I watched the match. It seems it just won't click for you. I don't watch every Belgium match but I've heard lots of complaints that Wilmots tactics are usually bad. Hazard wasn't great but still one of the brighter Belgian players. Lots of missed chances, Benteke with 2 sitters both off target. When Mertens came on he changed the game.
I have a question for you Jackson. Are your natural full backs so bad that you have to play Vertonghen and Alderweireld there? I've heard that Jordan Lukaku is quite good so why doesn't he get a game?

Belgium has amazing players!Probably the best in Europe. But they don't look like a team.
About Benteke it was very difficult to score from those 2 opportunities I would hardly call them sitters.
Belgium couldn't break Finland's 3 in the back with single striker only when they started to play with 2 strikers they've managed to create and score.

The header that Benteke missed was certainly a sitter, was a shocking effort. The other one was fizzed across the box and was a more difficult chance but all it needed more more contact, he definitely should've scored both of them. Finland were good defensively in fairness. As I said, Mertens changed the game. The goal was a fluke though.

Wilmots is rubbish tactically, I've been saying it since before the world cup and these last few months people are finally starting to catch on.
But he doesn't get helped by the fact that our natural fullbacks aren't good at all. Jordan Lukaku has potential, but I don't think he's good enough defensively to play against the biggest teams. They'd probably constantly target him and attack through his side. Maybe Pocognoli deserves a shot but I haven't seen him play this season so can't comment on how he's done.
As for right back, I don't even know what natural option there is. Meunier gets played there but he used to be an attacking player and I don't believe he's very good as a right back. I'd play Denayer on the right since he's got some good speed, and that way Alderweireld can play centrally. l
So while I don't like Wilmots as coach, he doesn't have much choice but to play CBs as fullbacks in my opinion. And that doesn't help the attacking play either.
