The more I think about the numbers mentioned for haaland, more it doesn't feel right, he is without doubt the the long term top class striker has age / height / speed / muscle, but talk of £150 + million? It without doubt takes us up a level, that's a mega amount of money, if these numbers are true, and with today's rumours of united getting close it could stop haaland moving this window or put price up?

I wouldn't worry about the numbers that is for the club to negotiate.
But if we sold a few players like Abraham/ Ziyech/ Barkley that takes care of 50% plus of the fee.
As has been said the more problematic element might be his wage demands.

Yeah your right, and we need to add quality over quantity, and financially we appear ok, just thinking £150m could be rice and hakimi for example, and problem with outgoing players is a lot want loans with options to buy, look at Bakyoko for example, been a nightmare,

The deal would be structured in such a way that it doesn't negatively impact the club, unless Haaland is a failure. Which I'm sure we all doubt that he would be.

Remember that we have players that Dortmund are interested in as well. All in all it will be a very difficult transfer to get arranged, especially in this window.

Even at £150 million, if he continues to perform and potentially even develop further, then I think it represents value for money. It's been a long time since we've had a truly prolific striker and it seems to be a consistent problem area for us. Let's get it solved once and for all!

Even at that price it's arguably a better investment than a crocked Kane at £120m.
Lukaku at £70/ 80m is probably the best deal given he is proven in the PL but he is fast approaching 30 and would have little or no sell on value in 5 years time.
Glad it isn't my decision!

If you look at the player as an asset, Haaland will probably represent best value. What will he be worth in 5 years time? You'd like to think the same value wouldn't you, if not higher, he'd be 25 and a proven world class striker.

So if we decided to sell, or he wished to leave you'd have had 5 good years of service and your money back.

Lukaku on the other hand.

Despite the huge figures being quoted, I'd say Haaland was the biggest risk, but potentially by far and away the best investment.

Haaland is a huge risk and as we have seen the PL is a different proposition to the Bundesliga.
And very few young players with big transfer fees have fared well recently apart from Mbappe.
It's a very large lottery which can fall either way.
Glad it's Roman and Marina call!

Absolutely Strasbourg. What is wrong with everybody. £150m for a 20 year old striker! It’s a recipe for you know what. As Chelsea fans we have all seen this movie before. Let’s show some maturity as a club and a fan base on this. Having Mr Abramovich at the helm is an absolute bonus post C.V., but let’s be sensible. Halaand would NEED to bang in 25 + goals next season and I don’t mean running in two’s and three’s V the relegation or lower league teams in the cup to boost his tally. I mean winning goals in the very latter stages of the CL, hitting doubles and winning goals V the top 4 and in cup semis and finals. He would need to have a record not unlike Aguero for it to be worth it. Immense pressure on the player, the coach and the club. I would ask everyone please just cool the jets on this one. I say give Havertz and Werner another season combining up front. Spend on Rice and Hakimi that is more measured. Get Gilmour in rotating. I accept that it looks over for TA who may actually add weight to a Declan Rice purchase and get it over the line (which I can live with) . But imo the board simply have to meet their obligations by shifting out Kepa, Alonso, Emerson, Ziyech, and Barkley, before sacking any Chelsea YA players. I would also sell Jorginho in a heartbeat. A proper assessment of our loanees is also required at this time. Just remember Chelsea are the European Champions, players will want to come, let’s be cool and show a bit of class.

Let the club and the owner worry about the money.

I’m only interested in the player being good enough.

Stephen first academy players were being picked on and now they are being sacked ;what next hung, drawn and quartered. You don’t seem able to post without mentioning Rice- I think you’re wasting your time as it’s unlikely Moyes would have signed a new contract without certain assurances. I am all for academy players coming through if they are good enough but many will not be- we are Champions of Europe. As for Gilmour it would be better for him to get PL loan so that he can get regular game time than rotate.
