Went to the game last night, here are some thoughts:

Emerson is a dreadful defender but good going forward. Zappacosta was marginally better. Both need to add more grit to their play.

Christiansen had a decent game considering he was basically covering for everyone else's screw ups. Cahill and Fabregas showed their ages.

Kepa's distribution is really strong. He hardly ever loses possession from a goal kick or throw out.

Willian is so frustrating. He is such a talented player but his decision making in the final third is abject. Pedro is more intelligent but lacked match fitness.

Kovacic is a beast and is growing in confidence. He could be the first box to box player we've had who would rival Michael Essien. He just needs to sharpen his shooting.

Barkley looks confident but needs to turn that into assists and goals to nail on a starting place.

Morata is clearly working harder to be more aggressive in his game. You could see that by all the Costa-like protesting (and his eventual booking) . His target man and link up play was decent too with him dropping off to play one-twos with midfield.

Finally, hats off to VIDI, they played a bloody good game considering they are approximately Championship quality players and away from home. It just shows the power of playing as a team rather than a bunch of individuals (ManUtd I'm looking your way) .

Thinks RLC deserves getting mentioned. He had a brilliant game in my eyes, and I honestly think he might do a better job at Kante's role than Kante does right now. However, it would be catastrophic to put Kante on the bench.

Yes well done to vidi. They were well organised and dangerous on the break and set pieces. Their manager is one to watch for the future .
