Can't believe some people on here want to set a record when we have talented youngsters begging to impress. Ake, Chalobah, Loftus-Cheek all need to play games. I'm telling you give it two years when Cahill gets dropped or leaves and there will be no English players in this team it will be absolutely embarrassing if we can't play them when we've won the league when can we play them. I love this team and I love Conte but ill never feel the same about any team as I did when we had English players winning titles. Terry, Cole and Lampard made me love Chelsea more and I can't believe people want to break a record and be greedy instead of giving our fantastic young talent a go.

We'd be better off just going to Spurs and signing Rose, Alli and Kane because they'll never get given a prolonged run with this fanbase.

It's not just us people on here who want to set a record, id bet conte does also, he did it at juve they won the league with a good few games to go and apparently he demanded they carried on and set an Italian record of points 102 points that season I think, just be happy we won the league after last season, the youngsters will have a chance to impress in preseason 2 months of training everyday and friendly matches if they really impress in those 2 months they could get a real chance next season if they don't take there chance, that's life, when the first team players are relaxing on the beach the youngsters should be doing extra training trying to force there way in, it has to be done on merit, everyday training not just because they are a certain age or homegrown, Quality over quantity!

Cat, I can understand your prospective and there players within the squad who require games to get the medals they deserve.
We want to encourage our youngsters and let them know they have a chance of playing first team games for us!

I don't disagree I just gave an alternative view, if it was up to me ake would already be a regular And next season christienson comes back to seriously chalange for a staring spot, I rate chalobah and baker, although I think rlc needs to run more, try harder when given the chance, and I actually agree we should field fringe players / youngsters for the remaining games, our biggest problem with bringing youngsters through is we never keep a manager for long enough, why would any manager want to play kids at Chelsea when he knows he's only ever a few defeats away from the sack, we have great youth probably the best youths in the world, what we need is a manager to stay for at least 5 seasons to steadily bring 1or 2 in every year, fingers crossed that manager is conte.

I agree, loads of people are saying let the youth show what they can do during pre season, but that's not competitive like the premier League. Kenedy impressed me in pre season this year but look where he is now. We have an incredible youth system wth player and who could all get starting spots at different teams in the league, they just need to prove it. Ake proved it at Bournemouth and he is finally getting noticed as conte picked him over experienced Zouma for the fa cup game but he still needs to play in the pl for us. I'm hoping in the next few games we play mode of our youngsters not just a few as if we want to break a record, we should trust in them. And the next few games are against Watford and Sunderland so players like rlc chalobah aina Kenedy should all be given a chance.

Kennedy impressed you in pre-season?! He played twice (in the very first two pre-season games for a grand total of 19 minutes! Anyhow, I digress. I'm hoping Conte will promote one or two or at the very least get some of the brightest Academy players (i. e. T. Chalobah, Mount, Sterling) featuring in pre-season matches and training. I can see Baker breaking through and hope Christensen sticks around too. More importantly, Conte needs to be backed by the club with whatever decisions he makes with regards to the players.

Lewis Baker will be given every chance to be in the first team squad next year.
The best reports from all the players on loan, concern Lewis Baker.

The way I look at it is not every player is going to be Leo messi, but we should look at the model Man Utd had in the 90s, not every player is going to be world class or starting 11 material, but they used there youth team to full out a squad with good homegrown players - Wes brown, John oshea, Johny Evans, Phil neveille, Nicky butt, linguard, ect ect, not all amazing but a decent premiership standard once called upon and reliable, we have our own players like this all homegrown the majority British which helps having a British base, I look at players like Ryan Bertrand a decent player who would have been a very good squad player, I think we should use chalobah, baker, RLC, Abraham, ake, zouma, Christenson, musonda, ect, the same way Utd use to use there squad, fringe players, and they would all be in less wages than signing a 26 year old squad player on 100 grand a week, and maybe just maybe 2/ 3 of them turn out to become really special, it's win win really, thicken the squad with a good standard of homegrown player, whilst hoping they turn out awesome, I would have no problem if we had 11 world class players starting and our whole bench was from the academy, to me that would be a success, they would be used they would be called upon they would be part of the team, and we might just get a giggs scholes or beckham.
