Lying in bed trying to think of words to describe the game tonight and I honestly cannot. Horrible? Tragic? Embarrassing? Any one of those words can be used unfortunately.
I went into the game tonight confident. Carrying over a 1-1 draw from Paris I thought the only way we would suffer was is if Zlatan showed up so you can imagine how buzzing I was when he got sent off, (despite the frankly appalling reaction from our players).
How wrong was I of course!
Tactically tonight there are no words to describe how bad we were and as much as we chelsea fans love him there is no one else to blame but Mourinho. So slow, boring, negative, bitter, lacklustre just downright shocking. I don't understand Mourinho at all. At his disposal he has a fantastic wealth of attaking talent yet constantly sets them up so negatively. Even if we win the PL this year I wouldn't be surprised to see someone like Hazard going to a team like PSG in search of attacking football despite the fact he just signed a new contract. How would any player out there be tempted to come to our club and play that kind of football because let's be honest it isn't going to change guys. hell Di Matteo got sacked after winning the CL with us and he played better football haha.
After the game I didn't even bat an eyelid. We deserved to go out and anyone who says we didn't is stupid. Any team who plays at home with in my opinion a better squad and one more man on the field and gets outplayed in every sense of the word does not deserve to go through and complete with the likes of Barca, Madrid and Bayern. I couldn't face playing that style of football against another team and hearing everyone talk about how boring and shit Chelsea are to watch because as much as I love Chelsea football club I can't help but agree with them. The club isn't going forward at all. We are going backwards and I don't care if you disagree with me because I'm right.
This wasn't just a poor performance tonight that has brought this out in me tonight, it's been the past few months, we have been very poor. Constantly grinding out results against teams we should be wiping the floor with realistically. I'm actually starting to believe Mourinho makes games hard for himself and for the team so that if he wins he looks a genius. I think he sets his teams up with to much fear and respect of the opponent rather than riling them up saying we can beat anyone etc because let's be honest lads, look at our squad for Gods sake its 1 or 2 more players away from being Dream worthy but we play like a league 1 team. I would rather go out fighting than get through being a bitch. I want to win titles demolishing opposition like we should be doing rather than winning them in vain with people talking about how boring we are and how much we didn't deserve to win it. I look at our team and I see so much ability being wasted with backwards tactics. The best teams in the world attack first defend later. We defend. Attacking is a word I rarely use when describing our team these days. Defenders constantly bailing us out of games with goals because these days we unfortunately just can't score anything other than corners or penaltys.
I'm sorry for ranting lads and wether you agree or disagree with me you have to admit we need a change and it needs to happen soon otherwise it's going to be a very long boring slippery slope.

You're right it's terrible. When you see us having to rely on Ivanovic for goals that's really poor

Again, we lost from a good position due to something decisive happening and us not reacting. Same with Spurs away when we took the lead. We sat off, let them play. Same with Bradford, took a lead and then sat off. With Ibra, his sending off was probably the best thing for PSG, before it the game had been even with no chances. Ibra getting sent off riled them. It almost seemed to deflate us. In my opinion, the game changing moment, was either then or the Costa penalty shout.
Having said that, questions that need answering:
How did Verrati, Oscar, Luiz and Costa all stay on the pitch but Ibra didn't? And why did the referee allow PSG to act so ridiculously after Silva scored?

Seriously buddy? Talk about a Knee-Jerk

It was Embarrasing, but Mourinho making games hard for himself to make himself look like a genius, oh come on

Grow some balls, accept defeat, it happens. Take it on the chin and applaud opposition

When we win the league by 10 + points, please don't praise Mourinho.

Aron, he does have a point in the sense that there needs to be a change. We haven't looked good in an attacking way for quite some time now. Winning the CL is always a long shot, but going out in the round of 16 hurts for me. Every year IMO, we should at least make it to the quarters or the semis. But it's done, so no point in whining over it.
I just hope we get back to playing good football in the League, we need it. A lot of players have to pick up their game, seriously. Oscar hasn't looked good, Ramires wasn't good last night, Willian had a tough time attacking with Ivanovic providing less support than usual etc.
Costa looked a little better, but we don't create any chances for him. We have to do better. And he also needs to dial it down a little on the pitch. He could've very easily been sent off for that shove on Marquinhos, it was so stupid. He just can't do that.

We were outplayed by 10 men. The best team on the night went through.

12 Mar 2015 07:50:09
Agree 100% Jackson. I would hope Mourinho seriously thinks about Cuadrado, RLC, Christiansen and even Remy in the next few games.

Sorry, but can the original poster explain exactly how we are going backwards? I'm confused by that argument. A month or so ago (after Swansea) everyone was saying how far we had come this season.
If we win the league, I highly doubt Hazard will go. He himself has always vetoed a return to France because of his success there, I expect his next move to be in maybe summer 2017 or 18 to either Germany (Bayern to replace Robben/Ribery?) or Spain (Most likely Real to replace Ronaldo?). If that move doesn't happen, I don't think he will move from Chelsea. Especially if he keeps finding success here.

Another thing. I thought Remy had to come on and not Drogba. I love Drogba but I just don't think he's mobile enough to play in these games. He can still be effective as an impact sub in games where the opposition sits back, but yesterday he was just too slow IMO. I kind of feel for Remy, the guy has played well whenever given a chance but Mourinho doesn't give him time on the pitch.

Sorry but you can't be serious when you say accept defeat. I would accept defeat if we gave it our all, played attacking football and at least looked like we wanted to go through. We were favourites when they had 11 men and when they went to 10 there was no doubt in anyone's mind that chelsea realistically should've walked that game. Backwards tactics, boring football, slow paced football (which seems to be quite familiar these days) are ruining us. We had more than a week off to prepare for this game and get rid of any nigling bugs in our play and any tiredness but we looked like we had played the night before.
And CFC forever get real mate. Wether it be France, Germany or Spain Hazard will leave in search of a better brand of football I can guarantee you that. Hazard is a future ballon d'or winner and he ain't going to win in it playing for us unless we play good free flowing attacking football which unfortunately my friend ain't going to happen. We have the foundations (and more) for us to play excellent football but it's not going to happen and it saddens me because there is so much ability not getting aloud to flourish under this style of football. I come on here every week and read people talking about how Oscar, Willian, Hazard and Costa etc (all our attacking players) having good games because they tracked back well and helped the team out. Really? I don't care what anyone says Oscar has the ability to be one of the best Attacking mids in the world and he's not being aloud to show it. Willian I can guarantee has all the ability and flare to run at players and beat them and be a real winger but he's being discouraged to do so. All our players I guarantee if they were aloud to play the right way would be so much better and you all know it. I mean for gods sake look at Salah, our apparent weakest link in terms of wingers is tearing it up somewhere else playing better football and there is actually people on this site who are talking about bringing him back. We are ruining great players and it's sad to see and it's going to continue to happen.

12 Mar 2015 10:36:22
Oscar was playing well in first half, we collapsed when he came off

12 Mar 2015 11:33:53
Eastonman, Salah is now in a poor league, where space is offered, would that happen in the EPL?

12 Mar 2015 14:09:58
How many goals did Salah score for Basel when he played them? 2 or 3 and we are an EPL team so your argument is invalid. The goals he scored against us are one of the reasons he signed for us.

What?
