Chelsea agree to sell Luis back to A Madrid.

BABA RAHMAN must be in the pipe line then :))

Agree0 Disagree0

I would say so I don't see what we need him for ake is more than capable

{Ed018's Note - Ake will most likely be going on loan}

20 Jul 2015 19:06:40
Agree to a degree but as much I like Ake . I really don't see him ever being more than a squad player at Chelsea.

I would have loved to see him develop into at great player at chelsea.

20 Jul 2015 19:16:22
Whilst Ake is versatile, LB is probably his weakest position IMO

20 Jul 2015 19:19:12
I think Ake's best position is in central midfield :)
Baba would be an awesome signing for the name alone haha

20 Jul 2015 20:36:57
Ake - please no. Don't think he'll ever be good enough for the first team I'm afraid not unless he goes out to a championship side and proves himself.

20 Jul 2015 20:46:45
How many of you even seen baba play that's the problem people getting hyped up on YouTube videos who watches ausburg in fairness like we should of never sold Bertrand I always liked him shame but I no Jose wasn't to keen and I no he didn't want to be a squad player

I agree with Magichandshurley, I bet hardly any of you have seen Baba Rahman actually play. CFCAdam you clearly don't keep your eyes out when our youth go out on loan. Ake played 5 games for Reading last season and was officially named MOM in 3 of them, so quite clearly he's good enough for the championship. The kid is 20 and needs to play, I'm willing to bet he eventually gets a chance because he's talented and Mourinho likes him. This is the problem with Chelsea fans nowadays, everyone wants signings, you're all hyping up Rahman - fact is he'll come to our team, sit on the bench, and you'll all complain. We have possibly the best full back in Europe playing LB so nobody is going to take his place - proved right with Luis, he's not had a kick all season! I think you all need to calm down, if you're good enough you're old enough, quite rightly Ake will go out on loan to a prem side, where he'll make a big difference to any team in the bottom half!!

20 Jul 2015 23:10:26
Wow 5 games. Josh looked good in 5 games too and look where he ended up. Getting ahead of yourself mate. If Nathan was as good as you make him out to be we wouldn't need a back up for left back. Playing 5 games at the end of season is completely different to playing a full season. Let's see if he will get his chance to prove himself while out on loan then we'll talk whether he's good enough for the 1st team squad.

20 Jul 2015 23:12:20
And also I'll be honest, I've never heard of Rahman before now. And have no judgement on him what-so-ever. But if Jose decides a player isn't good enough or won't break into the team then I'll take his opinion rather then a supporters view.

Jose's signings don't always turn out well do they. De Bruyne was never given a chance under mourinho and we sold him and never should have. We sold Mata too. Both Mata and De Bruyne were sacrificed for a player who a lot of Chelsea fans would happily see sold (Oscar).
To be honest we shouldn't even be having to have this discussion, seeing as we sold a great LB in Bertrand, a player who's excelled at Southampton! I love Mourinho as much as the next Chelsea fan but sometimes he doesn't give players the chance they deserve. You've got people like Mikel taking minutes from players who potentially have good Chelsea careers in front of them.I mean is there a Chelsea fan who actually rates Mikel?
Are you a fan of the Falcao deal Adam? I can't work out what the hell was going through his mind when he signed him - it's not even worth the risk. I'm just praying Remy stays because he's a far better striker than the current Falcao. I'd have even preferred to have seen Bamford get a chance, he's guaranteed to get you some goals and he's English!
At the end of the day I'll obviously trust in Jose but I'm a little underwhelmed at the moment. I don't want many signings, just a couple of players who strongly improve the starting 11 would have done fine!

I think what's harmed ake is his versatility as he's been interchanged as a centre back, left back, and centre mid. You can see it with multiple others but I think generally the best thing for a players development is to keep him in one position. With that said I think some of the criticism of mourinho is unfair. For starters Bertrand wanted to go as he wasn't ever going to be ahead of Dave/ivanovic and I stand behind the club not holding on to a player against their will. Mata was absolutely good business once you get past the emotional part of it. Nobody in their right mind would say he's worth 37m right now or at any point since he's been there. Even with Kevin I think a lot of people forget that he was our 6th attacking mid at the time and at that point in the year Oscar was our best player by a country mile. Obviously hindsight is 20:20 but you still have to take into account that he plays in a free role at Wolfsburg which is very different than oscars role here.

I agree about Bertrand we should of never sold him but again very hard to keep a player who wants to start week in week out and de bruyne was the same except when he got time on the pitch he didn't do anything to show why he should be a starter to be honest and I still wouldn't want him back his attitude stinks for a young guy

21 Jul 2015 07:14:59
I'm a fan of Mikel. Or was shall I say. He was immense in the champions league final and also played a big role in getting us there. Think people forget that. He's there to do a job, just like Makelele, nothing fancy. Win the ball back and pass it off. I do find it strange that he only passes sideways but maybe that's due to the coaches telling him that?

De Bryune - was too demanding. Wanted to play every week when everyone knows that he wasn't good enough at that stage. Should of kept his mouth shut, worked hard in training and then he would have gotten his chance - same as lukaku.

Mata - never tracked back and couldn't/wouldn't change his work-rate. Just look at Willian and especially Hazard and their work rate. Up and down (especially Willian). That's why he was sold.

Bertrand - totally agree. Did his time out on loan/didn't moan/ took his chance. But if the best rated left back in European football 2 seasons ago - Filipe Luis couldn't shift Azpilicueta what chance had Ryan got? He had to go for the sake of his career and I for one hope he hits the heights that we knew he would and could.

Falcao - think it's a pretty shrew bit of business. First season was always going to be tough. Just coming back from a major injury, new team, new country, new league. I'm 100% sure he will be a lot lot better this season.

We don't need the Marquee signing that everyone craves. We are champions. Yes other teams are strengthening but we looked near on perfect in a few matches last season. Also nearly all the players have had a good rest. This is oscars first pre-season with us properly yet he's been at the club 3 years!

21 Jul 2015 09:25:47
I rate Mikel, Nick. And I love Oscar and desperately want him to stay. If Remy does stay, then the Falcao deal is a good one IMO. He can start out as 3rd choice, and will only gain more playing time if he plays better than Costa and/or Remy, which is a good thing.
Bertrand is a good player, but the Soton defenders almost always look good in their system. Sure he's good, but he wanted playing time and Azpi is better. So I don't blame him nor the club for doing a deal to see him move on.

21 Jul 2015 21:27:55
Chelsea Nick, you complain that Chelsea fans nowadays always want signings and yet you complain that you're underwhelmed by our signings so far. No-one gets signings 100% right, as there are invariable amounts of things that could go wrong, such as the player not settling etc but I certainly trust Jose.
