Considering that we have a fantastic trio of attacking midfielders in Hazard, Mata and Oscar and neither of them doing bad/not living up to expectations/looking to leave in the near future, why on earth are we trying to bring in Isco?

As well as the aforementioned we also happen to have players such as Kevin de Bruyne, Piazon, Marin, Moses and Kakuta playing in those positions. With one or two likely gone it is still a crowded competition for places and all of the aged under 24.

Buying every undersized, skinny attacking midfielder possibly available won't solve our problems where they are badly obvious and continually exposed. This I don't get really.

Beforehand I never worried over those things. Not my money, happy over every player joining Chelsea, but with FFP in effect, should we not start looking for needs?

Some of which will be gone if we don't make the Top 4.

In my opinion he would be a very good squad player/potential future starter.

Hazard and Mata have both shown visible signs of fatigue and tiredness this season (i don't understand why as their professional athletes who get paid to be basically be in shape as their natural talent is a given). Oscar is an exceptional talent but is set to be moved to the pivot over the next season or 2 from what I understand.

Marin is a squad player who hasn't shown his past quality at Werder Bremen and Moses is a squad player.

Kakuta from what I've read will be assessed and likely sold, Piazon will likely go on loan next year and KDB is seen as Lampards replacement as I understand.

That leaves us with Hazard, Mata, Moses and Marin. Isco in my opinion is better than Marin and has the potential to be as good as Mata, we are a top team who will play a lot of games next season. Isco is young, will be an affordable price for his ability, age and versatility and will have a high resale value.

Ive watched a lot of Malaga this year, he has been inconsistent but he has a bunch of talent and potential and would really add to the squad. The only problem I see is he isn't an out and out winger which is what we probably lack depth wise but his versatility is something the club seem to be searching for.

I can't take your post ( or any other ) seriously as u use the phrase "double pivot". Drives me crazy.
It's central midfield where I come from.

PB, what's the affordable price you're referring to? His release clause is set at 30 million pounds. What is the transfer fee you are thinking is a reasonable/affordable for a "squad player"?

5.) 01 Mar 2013
I think an out and out winger of his quality would be much better business. Problem is there aren't many wingers.

JG this is your best post in a long time, I agree with you that we don't need another small midfielder, no matter how talented, who doesn't bring anything different to the team such as being a true winger with electric pace. Instead we should look for a future lb, Bertrand looks worse every match, or striker or young cb with pace who is comfortable with the ball at his feet because Ivan clearly is not and the style we play we need more pace at cb.

JG unless were talking Messi or Ronaldo then most players in Europe are affordable, his release clause may be 30m euros but that doesn't mean that's what they will take as a minimum. They need cash and unless they get us in a bidding war with Real Madrid I would think he would cost what Mata did around £21m and at that price I think he is worth the money in my opinion. I've watched lots of Malaga sky and he is a special talent.

I have watched a lot of Dortmund and I can tell you that Goetze is one of a kind type of player. And could be available at some 30 mil. Should we go for him? Also tiny, technically brilliant, pacy. Point is there are a great bunch of talent in that area and we don't have a striker, our central midfield is crap and our defence need immideate upgrade.

My targets would be: Hummels, Vidal, Cavani. And sadly they are all expensive and a lot of clubs want them.

I love Goetze, he is a better player than Isco and has more potential but Dortmund have a good financial situation, they have one of the best home attendances in europe and they have bee a very successful club. From what I've read he would only leave for Barcelona so that deal looks unlikely.

I agree with you we need a world class 30 goals a season all comps striker whether that be Falcao or Cavani, then like you said we must buy a CDM/CM who will bring some grit and toughness to the middle of the mark, who has a simple but effective passing game, who is defensively minded and a big strong athlete, unfortunately not many of them around : (

Then you and I can agree we should be wise and concentrate on our immediate needs rather than add another promising skillful midget.
