Can we post anything on pre season games or will it come across negative. it's pre season, just a friendly, humid hot and tough conditions. New tactics etc etc, same problems - scoring goals, Lampard said his really happy with the squad. drinkwater Bakyoko Kenedy, were chelsea football club. We should have better players in squad. Bakyoko I feel for genuinely as games the year he arrived some were fantastic, v United athletico spurs but things not worked and have 3 players who play the deeper role. Kenedy isn't good enough winger or good enough LB. and the result doesn't matter a toss it's about fitness and preparation.

Whilst it is preseason I didn’t see much from Batshuayi, his touch is heavy and the one or two times he was through he tried to be too cute. Kennedy l don’t think was bad, certainly put himself about and had a good work ethic but end product was lacking.

The last 3 years has been - end product lacking, only pre season but just a concern.

We had a awful pre-season under Ancelotti but won the double, had another poor one under Mourinho but won the league, had a great one under Scolari but had a terrible campaign. I wouldn't take much from what you see right now too seriously, but i agree i do see us having problems scoring throughout the season. Feel like we'll be seeing a lot of close games no matter the opposition because of our lack of goals.

Pre season means nothing lads come on. Only negative thing is there are far too many players playing who aren’t food enough like Baka, Drinkwater, Kenedy and Alonso.

Actually we had a good pre-season under Ancelotti, my mistake. Still wouldn't worry too much about it tho. If our games against Salzburg or Borussia M'gladbach don't go well then maybe there should be a small cause for concern.

What I’m saying is the last 3 years we’ve needed a goalscorer and we still look to be lacking a goalscorer .

Meaning that our midfielders have to be more adventurous in going forward (under Frank Lampard) so that they can get more goals.

Were going to struggle big time putting ball in net we don’t even look like we were going to in last game, all the money spent and players we’ve had and still no better off striker wise worrying times ahead this year.

Agree Nibby. The direction the clubs going using homegrown players is great but would of needed the world class players in squad already, adding Mount James Cho to wingers like hazard or strikers like costa etc, putting these young players in team and heavily relying on them isn’t ideal, if we struggle to score goals then what . What if club then see it as unsuccessful and go another direction, transfers on morata Bakyoko drinkwater Zappazocsta didn’t help. £150m that didn’t work out. we now have re cooped that but can’t invest it.

I would have liked a top class striker but it ain’t going to happen so onwards and upwards with what we have got.

No more ifs, buts and maybes. We will win the Premiership and now is the time to be positive.

COME on MY MIGHTY BLUES.

Positive for positive sake, we were so far behind city and Liverpool, falling behind Tottenham and man united are investing and on the up and arsenal haven’t got weaker like we have. Genuinely Tom, where do you think we will finish. Seems like fake smiles and “ yeah young players are brilliant, super Franck’s will be amazing “ when I see it as franks there to stop the fans turning soar while we are in a huge hole and falling behind,

Matt, I am honestly NOT being positive for the sake of being positive.

I TRULY believe we will win the Premiership.

I am worried about NOT having a top natural goal scorer but I have feeling we will have players with something to prove and this season could well define the career!

Frank on to a winner he does well with what he has then it’s the youth has worked it’s amazing and if it does it’s frank didn’t do anything as the man had no money to spend. I love lampard and 100% behind him I do think he will be given time but the signings of mount rlc are all good but we just don’t look like netting i think we’re ok in every other position bar that.

Put aside the loss of Hazard, who was great for us at times over many seasons but we have a bigger and I believe a better balanced squad for this season.

21 Jul 2019 00:58:10
9 goals and 4 assists in the 38 championship games, were not talking about a world beater we’re talking about a player with potential. Compare him to what other teams have, along with no word class striker, I always like your posts and opinions Tom but to think we will win the league is quiet unbelievable, top 4 is going to be a stretch let alone gaining 30 points from last year and catching city and Liverpool ( who will be strengthening )

16.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 12:02:29
Don't underestimate the impact a fully fit Hudson-Odoi and integrated Pulisic will have on this teams scoring ability.

None of Giroud, Abraham or Batshuayi are the type of striker who can score a goal on their own from nothing. They all need good service. I think Hudson-Odoi and Pulisic will provide that service as well as adding a goal threat themselves.

Scoring is also about confidence, if Abraham starts to score early, and builds up his confidence in this team, then I think he'll have a very good season.

Matt, I know was an exceptional player but as I’ve said many times we now potentially have a bigger and IMO a stronger squad.

Some teams will have strengthened but I think we have as well.

If one of the three forwards hits a bit of goal scoring form it will be easy!

COME on MY MIGHTY BLUES.

21 Jul 2019 13:18:46
Yeah the team will be more balanced but adding more balance but removing goals / assists isn’t ideal, and talk of Cho as well. superb talent, going to be a star, but unproven as of yet will take time to get experience . People are getting confused with superb talents for world class players, we have one world class player in kante. This window we needed these young players to integrate with some top players, We have all been saying for however long that Alonso William Pedro Giroud drinkwater Bakyoko etc etc etc should move on and be replaced. now there going to be relied on.

21 Jul 2019 17:14:10
Matt as a great a player Hazard was, IMO he wasn’t a huge asset in a 433. So only see our side improving if Lamps doesn’t try and play players out of position.

I think RLC is a natural 10 and I think he will score over fifteen goals next season.

20.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 18:59:46
We’ve lost 30 goals/ assists Tom and your relying on an injured player to come back and make them up, along with making up 30 points on city and Liverpool. come on mate, I’m hoping these players do well get some Experience and when we can buy we add the quality around the potential and go forward from there, like I said Lampard is in the stop the fans getting on the clubs back.

21.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 20:20:45
I just can’t see our club appointing Lamps as some sort of appeasement to the fans.

I’ve said loads of times I would prefer it if we had a top guaranteed goal scorer but we haven’t and to be honest we haven’t had one for a few seasons.

As things stand we have three forwards two of whom IMO have a lot to prove but now is there chance to become a Chelsea legend.

While we wait for RLC to be fit we can see Mount bang in four of five.

Liverpool and City IMO will not get as many points as last season and as I’ve said we, IMO, now have a stronger squad than last year. We will win it in a canter!

COME on MY MIGHTY BLUES.

21 Jul 2019 23:13:22
Tom, I do enjoy a debate of different opinions without it going to far, I hope your right and I’m wrong, and I won’t support any less and will be trying to get up there few times to support them, like you say fee these players have a lot to prove, imo especially Tammy as his said a lot about getting the chance and having to play the young players, he does come alive in and around 6 yard, also what doesn’t help is kante, rudiger, James, RLC, Cho and even willian may not be fit / fully fit,

23.) 22 Jul 2019
22 Jul 2019 07:02:06
The injury situation hasn’t been helpful but again in my ridiculously optimistic way, I see this as an opportunity for other players take their chance!
