Alfredo Pedulla also saying that Chelsea have opened talks with Kostas Manolas' rep. I don't know how true but its fine by me if we can get this one cos he's a really big fish (one of the best out there) .

His one of those players who has a lot of pace for CB and that gets him out of trouble, surely we wouldn’t be looking at CB when we don’t know If we will be playing 3 or 4 at the back. Where as midfielder and wingers is priority whatever or whom ever comes in,

Azpi will likely move back to the full back position next season so it won't affect him. As for Christensen, if Sarri is appointed manager he'll likely be a starter. He's the only CB that is really suitable to flurish in Sarri's play style. Add that to the fact Luiz is likely off with Cahill and Zouma, we'll be in need of another CB. Only person this will have a negative affect on may be Rudiger as i can't see him performing well in a two CB partnership. Manolas will be more suitable in that area for me but personally someone like Rugani would be better than both.

Good opinions guys. I think given that Sarri will be the manager, another CB is probably not needed but ignore they choose to buy one then Manalos fits the bill. His a quality defender and within budget.

CB: Christensen, Rudiger, Zouma, Cahill, Luiz
RB: Azpi, Moses
LB: Alonso, Emerson, Zappa

Personally I think Cahill and Luiz will be phased out or sold. I think it's wise to keep them for experience. Luiz is still good enough but not sure Sarri will risk him. Zouma got right battle on to save his career. I think a CB of either Manolas or Rugani will be bought. Gives us options. 4 main ones.

Even if his not overrated he isn’t much of an improvement on what we have and would take chunk of any budget we do have. Christensen will be better than last season. rudifer too, Cahill and Luiz maybe could move on but we would have Zouma back and Azpilicueta can play there. How much would Manolas cost? £35m? That’s almost the Malcom fee or golovin or most of bailey fee, half of Savic fee. See my point. far more important areas than adding a CB unless it’s a world class player who’s contracts up or club looking to sell. But should be last position to be looked at.

i completely agree with your point matt martin only way it makes sense to buy manolas is if we raise the fee from selling luiz an zouma or cahill luiz etc.

Obinna, Manolas is fine but an in form Luiz is far better. Plus Manolas would cost a fair amount and Luiz wouldn't fetch much in return.

Rudiger is strong but Manolas (whom is still at a good age) was a better defender at their time in Roma together; As for Azpi- he's good too but my concern is that i don't know how he would fair as a central defender in a four man defense cos he's only played as a central defender in a five man defence which is a lot easier, so that raises a question mark for me. There are few central defenders that can hold a four man defense line (with two CBs) and Manolas is up there with them. As for Cahill and D. luiz, I will pick Manolas over them all day long (cos they are seriously on the decline) . At 27years of age and with the amount being mentioned (£35m release clause) - based on his experience, quick recovery, pace, aerial and sliding/ tackling abilities (qualities that comes in handy in the EPL) I think he's a good and cheap option.
