Chelsea have agreed a season-long loan deal with Monaco for Radamel Falcao, according to ssn.

135k/w - a significant downgrade from 285kpw in Manchester. A option to buy at the end of the season with the cost of 35mil.

But there is an upcoming issue that Remy feels concern about the coming of Falcao will reduce his playing to to less than last year, and it could affect negatively to his national call (year of EURO).

{Ed018's Note - there was every chance Remy would be leaving anyways. That's been discussed on here for some time now}

35 million for a player who will be nearing 31 when the loan ends , I can't see how that good bussiness?

money being thrown away

Spb, it's an option to buy if I'm not mistaken. There's no obligation.

What does Falcao offer that Remy doesn't?

I don't think it was that simple Bruce. I believe that Remy was most likely going to leave regardless of whether we signed Falcao or not. Remy probably wants to be first choice, not second choice, which at most clubs he would probably be.

It is option to buy. Unless falcao has a huge season scoring 30 plus goals,I can't see chelsea taking up the option to buy him especially when they only offer one year deals to over 30's. I think falcao is in a similar position as Torres was, so let's hope it works out a lot better this time around.

spb - where have we spent £35 million? As Jackson mentioned, it is (widely reported as being) a loan with an option to buy.

BruCeFC - If you look at it from a performance on the pitch option, from the outside - probably, not a great deal. maybe more European experience? One area where JM has mentioned is key is the attitude of a player and also having experienced players in the squad. with Drogba gone, Cech (and possibly Mikel) going, there is a lack of senior players and influence in the dressing room. Falcao may just fit the criteria JM is looking for in a player as an all-round package? Additionally, have you considered that it may be Remy wanting to leave as opposed to Chelsea wanting him gone?

The option to buy will be monaco's idea, not chelsea's

am I correct?

The option clause would have to be agreed by all parties to be present in the contract. in terms of triggering the clause, that'd be Chelsea's call.
