If we could find Zouma the perfect CB to play alongside him who would you sign. Ivanovic having a decent game doesn't make up for half a season of being positionally poor. I'd still prefer to see Azpi/Baba as full backs. Terry seems to be getting phased out whether he retires at the end of the season I don't know. And I think Djilobodji looks like a cheaper player we signed who'll just end up going on loan. Cahill's been great this season but I think we all know he's not the long term solution.

I'd like us to find a ball playing centre back at their peak to partner him. I don't think Stones is the answer because then their would be two inexperienced centre halfs together. Just wondered who everyone's choices would be I'd go for Leonardo Bonucci of Juventus. A fantastic player. A former midfielder who is usually deployed as ball-playing centre back, he is known for his technique, passing range, and his ability to launch an attack with long ball passes. A tall and strong defender, he also excels in the air, and frequently poses a threat from set pieces. His style of play has led him to be compared to Gaetano Scirea.

Obviously there is no interest but it's just who I'd like to see partner him. Who would be yours.

Bonucci or Chiellini would be magnificent, but I don't think they'd want to leave Juventus. Jerome Boateng could be a good shout, but I don't see him leaving Bayern either. Hummels would also be a good option. He's a real leader and is used to playing a high line even though he's a bit slow. His technique on the ball is also excellent. I like Laporte's profile as well.
My choice is still Varane. He may be young but he's got a lot of experience already and is only going to get better and better.

Chiellini's a bit old for me, Bonucci's 28 which is a good age. I agree about Hummels Jackson it's just his injuries that worry me. I really like Laporte and Varane but the same as with Stones there won't be much experience in the back line apart from Azpilicueta.

Stones then Varane - Cause his composure shows that he is ready for this level of football and Cahill can provide the rotational back up needed when Terry and Iva finish their time.

I think we should try again for Stones next summer this time with more urgency as I believe we left it too late for Everton to deal this past transfer window. As for Stones lacking experience I don't think that is going to be an issue as Cahil will still be around and will rotate with Stones and Zouma where needed that's if Terry is no longer around. If Stones or any other young defender should come to Chelsea they won't become an automatic first choice with Zouma, they will both earn it and get the needed experience during that period. I don't see a lack of experience as a problem if you are good enough as even the experienced guys even make the odd mistakes here and there.

Stones or Varane - I have also been very impressed with Everton's Brendan Galloway this season but we would come up against the same problem we had with Stones.
