Hi eds, is there any chance you could give us an updated list of potential outgoings and players we are interested in? There seems to be different names starting to crop up (begovic, turan etc.)

{Ed002's Note - Some of this will change by the summer and there are major dependencies on (a) players leaving, and (b) how much money the club can raised through sales. However, there is known to be (or have recently been) some level of interest in the following players fairly recently:

GK: Begovic, Green. Guaita, Bettinelli, Kalinic, Ruddy all less likely.
RB: Manea (has joined), Darmain (won't happen if Ivanovic signs an extension) - not a priority.
LB: Baba Rahman is a very viable option. Gaya was first choice, but looks to no longer be an option. Cresswell and Ghoulumis were looked at but I think a move unlikely.
CB: Varane (difficult), Balanta (unlikely), Marquinhos (won't happen as he has signed a new contract), Antonio Rudiger (previous interest may be rekindled). Not a priority.
DM: Allan (not happening), Leander Dendoncker (not happening). Option might be Kondogbia or to look again at Romeu - although there is interest in him from the club he is on loan with.
M: Nathan (the move is agreed and a loan in Europe would be the probable way forward). Pogba (will be very difficult), Koke (will be very difficult), Youri Tielemans (would go on loan but is very likely heading elsewhere), Sinkgraven (perhaps in 2017 as he has moved to Ajax from Heerenveen for his development), Khedira (moving elsewhere), Gerson (not happening), Gomes (price remains an issue), Jose Mauri (not happening - didn't want a loan).
AM/W/F: Falcao (will happen), Kenedy (completed). Icardi (original preferred choice but won't happen), Dybala (not going to happen). Guy Hillion has been looking at Lacazette but after some discussions a move seems difficult to say the least - I would not expect it to happen. Griezmann is very much of interest with a third party continuing working on Chelsea's behalf to ease the transfer through. Complications have arisen that may end any chance of a move. Lee (won't happen), Kishna (interest has gone), Bakkali (all interest long gone and moving elsewhere), Sterling (Chelsea showed an interest but no interest at the asking price - his agent is hawking him around clubs still). Talisca (perhaps 2016), Bellarabi (most unlikely), Pedro (unlikely), Malcom (won't happen), Douglas Costa (eon't happen), Anwar El Ghazi (there may be a bid coming), Anderson (there is interest from Chelsea and elsewhere but Lazio don't want to sell unless a very significant offer is made), Chelsea have had someone from the Academy in Singapore watching Muto - as have Bayer Leverkusen, but I suspect a move to Mainz beckons for him. Chelsea were one of a number of clubs approached about Turan, but nothing will happen.

Thanks Ed great info pretty much answers everything there. It's a shame Varane,Pogba,Griezman are looking like they won't happen but still I believe falcao will do well with us. Fingers crossed anyways.

Ed if it isn't to much trouble could you do the same regarding players we already have that other teams have shown an interest in i.e which players you believe are likely to depart this window if you could.

Great to be back good to see you all let's hope for anther successful window and season take care all and thanks for your time has always Ed's.

{Ed002's Note - I don't have the time right now but nothing has changed since it was last done.}

Thanks for the updates Ed.

Many thanks for the update Ed.

So all in all we are not signing any big names?

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure what you mean by "big name". Falcao is traditionally seen as a "big name" by those who get their rocks off over highly paid players. Perhaps you could find a poster of him for your bedroom ceiling.}

Thanks Ed. You guys make this site fabulous.

Would be happy withe el Ghazi looks quality. I think if we can't get either world class players or players that are young and have potential to be world class we shouldn't bother. Don't want any more signings like Luis, cuadrado the only thing we really need is more goals from midfield and wingers (excluding hazard).

02 Jul 2015 17:13:23
Wow…doesn't look like anyone of need is available that will push a current starter. Need quality backup's for Oscar, Cesc and Matic. unless they are going to promote the U-21's. Does anyone really believe that the current squad with lack of depth at AM and CM is good enough to challenge for the premier league and champions league? Who is going to score a goal if Costa and or Hazard get injured (again)? CFC needs quality to challenge starters not purchases like Salah and Cuadrado which were a speculative purchase. Need to purchase quality known commodities and use the U-21's as speculative development options.

To be fair I think we as fans have not seen enough of cuadrado and Salah to make a fair judgement. Jose sees them on the training pitch everyday so I trust his ability to pick and choose the players. We all like a huge name player but it's not always the best balance for the team. Our best pieces of business over the last few years have been for smaller fees apart from the odd one or two.

02 Jul 2015 23:22:26
Is our interest in Witsel or Song gone? Thanks for the info Ed!

Jose has always said that we would have to wait till next season to see the best of cuadrado, if he stays and turns out to be the player that we saw at the World Cup, then that will be like having a new world class player. If Jose, by some miracle, can get falcao anywhere near his best, then we will have two of the top three forwards in the world. Added to that we have Traore coming back, which again is like having a new player, and a very very exciting talent.

03 Jul 2015 11:09:04
Yeah, we shouldn't just buy for the sake of buying. You're right, sid. Traore en Cuadrado could be like 2 whole new signings. Same for midfield. If none of the actual targets are available then let's just wait and use loanees or the players we have. RLC could be like a new signing as well. He looked very good during the U21 championship.
