Romeu signing on a permanent transfer to Southampton. I liked him as a player.

Agree1 Disagree0

Probably would offer more than Mikel now he's gained experience on loan.

In his few games for us he played well with bags of energy and a good eye for a pass. If I'm being honest I would put him in on before mikel.

In my eyes should be on our bench! In study to matic yea! But had a whole lot of potential.

I agree NWBLUE, although he didn't set the world alight on his loans, the few games he got under AVB he looked the business. Great passer and could read the play well for a young bloke.

Glad he is at least staying in the prem so we can see how he would've done if he stayed.

Did anyone get the chance to watch Van Ginkel against Liverpool? Ed018? Wondering how he got on.

{Ed018's Note - I did not see Van Ginkel play. I guess he played decent though}

He played ok to be fair. He was played as a no.10 though ahead of Whelan and Adam which I though wasn't his best position. I'd play him in the holding two instead of Whelan. Can then see him doing well with Shaqiri, Bojan and Afellay ahead of him.

Van Ginkel played pretty well. He didn't boss the game, but was full of energy and showed some good passing and a willingness to get forward. He also seems to use his body very well to shield the ball etc. It's good to see that after his injuries he's not afraid to go into tackles. Very promising debut IMO.

Cheers fellas. Appreciate it.

Will have to watch more of Stoke this year than I usually would

Agree with all the above. Romeu is a decent, young DM and would do a better job than Mikel. Although there isn't too much between them, I would prefer Romeu just due to his age/potential. Still remember his two standout games again Newcastle and Arsenal before he was sent on loan.

Van Ginkel did play very well on Sunday and actually got the Stoke Man of the Match that was announced over the tannoy. Definitely one to follow this season, but we all know that he will more than likely be sold for a profit next summer.

As I have posted before, the problem is that Mikel refuses to move.

14 Aug 2015 12:01:51
Ed: Was it true Mikel 'refused' to move? It appeared he was all set for Al Ain, maybe Turkey and Mourinho pulled his move!

{Ed018's Note - it's possible as it sure looked like he was gonna be moving}

Send him to the reserves like we did malouda. He needs to leave our club I would prefer a youth player to be tried over him.
