It's all gone quiet on Drinkwater?
Anyone heard anything?
Think he would be an important signing for us.

Don't worry, Chelsea will 'ZAP' Drinkwater to Stamford Bridge. Our luck just turned for the good- with this ZAPACOSTA deal.

2.) 31 Aug 2017 16:02:00
Drinkwater is actually key signing, today.

3.) 31 Aug 2017 16:14:54
Leceister City are looking for a replacement before they can sell. Chelsea delayed this deal so much, but fingers crossed.

4.) 31 Aug 2017 17:09:39
Agree antibot . Drinkwater is the most important signing we can realistically make today. Hope we get him.
Ed018 what do you think?

{Ed018's Note - I think Drinkwater would be a good signing. I hope they can get it finalized}

5.) 31 Aug 2017 19:21:13
Deal will happen.

I read that Marin has signed for Olympiacos. Is that correct couldn't see anything on Chelsea website.
Good move for him, unfortunately never took off at Chelsea
If true all the best.

Just wondering what Ed001 thinks about Trevor Chalobah. He seemed to do a good job last season and now there looks like talk of him leaving on loan.
Do you think he had what it takes to hold down a first team spot?

BIGPHIL

{Ed001's Note - he is young and so inconsistent, as he doesn't yet have the experience needed for consistency. But I think the potential is there. He needs to play for Chelsea imo, rather than being farmed out on loan. I think he is good enough, especially with Silva alongside him, someone to talk him through and cover for the errors he will inevitably make as he learns.}

1.) 26 Aug 2022 17:18:08
Thanks for the reply Ed, always appreciate your knowledge around the players.
I would love to see him get a good amount of game time with us this year.

{Ed001's Note - you are very welcome BP.}

2.) 26 Aug 2022 17:42:34
I think his really good, sometimes tries to hard to win the ball or make the tackle when he doesn’t need to, like him and Cho with fofana and Gordon I’m
Not sure the more a great deal between them, for £130m it not a huge upgrade, IMO.

3.) 26 Aug 2022 21:03:53
I worry about Chalobah, I find him very rash he goes to ground at every opportunity and his headed clearances are very poor. He is now 23, so there is time for improvement. The latest news is that a deal is agreed for Fofana, so how much playing time will he get. I think he needs playing time to gain experience and confidence, so I think a loan would be best for him.

4.) 26 Aug 2022 21:42:00
Jimbo, have you ever had a good word to say about any Chelsea player, coach or manager?

5.) 26 Aug 2022 22:30:42
G8, if you think Chalobah is good enough to be a regular for Chelsea, you are entitled to your opinion. If you bothered to read other people’s posts instead of posting your own views which are never other than happy clappy, you would see that I have have been very supportive of Chelsea players who other posters have slated. As for TT, I have concerns as do many other posters . When you post try and give some objective critical analysis of why anyone should take your views seriously.

6.) 27 Aug 2022 21:23:49
Here here old boy.

7.) 27 Aug 2022 22:20:20
Chalobah impressed me last season. Played many games but at some point it seemed his form dropped a bit. But that happens. If he improves his 1v1 defending (where he was caught out a couple of times) I think he will be a solid player.

Article into why a Chelsea / Sarri combination will not give what we expect.

It depends how you want to see it, there are other, websites that say his napoli team play the best football in the world and its all his doing, different articles different opinions, i guess we got a choice the negative article or the positive one, i've personally chosen the positive version.

2.) 27 May 2018 13:20:01
Hi Cat
To be fair the article states that Sarri is a fantastic manager. It doubts the ability of our players to have the positional awareness and continuous work ethic to be able to play in his style. Watch the videos attached to the article I personally can't see our current group of players pulling it off. Hope I'm wrong as I think Napoli play great football and would love to see us emulate it.

As it looks like Loftus Cheek, s injury is worse than expected and may need surgery. Will he return to Chelsea for the treatment?
Hope he recovers well. Bad luck for the lad feel bad for him.

Hi eds.
I know you don't like to talk about the money side of the game and I know it doesn't affect us as fans. Hiwever do you see an end to the stupid prices that are getting thrown around or will it continue.
If the european break away league ever happens will this end the silly spending in England due to the money leaving with the other league? Obviously I know very little about this but am just interested if there is an end in sight if these huge fees being thrown around.

BIGPHIL

{Ed002's Note - It will indeed reshape the financial side of things.}

1.) 28 Jul 2017 21:04:07
Too right ed. I see this transfer window being the beginning of a massive clamp down on money. Its out of control. I can't see a way out. Time will tell.

2.) 30 Jul 2017 13:43:30
An interesting development will be Brexit - especially for the football league.

Sky have listed the possible 10. we are only involved in Zouma to Everton.
Still been a great window.
Very happy with what we have done.
Looking forward to another season.

Thanks to the Eds for your stella work, enjoy a well earned nap before the season starts tomorrow.

There is a chance that Jody loves our club and would rather stay with us for a long time in his current role. Otherwise he will get a chance at the big job and be gone after two maybe three seasons. Also why would we want to lose his expertise at developing our youth. If he wants the job I would be all for him being given a chance but I feel he can help our club development better in his current role.

No idea how he has been playing (if at all) but Luca Jovic at Madrid was thought of very highly before he moved. Don't know how that has gone but could work for us?

Maybe get Hazard back and Jovic for a decent price?

I agree. I miss the old game but that has gone the way of the dodo and the dinosaurs. I hope the people in charge of the transfers start to allow the loan army and the youth to fill the squad roles and spend big on one player a season who can improve the first 11. That is the change I hope for. we know we will always have a change of manager pretty regularly. Even before Roman took over this was the case. When was the last time we had a manager the lasted longer than 4 seasons? We have never really had a Ferguson or a Wenger and Undoubtedly we ever will. So whilst some changes will be needed in the recruitment process I don't believe allowing the manager that choice is the way to go for our club.

To he fair this has been our business model for a very long time and it has brought us success. We know our head coaches do not have a great deal of input into the players brought in. We have a team of people who look into that. I am sure there are lots of people who would prefer to have a manager who is in control of the transfers however this is not the way the club works and will not be changing its way anytime soon. I can only assume any coach coming in is aware of this information. (All information has been read from this site etc. I could have the wrong end of the stick-eds correct me if I am wrong)
