Here's a good debate I'm interested in. Is Chalobah more ready than Loftus-Cheek and should he start for us next season because IMO I'd like to see a 3 man midfield of Chalobah, Kante and Fabregas although people may know I'm not Fabregas's biggest fan.

Yes I think so. RLC is a good player but needs to sort his attitude out a bit. Very lazy at times. I personally think he plays on confidence, take the under 21s he's knows he is to good for that level and it's shows it but when he plays with the big boys he hides.

Chalobah has been excellent this pre season . I hope Conte will give him a chance, but it's typical of chelsea to just loan them out.

I think Ruben will turn out to be the better player though at this moment in time I believe Chalobah is more ready. He's looked like a man on a mission this pre season and has impressed massively. Both have the potential to be world class though in my opinion.

Yes. Chalobah seems way more mature, which is normal seeing as he's probably played around 100 professional games already while RLC may have 15-20.
Conte appears to like the 424 formation, and I think Fabregas and Oscar are a liability defensively to play in that midfield 2. Chalobah-Kante could be a very good midfield. Both players are very good defensively (Chalobah was great against Madrid and just in general this preseason) and Chalobah can really pick out some great passes and has shown that he can hit it from outside the box and join in attack.
RLC can stay with the squad, but he has to be a rotation option at best. He doesn't look ready to start games consistently. But being only 20 he's got time to get there and great potential.

I sincerely hope Conte has the guts to play Chalobah with either Matic or Kante against West Ham, because he's been our best midfielder this preseason.

It's not really a debate IMO. Chalobah seems to have sorted his focus and attitude out, he's always had the talent. What's often been his issue is that when he returns from a loan, next pre-season he was often played as a defender (his initial position when he came through the youth ranks) . As a midfielder (his later, arguably more natural position), he has tactical awareness and good ability - I think his loan to Italy, arguably helped even though he didn't play much.

RLC on the other hand has never really had a defined role in midfield. He often played deeper alongside Baker and Houghton (later Colkett) . He is crying out to be played as a box to box player but needs to be in a 3 whilst his tactical awareness is maturing.

I think Baker is above both of them if I'm being honest; he has all the tools to replace Fabregas, he just needs to be given a decent opportunity.

Charlie Colkett and Mukhtar Ali are the next in line to be pushing for recognition from the Youth Academy,

In summary, my most-ready to least-ready would be:

Baker > Chalobah > RLC > Colkett > Ali.

I also think tbf to RLC he's being played out of position I'd like to see himplay a bit deeper as i feel the game passes him bye a lot of the time maybe trying him deeper might get him involved more.

Loftus cheek can't play number 10 with his back to goal a lot, he needs decent time in central midfield, mourinho way of playing would have suited loftus cheek, I'm hoping conte sees his role as a box to box. As for fabregas, blame that on the rest of the midfield. How many times I have seen cesc in space in behind opponents midfield, yet mikel, Matic or Ramires passed backward. Can you really blame him?

Yes. Chalobah is looking the part.

Chalobah can solve a lot of issues in terms of squad balance imo. Hugely beneficial to our thin squad (excluding bought for profit loans) . However, having heard Conte speak of RLC I think he is being seriously considered as a first 11 player. Exciting times ahead now we have a manager whom will embrace our prospects. Aina, Chalobah and RLC will likely have caps by the end of the year if included as expected.

This is one of the most intriguing questions in terms of what will happen with the squad. It seems pretty evident that conte is trying to establish a 442 (424, etc. ) which limits the number of midfielders needed. As of right now we have Fab, Kante, Matic, Oscar, and Mikel in addition to Nate and it doesn't take an accountant to see that those numbers don't add up. Compare that with the striking department which is where Conte is having RLC line up and there's a little bit less of a logjam for spots. We currently have Diego, Michy, Traore, and Remy and of that group Costa has significant interest (albeit he would be replaced), Remy will most likely be sold, and even Traore is rumored to have Ajax's attention. As of today I think Nate is far more ready to play in our midfield than RLC is and I'm struggling to see the thought process behind letting him develop as striker. One other intriguing aspect is Nate is only 1 year older than Loftus-Cheek but has been on loan since such a young age that the idea is somewhat forgotten.
