Time is ticking down quite quickly now until the window slams shut, and the longer we take to sign someone I just feel we'll panic and end up signing a few bang average players.

Don't get me wrong I'm not expecting superstar signings but we certainly do need players just to add some depth to our squad.

Sandro. Would be the biggest signing and completely transform our left hand side with his athleticism up and down that side of the pitch. Can see this going right down to the transfer deadline.

Drinkwater. May not be who some may want but when Bakayoko is fit I feel Drinkwater would be great cover for Bakayoko and Kante.

Oxlade-Chamberlain. Once again maybe not everyones ideal choice but he would be great cover/ competition for Moses at RWB, and he can also play further up on the wing or in midfield.

As of now I'd be more than happy if we sign these three come September 1st .

Some will say it's simply because he's a foreigner and therefore shiny and new but I'd much rather sign Roberto than Drinkwater. He's younger, has more potential to improve, certainly seems to be more attacking whilst still maintaining some decent defensive contribution. And £40m for Drinkwater is a joke. That's how much we've just spent on Bakayoko and they're not comparable in skill at all.
I'd be okay with AOC, simply because he is versatile-ish and HG which we're lacking a bit of but again for the prices quoted I don't really see any value considering he's another one of Arsenal's endless sicknotes. Hardly capable of providing cover for multiple positions if he's going to be in the physio room for half the season as usual.

fuser. The only trouble with Sergi Roberto would be is he too similar to Cesc? And we all know how Cesc's lack of pace and defensive ability let him down in a two man midfield. These type of players are fine in teams that dominate possession (Real, Bayern etc), against the bigger teams we rarely dominate possession and that's why I feel Drinkwater would be a better option for us, that's how he and Kante played and won the league together at Leicester. They broke up the play and Drinkwater supplied the passes forward.

Bobby have you ever seen Roberto play?! He is nothing like Cesc, he is more versetile, quicker, his physical game isn't half bad and technically also good. I think in a way he isn't a great passer like cesc but then again very few players are. He is more in the mold of Super Frank than Fabregas. A jack of all trades and a master of none mold player in my opinion he would be the ideal player beside Bakayoko or Kanté. I know it's going to be Drinkwater but I wish the club went for Roberto he just has more to offer in my opinion he could easily become a wild card for us as the season wears on.

To be fairy to Drinkwater we could do a lot worse, money is irrelevant but for a fair price he too could well be a bargain.

ELI, I'll be honest I have not seen Sergi Roberto play too much and when I have it's been more at RB or a sub. I'm just not sure he's what we need in the centre of midfield in a two man system. And it's hard to judge some players from Barcelona defensively when they have 60% plus possession most games.

You seem to have better knowledge of Roberto than me though and from what you say it sounds like he'd be a great addition to our squad. Drinkwater or Roberto we need one either way. So here's hoping one signs.

Just been reported as well that Juve's director Marotta has said Sandro doesn't want to leave so that rules that move out now. Our last hope was that he'd ask to leave but he's definitely staying now. That was a real waste of time tbh if he never intended to leave in the first place.

Roberto is certainly a lot more mobile than Cesc, ed001 wrote a good review on him on a page somewhere. He'd be my choice but we'll see what happens.

The problem we have is clubs sense we are desperate. We lost against Burnley and the press immediately put comparisons to two years ago. We have let players go before replacing them, which is where the problem is. Now we approach clubs and as with Drinkwater the price jumps ten million. One day we will get all our business done early, then release what we don't want.
But this is Chelsea and in 50 plus years of following them they have never done things the easy way.
So fingers crossed for three new players, hopefully Rose, Drinkwater and the Ox.
