Ed 002 Avram Grant was on 5 live this morning and said a London club put in a bid for Van Persie at the same time as Manchester United but failed to sign him as they were not prepared to offer a 4 year contract due to his age and fitness record.
I gather it was us but is that a true story?
Thanks {Ed002's Note - Chelsea made an enquiry in November 2011 as to whether Arsenal would be willing to sell the player. They enquired again in July 2012 - I don't recall a bid being made and would have to check.}
