I am going to say a few things and I don't care what people think.

-I am worried about the club's recruitment policy and their ability to obtain the number one targets.

-I don't think the club realise that if you want a top centre half nowadays, the starting point is going to £40-50m. Koulibaly looks doubtful now and we are left pursuing players who are, quite frankly, not good enough such as lindelov and de vriji. We should have got John Stones but failed.

-The club seems to go after easy targets as opposed to challenging for the players that can make an instant impact and improve us immediately. We should have got Pogba last year, but failed.

-I genuinely fear that we can not, or simply, will not compete at the top table anymore when it comes to attracting talent, Kante aside, when was the last time we signed a player top clubs were after, Eden Hazard, four years ago.

-Maybe the desire is just not there anymore from the club and they are content not being the best.

-We have missed out on Stones, Marquinhos, Pogba, GrIezmann etc because the club pissed about and squabled on.

{Ed018's Note - not sure that I'd say Lindelof isnt good enough. The club tried very hard to get Pogba last summer. No offense but this sounds like a bunch of whining to me}

The summer transfer window just started for 3 weeks, we already bought 2 amazing players and some people are whining. Wow, great, we should buy all Stones, Griezmann, Marqinhos and Pogba to make them please. Wake up guys, the whole club is valued at £1.6 billion and those 4 will cost 20% of the club value already.

{Ed018's Note - is also like to add that Stones last season looked very average}

24 Jul 2016 04:14:51
Yup, he was mostly sitting on the bench and some people still want him. Pogba is totally overating player. When Bale, Neymar or Ronaldo, Suarez get that high price, they are totally dominating their league.

Griezmann is the really good one - but we have no CL football? How can he come here?

24 Jul 2016 05:10:10
No one wants him but West upper, the dude can't post anything with Stones name it, he must have a man crush or something.

Reason why I don't post during the transfer window, some people act like little kids in a toy store. Unbelievable.

24 Jul 2016 07:49:35
Sometimes you should just be greatfull with what you have! If you've been a Chelsea supporter for the last decade you've seen the club win everything in Europe!

One poor season with no silverwear, plus us missing out on a couple of targets, and those fans who have been going to the bridge since before Abramovich took over have to go round picking up the toys you've thrown out the pram! Try thinking about the situation the club was in just before Abramovich took over and where we would be today if he hadn't have done so - Aston Villa's or Leeds situations come to mind.

24 Jul 2016 07:55:43
On a side note about lindelof I don't believe he is good enough, especially not worth £25 million. He has only just broken into the benfica team and only played 15 league games last season and has also only played 6 times for Sweden and on the games I have seen him in he has looked extremely average.

24 Jul 2016 08:42:32
A nonsense post. Fact is, if we paid what they wanted for Pogba everyone would say we'd overpaid. Club can't win when fans take an attitude like this.

24 Jul 2016 10:19:06
Why not just recall Christensen who I think is better than Stones anyway? Instead of buying another average defender, why not develop the ones you already have?

24 Jul 2016 10:46:08
Bloody hell there's so much negativity on this page at the moment, anyone would think we're on the Arsenal page! I've said all I can say already so there's no point in me adding to this but have some optimism guys! At least wait until a few games into the season or the end of the transfer window before you moan! Stop being so impatient and have some faith.

24 Jul 2016 11:03:43
Christensen is on a two season loan and as such, is not available this coming season. We have some good academy prospects in Tomori and Clarke-Salter. Tomori may well challenge as the season progresses.

24 Jul 2016 11:59:38
It is not a nonsense post. We will see who is right come the end of the window.

-We are not the club we were pre Roman. Times change and expectations change. I shouldn't have to say this but I supported this club long before Roman so you are preaching to the wrong choir. We are consistently missing out on our top targets, there is no getting away from that whether you like it or not. Something has to give or our negotiation team need changing.

-I have no "man crush" on John Stones. However, if the club decided he was the man to get, they should have made an offer Everton could not refuse like Man City are about to do and got him while we could. We failed, end of. let's see if Stones is 'average' when Guardiola has him playing like Pique next season and he is not playing for an inept manager such as Martinez.

-Failing that, there was no back up plan. A hit and hope bid for Marquinhos was never going to go well so late in the window. Ed002 has said him not coming here is not about finance, so that is that.

-If Lindelov and De Vriji are good enough, how come Real, Barcelona and Bayern are not banging down the door trying to get them. If we want to be considered in the same bracket as those clubs, we can not sign 'class b eggs'. This is the problem that Leicester have given us, owners will turn round and say 'If Leicester did it with their players so can you'. It has provided an excuse for them not to invest. Leicester are the exception, not the rule.

-The plan for this window should be to sign a top drawer central defender and a striker regardless of Christensen and players such as Traore, and the cost. We have the money to do it.

-I understand that we can not sign the world and its dog so I am not "kid in a toy store", just a supporter who wants the very best for the club and not to be playing second fiddle. In football, if you are not swimming, you are sinking. We must keep striving forward and constantly improve year in year.

-Pogba may be overpriced and I know that ship has sailed long ago but his price is the going rate for elite players who their clubs have no obligation to sell. Either we pay for our top targets or we miss out. Being idealistic in an unidealistic market will get us nowhere.

-Either we go one way or the other, we accept we no longer eat at the top table and lower our expectations whilst utilising our vast amount of talent in our academy and our loan players or we adopt the same approach that the other top clubs, previously mentioned, are taking with their spending whilst staying within our limits.

-At the moment it seems that we are stuck in the middle and we are capable of forking out a considerable sum for Batshuayi and yet seem not willing to do so for a top central defender such as Koulibaly, who we need more. We are living in the past if we think a top centre back is going to cost £25-30m.

-The same applies for an elite centre forward such as Morata. Either pay the going rate or not. Don't try and half ass it with a player not good enough but who is easy to obtain.

-I said this summer is going to be the most important in the Roman era and I stand by that. Kante is an excellent acquisition and Batshuayi is promising but we simply must go after an elite central defender and centre forward and not squabble. If is approaching piss or get of the pot time if we are serious about challenging this season, there is no denying that whether people like it or not. Time will tell.

24 Jul 2016 12:37:11
Sorry but the original poster of these needs to take some advice from above posts and stop flapping, as someone said three weeks in we have two top targets. I agree pogba is a good player, but worth 120 million I think not. Look at euros when pressure was on he did not perform, however when Kante came on the difference was notable. Who did we buy, kante.
As for comment about stones they are welcome to him, I agree with above overrated and prone to stupid mistakes. Another season and Christiansen will be ready. You also need to remember we're not in champs league and that will stop some players sighting.
Give it a few weeks and it will all be good.
By the way anyone know why our games against Madrid and ac don't appear to be live but all other games for other teams are.

24 Jul 2016 13:00:44
We definitely should NOT recall Christensen. If a club negotiates a 2 year loan deal with us and we just ignore that to recall him (if we even can, which isn't a certainty) that would have such horrible consequences for future loans-why would anyone loan a player from us again if we take them back the second they play well?

24 Jul 2016 13:35:42
I have a question for you original poster, how many times have you actually seen Koulibaly play to be moaning so much about how we won't pay £50m for him? That is an immense sum of money for a player who hasn't been around for very long. The club have done brilliantly so far. Players like Lindelof and De Vrij have been linked to top teams previously as well so I don't understand your point. Maybe the club should just splash £100m on every player the daily mail says Barcelona are interested in?

24 Jul 2016 15:23:23
I have seen Koulibaly on numerous occasions through watching Italian football, thanks for asking. Again, I am not moaning, but I will call a spade a spade and say it how it is.

I agree, it is a ridiculous amount of money but, here is my point, it is the going rate thanks to every club in the premier league having a huge injection of cash.

Is Kouibaly worth £50m or whatever it is that fruitcake De Laurentiis is demanding? Abslulutely not. However, in a market where Stones is probably going for around £50m, Napoli can take advantage of a shortage of elite central defenders and increase their demands, basic economics. The same applies to other cases, such as Morata and Real Madrid. We either pay it or we don't. But we should not half ass it by buying a player of lesser quality but who is easy to obtain such as Djilobodji.

I agree, the club have done well so far. So far being the important words. However it is not enough to challenge on all fronts, for the reasons I have said before. I can only hope they get what the starting 11, not the squad, needs before the window ends.

Lindelov and De Vriji were linked to Utd under Van Gaal not "numerous top teams". I don't read papers as such so I don't know who Barcelona, Bayern or Real are linked to on daily basis. Perhaps you could shed light on that?

I never said the club should "splash £100m" on the players other top teams want. I am objective, not delusional.

However, there are correlations in the types of players the top teams want and both Lindelov and De Vriji would be disappointing considering the quality of player we were previously linked to such as Varane and Marquinhos.

It would be 'Groundhog Day'where Lindelov or De Vriji would be this season's Djilobodji after missing out again on our primary targets.

Either we pay the going rate or we don't. I don't want to become Arsenal by the club being run like a bank. The club are trying to be reasonable in an unreasonable market.

24 Jul 2016 19:23:04
WestUpper, I sit in the West Lower so maybe it's because we sit in the same stand we see things in a similar light. I actually agree with your sentiments. We are in the business part of the summer and if we don't do all of the business that is needed now then it's no use the board blaming Conte come December or February time when we are falling short.

There is no doubt that we aren't as ruthless or successful in making transfers happen as we used to be. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope that the board react positively to the meeting post the Vienna match and the requests that Mr Conte made.

24 Jul 2016 19:50:51
They're someone who didn't care what anyone else thought! This is a lot of noise from someone who names themselves after the quietest corner of the bridge!

24 Jul 2016 19:53:56
Cheers Titan. We all just want the best for the club and we have different opinions on how to get there. However, as you said, there is no point in the board holding Conte solely responsible should things turn south around Christmas time, having not delivered what was needed. He will not be a magician.

24 Jul 2016 20:15:23
What part of the ground do you sit in J? Not sure why you're having a dig at someone for having their own opinion.

25 Jul 2016 09:55:44
Matthew Harding lower. The quietest corner of the bridge comment was just friendly banter - this is the banter page after all!

I stand by my other comment. People have become too aclimatised to the club paying silly money for their targets. It's been said many times that Chelsea will no longer be held to ransom by clubs. By all accounts we agree a fee with Napoli for Koulibaly and Napoli then put the price up. I say good on the club for refusing to be dragged into that kind of business.

25 Jul 2016 12:45:23
The East Stand is commonly known as the quietest stand in the ground and has been for years now. Strange that you think it's the West but fair enough.

I respect your opinion but I disagree on the supposed righteousness or success of our transfer business. If our new head coach can see that our squad isn't good enough and needs additions, informs the powers that be but ultimately the players don't arrive then we have a real problem. The likes of Barcelona, Bayern and Juventus have been very astute and quick in getting their business done. Forget about our lack of European football for a moment and you can see that we are not operating with the same success, especially as it has been clear for a long time what positions needed attention.

The fact that we can't move some players on is also a concern I believe but slightly removed from this topic.
