How good is pogba defensively as from all of the highlights of him I've seen he looks a bit rash when tackling and doesn't have much of defensive work rate, . I might be wrong and tell me if I am. If we need someone to shore up the mid then witsel is probably the best short term solution. I understand pogba would be the best long term signing and is world class now but I'm just not sure about his defensive work.

Agree0 Disagree1

The best short term solution is Loftus-Cheek but he won't be given a chance.

Better than fabregas

Why is Ruben the best option when Jose had to publicly call him out for too much standing around and not enough work rate when he doesn't have the ball. I'm not saying he can't become that player for us but where is the evidence that he can walk into our 1st team as a DM next to Matic.

Mourinho called him out because he rates him I though that was obvious. He done the same to Hazard two years ago and look how hard he worked,

If all you've seen if Pogba is highlights, I'd assume its the same if Witsel, and its probably best not to pass comment on who would be 'the best long term solution'.

Probably one of my biggest pet hates. People making statements on the ability of players, they have never seen play.

MagicalEden while Jose does like and rates RLC he called him out because it was true, the same with Hazard 2 years ago when he wasn't tracking back and working hard for the team. Hazard to his credit took it to heart and worked hard to make himself a more complete player.

Don't understand people's love for Witsel all of a sudden. From what I've seen of him in the champions league over the years, he is average at best. To be honest we are better off with what we have over signing him.

Witsel is an ok midfielder. Don't get me wrong if he came here to be a bench warmer, I'm fine with that but to even consider him starting. In a our midfield is quite worrying people want him here for that.

I think it falls into the same category Blueboy. People here a name and want a shiny new toy so just jump onboard. Rahman is a perfect example. I would predict one or two posters, at most, have seen him play. At most. Yet everyone puts him in their starting XI.

Its why the eds are generally the only source I will listen to regarding a players quality. Most posters will just post stuff they've read and make it seem like they know everything about every player. If the Eds haven't seen someone play, or not enough to judge them, they say so. Ed001 does it constantly, and so when he says something about a player (Fabregas will go missing) I find its almost always spot on.

Melbourne, I agree with most you said. But on your Rahman point. A lot of people probably would want him to start because Ivanovic has been dreadful for 3 games now. I think most just figure Rahman couldn't possibly be worse right now :-)

I kniw Jackson. But we were linked to Rahman before the season started, and he was already in peoples XI.

It was just an example, but just watch how frequently when a club is linked with a somewhat unknown player, how quickly the fans praise the new toy, and pass judgement on his ability, when they've never seen them play. Its ridiculous

That's definitely true, I won't argue with that :-)
I think it's in the nature of football fans. There's a new signing, most are very excited and in that excitement we tend to go overboard. I'm guilty of the same thing myself from time to time. It'll lessen once he starts a few games for us. Right now we can only guess how he'll turn out for us, but I wouldn't be opposed to seeing him start against Palace. Can you imagine what Zaha/Bolasie will do to Ivanovic on the wing? That won't be pretty ;-)

They can anything they want to any player who is left to be 1 on 2 against opposition. In May they've looked harmless but our midfield played far better defensively then presently.
