All the stuff about us buying Bakayoko worries me!
I know I can be way over the top about the ability of our youngsters but I just see this guy as a block to the opportunties of our home grown talent.
If we are going to buy a player, let's make it a player who is world class NOW!

Agree3 Disagree7

Is that not the exact same thing? If we buy Bako he's in the first team, If we buy verratti he's in the first team. Both would be there for as long as they stay! So it doesn't matter what happens our young guys will have to fight for a place simple as no matter what happens.

Signing a young talent like Bakayoko will only be a block to our young talent whilst they prove to not work as hard as him whilst not performing, and improving, at his level.

It's only our young talent themselves than can get themselves into, or blocked from, the first team.

Agreed j, chalobah and bakyoko are the same age and play in the same position, so it's fair slog it out survival of the fittest, the problem nowadays is our youngsters in particular are already on 30 grand a week wages before getting anywhere near the first team, they are fed with a silver spoon, they haven't got that street fighter scrapping to get by mentality, just because Chelsea make a signing in the same position doesn't mean they have to throw the towel in and say, oh no it's to hard at Chelsea they don't give chances, you have to earn the right to play for the English champions it's a prestigious thing to play for a top team, you have to train longer and harder than the others, you have to be the best trainer in pre-season, knock on the managers door every week, force your self a chance, and once you have this chance hold on to it with both hands and don't let go, talent alone is not enough, I remember john Terry saying in the summer of 2003 when roman bought us, he phoned lampard and said what are we going to do now, Chelsea can buy who ever they like, they were both early 20s ish around 23, son not much older than the likes chalobah, ake, or lewis baker, so they both said this is our club and we ain't going anywhere, through hard work!, determination and sheer will, they stayed and become legends, if they want it enough, if they try hard enough there is future here for all the kids, it's all on them!

Veratti in my opinion is already top class.
While Bakayoko, for me, has it all to prove and I don't think he is any better than at least two of our youngsters.
So, why spend the money?
As you can tell, I'm NOT a fan of Bakayoko and I can't stand Lukaku but its all about opinions!

Bakayoko Must be doing something right, he starts nearly every game for a team that has just won the league, and reached the champions league semi final, he has caps for France, and our football club has scouted him, and concluded that he will improve our squad/ team or they wouldn't sign him, not only us but psg, Man Utd, Bayern Munich and juventus have all had him watched and all would like to sign him, we have apparently won the race, Tommy b are you really thinking that all those top team scouts are wrong about him? , do you think the France manager has poor judgment and is wrong about him?, do you think he isn't as good as chalobah? , do you think chalobah could start every game for Monaco?, if chalobah was eligible to play for France do you think he would have caps at 22 years old? , do you see Bayern, Psg, Man Utd, juventus knocking our door down for chalobah? , why hasn't chalobah been called to the full English squad?, why don't chalobah start often for Chelsea? , why didn't he hardly play for Napoli last season on loan?, why do Chelsea want Bakyoko when we already have chalobah? , it would be great to bring kids in to the first team but they have to be better than what's already there or what's the point.

Cat, all can give you is my opinion.
I'm not a fan of Bakayoko, and Lukaku for ME has the first touch of a brick wall.
All the Club managers and scouts who rate the Bakayoko are entitled to there view but I would rather see Chalaboa or Lewis Baker in the team.

I didn't mean anything by what I said tommy b if I came across the wrong way, I just think a lot of us fans me included think our youngsters are better than they are so we almost got blind faith in them, I think it stems from our youth team success of winning trophies, but the point of the academy is to get players to graduate into the first team, we usually win the youth cup so we automatically think we have the best young talent, but just maybe we have the best youth team, best coached team best facilities ect, but some teams have that 1 speacilal talent who could be a superstar, he could play for a team that gets knocked out early, so doesn't get all the attention, our youth team is organised, strong, professional all good things but maybe it's the strength of the the youth team as a whole, when what we need is that 1 special player every few years who is head and shoulders above every other player in the Team, we have a world class youth team but not many world class talents individuals, the same ways we felt watching a young messi, Ronaldo, fabregas, Rooney, ect they all had the X factor at 17 years old, I don't know how successful there youth teams were but they stood out head and shoulders above the players they played with or against.

Baker is a great example but not because he compares to Bakayoko. Look at Baker's highlights from this past season - so talented with both feet. Fabregas however is probably in front of him, and a pretty daunting player to have in front of him too.

So, what should Baker be thinking? I'm never going to get into that team with Fabregas there, might as well ask to be sold or given another loan? Or, I'm going back to Chelsea and I'm going to force my way into the team, ahead of Fabregas?

20 May 2017 17:10:39
Chelsea have received rave reports about Lewis Baker this year.
If we can't give him opportunities after the loan season he has had then why bother with the youth set up?
Football is all about opinions and I guess the only one that matters is Conte's.

{Ed002's Note - The are obliged to have a youth set up.}

Very true but a good and expensive one would a waiste of everyones time and effort if rearely we give a young talent a chance and that requires more than the odd game!
