I can understand the desire to buy John Stones although £34m is way too expensive for an unproven 21 year old and the statistics for last season indicating he performed better than John Terry are misleading as he 'had' to make more interceptions, tackles etc given his team's performance, however, I am baffled as to why we would want Rahman, another 21 year old playing for an average Bundesliga team who has less than 125 senior appearances to his name. Nobody would disrupt our defence to put him in at left back.

That my friend is the scouting teams job & the staff at Chelsea or any other team to watch these players & if Chelsea are willing to buy these two young guys then who are we to question them? Zouma played in an equally average team & fair to say he was unproven but look how good a buy he turned out to be? Is it me or am I the only Chelsea fan amongst a few others that actually have faith in what this club is trying to achieve? There's no positivity & it's starting to really get on my tits to be honest!

Totally agree situation88. It seems that there are a lot of people on here who play to much football manager and won't be happy till we sign Messi , Ronaldo and Neymar.
They need to wake up and get in the real world.
The constant whining and questioning of the clubs transfers this year is getting very boring. No wonder the eds get fed up!

Exactly mate, I know it's people's opinions but come on at least be realistic, it's like they think they could run the club better & think money grows on trees, just a little bit of faith wouldn't go a miss, need to remember this squad will only get better the more they play together hence why we don't just go round buying everybody as its only minor improvements need to be made from a team who completely walked the league last season, I'm excited for pre season!

Agree with u situation88. That's why they are employed and we r not.

Trust the club and mourinho. Mourinho don't need big names to win the league.

Look wht he done with porto and even inter. Mancini tried for years with Inter and mourinho comes in and win's the treble.

Spot on mate I rest my case :) no doubt it will be tougher this year but I'm not overly worried at all

Well said Sit88. Been my thoughts for a long time and I posted something similar a while back. We are the Champions and have a great Manager and coaching/scouting/academy set-up and the rest are playing catch-up. Let's enjoy our great club and watch the season un-fold.

I admit I haven't seen Rahman play. But I've read excellent things about him. One thing in particular that stood out to me that his defending is his key attribute, and nowadays that's becoming more rare in fullbacks. The attacking part of their game is often prioritised but to me (and probably to Mourinho as well) the defending side is most important for defenders. Apparently that's the case with Rahman and I believe he'd be an excellent player for us. He's really athletic as well.

Personally I don't think Stones is worth that amount of money but we do lack HG players. Yes we have a great academy with good upcoming players but they're still a few years away from being even squad players. Rahmann is coming in to be back-up for Azpi for a year, until Iva leaves or switches to CB.

Well Situation88 my friend you got your feelings off your chest. As this is a forum for discussing 'all' things Chelsea, good, bad and indifferent which 70% of the subscribers do, you do not seem to enjoy it. My opinion was soliciting an opinion about Stones value and what I consider an apparent interest in Baba Rahman which many others do regularly. I am sure at the end of last season Witsel, Pedro or Rahman would not have been on many, if anybody's 'must have' list although possibly yours as I seem to remember you being 'excited' to see that £26m donkey Cuadrado play.
