better was over the space of say five seasons, I think aguero would get more goals. After saying all this would I swap costa for aguero, no chance.

Funny Alpha, never seen you post before, thanks for feedback.

If you've seen my posts before, which I'm assuming you haven't, you'd realise that I have always thought that Aguero was better. He's better in many aspects. True.

Costa has 17 goals, all in open play.
Aguero has 14, 11 from open play.

Aguero has played a lot less minutes however.

This is the first time I've ever said Costa is better by the way, and I'm maintaining my View. He's a better Goalscorer in my opinion.

It's tough though.

Sorry to single you out Aron. You aren't the only one on the site that does this. And trust me, I don't post often but I read almost every post and I have been for around a year and a half. let's wait a couple seasons for Costa to tune himself even more to the league to see if he can become one of the best players in the world. I believe Aguero is a better forward because of his dribbling, finishing and his awesome work rate, where as Costa is strong and possesses great leadership skills. Costa though at times seems he lacks confidence and hesitates on the ball. Forget about stats for one season and look at the whole picture. Aguero has been injured for a bit and is only returning. Again, I didn't want to single you out but it happens a lot and I just wanted to make you aware of how it looks from a different perspective.

No worries Alpha! I didn't get offended at all mate! Post more!

And I've always said Aguero is better. He is an amazing player.

I do this a lot lol, change my mind often.

Costa annoys me in games, he always seems to dribble into defenders and lose the ball. He finished brilliantly though, and is a nightmare for opposition defenders.

It was Definetely Bias from me, I'm just super pumped for this game tonight, don't hold me to this, I've always said Aguero is better lol

Again, don't apologise :) keep posting, enjoyed your replies here :).

I would say that Costa is a better player simply due to injury record alone. Whilst Aguero has a better goals/minutes ratio, I can't remember a season now, in which he hasn't been out injured for around 2 months. Just look at City and see how they've struggled with him out the team, then having to try and fit him back into the team. I'd rather have a striker who's dependable, and in the end most likely going to score the most goals.
That said, if the choice was between an injury-free Aguero and Costa, I'd likely chose Aguero.

Most people have made really good points. Costa provides a target man and a frontman that will run through a wall to press the opposition. That said if there's a chance at somebody's feet and I need them to bury it give me aguero. They both miss games for different reasons but agueros propensity for injuries is a major worry. For us i'd take diego but for a team like barca or real i'd take aguero.

I would just say that Costa could cut out a bit of his aggression in order to stay on the pitch more, Aguero can't do much to help his injury proneness.
