This has nothing to do with GP. Chelsea might be great club again in 3-5 years.

antibot, you could well be correct. Maybe we just assume success.

Didnt you guys just win the champions league a couple of years ago?

From an outside perspective, i didn't think your squad needed the overhaul it has just undergone.

Yes we did win the Champions League again!

A lot of the changes/ signings had to happen because of players leaving on a free transfer and cover for players who were injured but an “outside” perspective is always welcome.

DSG, you're post says it all " a couple of years ago". no team can live in the past, and expect similar results, teams need to evolve and keep improving! Liverpool, for me, are a prime example, world beaters 2 years ago, but no improvement of squad especially in the motor room (midfield) and so you see the result down the track. Having said that, I don't think liverpool actually realised Mane's value to the team! Perhaps he just wanted to go.
With that said, I do not understand our manager/ coach playing players who have no future at the club, HZ and RLC are not going to be here long term, so give the the younger guys a go. PEA is quite obviously not wanted (rightly so IMO) but to put him in match day squad ahead of Fofana. and, tbf whilst the club may think playing/ showcasing players they are looking to sell will enhance/ maintain their value, bollocks, everyone knows (to a point) those about to depart, and, at present they are looking poor playing in a losing team. Zyech's value has dropped by playing him as we want him gone (clerical error has cost the club) and he wants gone obviously, where's the motivation to play well there? The same applies for others in a similar situation!
Like most on here I have my list of potential departures (there are many, as per Tom), Mount would be a disappointment if he leaves, but if his representatives (as reported) want 200K plus per week, then best you leave, and good luck, we'll take the transfer fee, thank you, and then your form may return once you feel "valued". Our club has overpaid wage wise for too long ( and yes this is a result of the Roman era) to get the players we seemingly want, however, to move these players on is very difficult (see Lukaku and maybe Sterling) as no club outside of England can afford anything near what they get right now. I can see a lot of English teams doing a "Bogarde" in the future with players, training on a huge income, nu-transferrable because of their wages, but never playing, then no teams wanting them, career over!
I hope I'm wrong, but I see things coming to a head due to the EPL's higher income per team compared to the rest of the world.
The EPL is the most watchable league in the world due to the competitiveness (see last match 10 v last Southhampton 0-1, I'm not even mentioning Spur's lol) but things need to change.
I can see a"super league" with unlimited budgets played within 8 teams, boring, boring unless these issues are resolved.
Long discussion/ rant, sorry people.
