Opinions on falcao transfer?

I'm not happy about it at all!

Agree0 Disagree1

If he's third choice behind Remy to start the season, then I'm all for it. If Remy leaves because of Falcao then I don't support the move :-)
It probably helped though in sending one or more young players there on loan, and if they gain game time there then it's a good move IMO. It could work out and there's practically no risk if Remy stays as well.

{Ed002's Note - The expectation is that Remy will go.}

Shame if Remy leaves. he's the best 2nd choice striker we've had since Anelka

Other than Remy leaving, which he might have done anyway to seek starting opportunities, I don't see that we have much to loose by this deal. Should Remy leave we'll either sign another striker or youth (Bamford, Traore) will be given a crack at the 3rd striker role - producing youth into the 1st team is something fans have been calling out for.

The fee paid for Falcao has been mitigated by the fact we've sent a player to Monaco on loan. That player being Pasalic, who had an excellent season at Elche and will only benefit from a year at a better club playing European football. In a years time there's a great chance he'll be preparing for a season in the Chelsea squad - making us stronger in he future.

I wouldn't be opposed to Musonda going there on loan as well, if they actually want him. It'd be an agressive loan but he's just so good. And there's another Belgian there as well in Carrasco so perhaps that'd help him settle.
And yeah, Ed002. I realise Remy will probably leave but I'm still hoping he stays. I really like him as a second striker option. So yeah, call it a fool's hope ;-)

Ed002 can you give any insight at all into the Falcao signing? Although a once great player, it looks highly likely that the knee injury has affected him for the long term. Why would Chelsea look to let Remy go when he is a very effective squad striker and bring in someone who is fading and on a five month goal drought?

{Ed002's Note - Remy and Falcao are two separate matters. Don't try and tie the two together.}

Thanks for the quick response Ed002. In that case, is it just a straightforward case of Jose thinking that he can coach Falcao back to some type of form?

{Ed002's Note - The expectation is that he will perform when called upon.}

I would expect that the club would seek to buy another striker if Remy were to be sold, so I don't believe it'll be a case that if Costa is out, all the pressure is on Falcao.

{Ed018's Note - or Traore would be a third choice striker}

Thanks Ed002. I appreciate your help.

Give Falcao a chance. Tbh we are lucky to have someone like him. not.many good strikers would want to be a 2nd striker because that's wht he's going to be. Costa is nunber one.
