What's the reaction if we were to secure Stones by offering cash and Cahill?

Agree1 Disagree2

None, because we need one more defender and Stones is probably the one.Moses is more likely to be offered to Everton. Plus Everton must find replacement for Stones.

No not for me, Cahill is not rated by a lot of fans but for me if our next game was against barca, I'd rather have Cahill playing than John stones. Stones looks calm and likes to pass the ball out from the back but lacks valuable experience which will only come in time. But if Chelsea are willing to pay £40m for a player then I can't see him being on the bench.

I've always admired how Cahill will just throw himself in front of the ball to block and he's hard as nails but he does tend to switch off

Cahill is a world class shot blocker and it's true that he's a warrior who will throw his body into the line of fire but a good(not even great) defender has to do more that just retreat and concede space and then try to do the goalkeeper's job. He's below average when taking on players especially 1 on 1 and his change of direction is slow and he sometimes takes bad angles which is bad for a cb. An example is the first goal conceded to Aguero against City, Aguero was dribbling from Cahill's right to left across the top of the 18 and he was marking him. Once Aguero got a little passed the center of goal Terry stepped up to double and instead of using/trusting his partner to contain Aguero or block a right footed attempt on his side, Cahill committed himself to Terry's side and allowed Aguero to do a simple stop and reverse and less than two steps later could roll a left-footed shot in the bottom corner without Cahill even having a chance at a block. I'm sorry, and I know Aguero's a very good player, but that's the type of poor defending I've seen from Cahill for the last 3 seasons despite our team success. He was even worse for England at the world cup. He's also good at defending set pieces, again sacrificing his body, but the small, quick, skilled players up front for Barca would eat him alive.

Cahill is a good last minute tackler/ shot blocker but if he was better defensively he wouldn't be forced into such actions so often.

Well put Fuser, made me feel a silly for writing a book but I just wanted to rant a little.

To be fair the forwards at barca would eat any defender alive Cahill done well at Chelsea he's a good lad I don't see the need to be to harsh on him remember when he came first he had to play with David Luiz anyone would look bad playing with him cause he was so exposed over Luiz been rational
