Good day Ed002, mind giving us a run down of our midfield ins and outs especially now that Ugarte is off the list? Thanks.

Dastanj

{Ed002's Note - Nope, the vegetables will be out in force if I share that sort of information.}

1.) 06 Jun 2023 13:22:41
Can I ask if Kone is still on the list?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

2.) 06 Jun 2023 13:27:49
Alright thanks.

3.) 06 Jun 2023 16:58:38
Do we hold any interest in Miminkovic Savic? For me he’s the best replacement for Kovacic and Mount.

{Ed002's Note - No.}

4.) 06 Jun 2023 17:28:51
Ok, thanks for the reply :)

Good day Ed2, any truth in the rumors of Chelsea agreeing a few with Leeds for Raphina?

Dastanj

{Ed002's Note - Raphinha (RW) Deco is working with his old club Barcelona to see through the transfer. The issue is that Leeds want a single cash payment of around €60M but Barcelona want a lower up-front payment. Deco will offer him elsewhere but will ask for a "Barcelona" get out clause - one club has already rejected that. PSG were looking to Raphinha as one of their list of potential Di Maria replacements. The interest to Bayern Munich has gone. Interest of Liverpool would only be as an option to replace Salah and again they have not spoken with Leeds as Salah will be looking to run down his contract over the next year. Chelsea have watched Raphinha as they are looking to change wide players but an offer seemed unlikely unless the request for the clause is removed - and it now has been. Arsenal and Spurs have both been approached by Deco and Arsenal have spoken to Leeds as they have a pressing need to add a wide player - but remain an unattractive option. Leeds will look to resist but if a really good offer were made from any leading club then the player would likely be interested in a move. Leeds will sell and have a replacement in mind. The player very much wants Barcelona but that isn't possible at this time. Leeds have a replacement in mind and will look to conclude matters quickly with Chelsea.}

1.) 29 Jun 2022 13:44:06
Thanks for the reply Ed.

2.) 29 Jun 2022 15:57:38
Ed002, any truth Barcelona have also now agreed a fee with Leeds?

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know. The Leeds representative has been in London today over another matter but I guess they could have changed their stance and found the cash from somewhere.}

3.) 29 Jun 2022 16:15:36
Raiding the back of the sofa again. Would you mind doing an explanation of Barcelona's finances on the European pages?

{Ed002's Note - Why?}

4.) 29 Jun 2022 17:33:11
Sorry Ed002; when you Leeds could have changed their stance and found the cash from somewhere;
A) what have Leeds changed their stance on?

{Ed002's Note - you misunderstand, the question was aboutBarcelona.}

5.) 29 Jun 2022 17:05:11
Every journalist describes them as in economic turmoil yet they seem to be signing Lewandowski, Koundé, Raphinha, possibly Bernardo Silva and Azpilicueta and Alonso.

{Ed002's Note - perhaps they don’t understand either.}

6.) 29 Jun 2022 18:04:40
Good player but if his heart is set on Barcelona and they have found the cash to buy him then so be it.
Seems like the club have been and are continuing to do everything they can to get this one over the line so I guess we will have to wait and see.

7.) 29 Jun 2022 18:13:16
Really hope Barcelona get Raphinha. That frees up Dembele to join Chelsea, who's a much superior player to Raphinha. Fingers crossed.

8.) 29 Jun 2022 18:45:18
Very unlikely but maybe both.

9.) 29 Jun 2022 22:46:27
I’d much rather Raphinha to Dembele. Dembele much too injury prone and not proven in the prem.

10.) 29 Jun 2022 22:11:20
I could be wrong but I think Barcelona have done stuff like the Spotify deal and sold their la liga tv rights in order to free up some cash to help them in the short term. There might be longer term financial concerns but they have cash for transfers for the time being.

11.) 29 Jun 2022 23:14:31
Or maybe they will be raising cash from player sales to other clubs!

12.) 29 Jun 2022 23:54:42
Yet Roman left us in great shape and where pussy footing about! I get if his hearts in Barcelona then let it go and go for someone else but to fair every write up I read on here and papers about who Chelsea are so called linked with they all want to go to Real Madrid or Barcelona. I think the last world class player who actually truly wanted to join us was Hazard. I think we are now just a club that is 6th 7th thought in a players mind for them to join, especially the high end so called world class players. We don’t have much chance of pulling off the big boys that’s probably why it’s taking so long to do the kounde deal he’s probably just waiting for real or Barcelona to phone, if not he’ll join.
Long season ahead.

13.) 30 Jun 2022 01:44:39
How’s it p. y footing around if we’re 6/ 7th on players lists and they’re waiting for Real/ Barca to come in for them? We can’t force a player to join us if they’re waiting to see if a different club comes in for them ?

I still believe we’re a big draw, Real/ Barca have always and will likely forever be the dream destination for the vast amount of players but that doesn’t mean players don’t jump at the chance to sign for us.

14.) 30 Jun 2022 05:57:14
It should be something to celebrate that we are rated so highly (6th-7th) as a global football club.

It’s also fantastic that thanks to our success and owner investment, so many fans have only had good times.

15.) 30 Jun 2022 09:36:17
Think Raphinha would have been a great purchase, but clearly he would prefer Barcelona and looks as though he may het his wish. If we get him, think he would greatly improve a fight/ physicality up front apart from fact that he has suoperb skills.

16.) 30 Jun 2022 09:41:05
Fuser that’s what am saying the youth hopefully want to be at the club and will put the effort in and want to play for Chelsea but we get rid of them as we don’t want to give them guaranteed game time but then sign someone who doesn’t actually want to be here but because his first and second choice don’t want him will have him.

17.) 30 Jun 2022 09:43:21
Would add that rightly or wrongly I have been far more excited by propect of Raphina joining than Sterling.

18.) 30 Jun 2022 09:49:28
And not happy if Pulisic leaves unless replaced by clearly superior player.

19.) 30 Jun 2022 10:53:17
Of course it’s good if a player actually wants to play for us rather than being second choice but I guess as long as they give 100% it doesn’t matter. I would prefer us to go for young hungry players but TT doesn’t really go for that; he is not someone who can bring players on and improve them. Look at Brighton they brought in Fofana and Cucurella . It makes you wonder if our scouting/ recruitment staff are worth their salt. On separate issue, if we bring in Raphinha and Sterling, where does Mount fit in? I don’t really see him flourishing in a midfield three.

20.) 30 Jun 2022 11:45:34
Jimbo, I totally disagree about Mount. He will have a field day with the likes of Sterling and Raphinha in our side. He plays best between the lines and having players that are willing to press as well has he does will be brilliant for him and therefore the team.

He has been voted again by fans as our POS and with better players around him he will improve further in my opinion.

21.) 30 Jun 2022 11:51:07
Jimbo, all the players we are being linked with seem to be around the 25 years of age mark. They should still be hungry, whatever that means!

22.) 30 Jun 2022 12:03:30
Don’t think he will play when Conner finds he feet.

23.) 30 Jun 2022 15:05:54
I disagree Nib. CG improved one hell of a lot last year but there were still times he reverted to his headless running style.

I think CG will battle with Kovacic for his place anyway.

24.) 30 Jun 2022 15:49:37
Tom, when I say hungry I mean up and coming and wanting to prove themselves: the players we are looking need to already think they are the bees knees.

25.) 30 Jun 2022 16:06:43
The likes of Sterling and Ake have proved themselves at the highest level. I think that counts for a lot.

Some of the prices being paid for players with zero Premiership experience look crazy in comparison to the lads from City.

26.) 30 Jun 2022 17:10:37
Ake played at this highest level: when does he play: crazy prices yes 40 mill for a City bench warmer. Don’t see Kova being dislodged: our most consistent midfielder and Mount will not be best utilised in a midfield three. Anyway, we don’t actually know who we will sign: there is still hope.

27.) 30 Jun 2022 18:37:53
Jimbo you are running the risk of being obsessed about the cost of the player. Can I suggest we let the club worry about him being value for money.

Not a single poster has said he isn’t better than Sarr and I except that is a very, very low bar but obviously TT rates him. Mind you, he rated Lukaku!

28.) 01 Jul 2022 07:27:50
ED002, Wouldn't Chelsea rather have a player happy to be at the club. with Raphinha, seems like he is waiting for Barcelona.

Would the board and TT be happy to have such a player on board despite knowing what happened with Lukaku.

What is your take on this? wise move from our part?

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with Lukaku.}

01 Apr 2020 12:46:16
Hello Ed, how's life in isolation? Any truth in our reported interest in Donarumma? Many reports about chelsea being interested in him.
Hope you and the family is doing great.

Dastanj

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea has not made any decision over changing goalkeepers at this time and have a bunch they have considered if tehy do decide to make a change. If Donnarumma were to be available he would be one of interest.}

20 Dec 2019 06:07:43
Hello Eds, any truth in Chelsea making a bid for Isco or them being interested at all?

Dastanj

{Ed002's Note - Isco has been offered to Chelsea in order to make space for his replacement.}

1.) 20 Dec 2019 08:50:13
Can I ask his replacement,? I was a big Isco fan a while back but he hasn’t seemed himself in recent seasons,

{Ed002's Note - The want Eriksen.}

2.) 20 Dec 2019 09:06:29
Cheers ed, Chelsea have preferable targets to Isco or Are chelsea keen also.

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea has other options.}

3.) 20 Dec 2019 09:10:24
Hi Ed - interesting to read as a Dane. Are any other clubs interested in Eriksen?
Would love to see him at Chelsea, although I would imagine that it's unlikely?

{Ed002's Note - Wrong page.}

4.) 20 Dec 2019 09:51:51
It's only an opinion, but I've always liked Isco. A very neat technical player who has the ability to unlock defences. He is different to what we have and could be a good option.

5.) 20 Dec 2019 09:31:01
Oops, my mistake!

6.) 20 Dec 2019 09:34:22
Ed who are chelseas other optiions? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - It is no different than that which been explained before.}

7.) 20 Dec 2019 10:23:21
Hi Ed, sorry if it comes across as a bad one but could you help with the other options in that position for Chelsea. Though we all await your update and will be happy whenever convenient but this might be of help
Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - It is no different than that which been explained before.}

8.) 20 Dec 2019 10:50:16
, ILO, I’ve seen havertz is of interest but price is putting Chelsea off, sand with sancho. Zaha is Lampard a choice, Werner but lots teams interested, then if u go by papers dembele Chukwueze Bailey, Bruno Guimareas* not sure on defenders apart from ake.

{Ed002's Note - You can likely forget Bruno Guimaraes.}

9.) 20 Dec 2019 12:52:33
I wasn’t even sure there was legitimate interest, lots of talk of Haaland United today. Was hoping RB Leipzig got him and we had clear run at Werner, or at least they had there replacement.

10.) 20 Dec 2019 13:23:53
Thats annoying, guimaraes would of been very good and i thought we were likely to get him tbh, what is the reason? Also is the reported interested in chukwueze true? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - (a) He will likely move elsewhere. (b) SC is one of many players that have been watched by Chelsea.}

07 Jul 2017 19:46:41
Seen Ed002 on the Everton page say that chelsea are yet to submit a bid for Lukaku for reasons he gave before. Going by this I wonder if we were ever really in discussion with him as reported in the media before. And assuming we weren't it definitely means the club have another player in mind for the striker position. Looks like we are going to have to endure for some more time.

Dastanj

1.) 07 Jul 2017 19:56:59
With the news today that fee not agreed to me now it shows as we haven't gone in that he wasn't conte first choice, my worry is we sign morata ( sorry cat ) but his a CF not a striker, I read someone say about cheeky bid for cavani. His older now but would do a job. Him and contes first choice would be brilliant, apparently going in for blade Keita off lazio, dunno how true.

2.) 07 Jul 2017 20:47:26
I'd be delighted with Morata.

3.) 07 Jul 2017 21:01:40
Telegraph this evening saying we have matched offer and decision down to player. And something about Chelsea not wanting to pay agent fee's.

4.) 07 Jul 2017 23:02:17
And sky journo saying united out bid us and united bound. this is draining night.

5.) 07 Jul 2017 23:43:37
Why would people be happy with Morata really? He scored 9 goals more then Alonso last season? Bats scored 5 and hardly played at all.! No where near worth the £75m Madrid are asking for him.

6.) 07 Jul 2017 23:46:32
Lukaku will sign for United 100%.

7.) 08 Jul 2017 13:02:37
Should have got rid of Emanalo ages ago, always thought he has a hidden agenda. Just close the deals and don't hang around like we do. We have a player who wanted to join Chelsea, but ended up at United .

8.) 08 Jul 2017 13:56:21
Why, all of a sudden, is it down to Emenalo? There are lots of different people involved in transfer activity at the club.

Hi ed01,what do you make of Poch's tactics and system so far? Seems to me like he's putting square pegs on round hole. Chilwell is a left back but why pit the guy at left wing? And our formation, is it 343 or 4231? It feels like he's the one holding the team back at the moment. Too many defenders in the team and not enough attackers.

Dastanj

{Ed001's Note - I think he is trying to make the best of the hand he has been dealt. He is attempting to use the players to their strengths with a flexible formation that gives Chilwell freedom to charge forward at will, which is what he is best at doing. I do wonder why he is not using Lavia though, he is the only true DM in the squad but he is sitting in the stands, which makes little sense. That is the mistake he is making imo. Put him in and you have a much more solid base to build off and it gives the rest of the midfield the freedom to play their games.}

1.) 07 Sep 2023 14:44:44
The manager said a few weeks ago he was short of match fitness and it would take several weeks for him to be fit to play.

{Ed001's Note - I know what the manager said, but I don't believe that sitting a player in the stands helps them gain match fitness.}

2.) 07 Sep 2023 14:45:18
HiEd001, many thanks for comments, but on Lavia I think Poch has stated that he has not been selected up to now as not seen to be match fit. I think the idea is for Poch to introduce him after the International break as Lavia was also given leave not to be called up by Belgian national team so he could work on his fitness.

{Ed001's Note - playing games is the best way to improve fitness.}

3.) 07 Sep 2023 15:11:18
I may well have muddied Lavia up with another player but I seem to remember he was ready to play and then had a setback.

Probably just being over cautious this time.

{Ed002's Note - Lavia has not been available but will soon be.}

4.) 07 Sep 2023 15:09:18
Thanks for the reply Ed. Hopefully things pick up for us soon. Can't bear another season like last's.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

5.) 07 Sep 2023 15:18:47
Ed02. That’s good news and thanks for the update.

6.) 07 Sep 2023 20:12:58
Playing an unfit player is also a recipe for an injury happening and given our recent record its very understandable why the manager and club are being cautious.

05 May 2023 16:19:28
Hello Ed01, are we still interested in Manu Kone and Dominik Soboszlai with a view for the summer transfer?

Dastanj

{Ed001's Note - no idea sorry.}

1.) 05 May 2023 21:59:49
Alright thanks.

15 Oct 2022 10:48:43
So question to the Eds and guys, is it time to let Kante go and move on considering his injury record?

Dastanj

1.) 15 Oct 2022 14:18:44
V v unfortunately but I’d say yes. He’s either our highest paid or top 3 in the squad and he’s barely making it on the pitch for 50% of our games at this point. He’s a phenomenal player who’s been incredible for us but at this point we perhaps need to start the midfield revolution.

2.) 15 Oct 2022 14:35:43
NO. He is a class player. Find out why the underlying problem is, cure it and then let him play!

3.) 15 Oct 2022 17:13:17
I think his body may be catching up with him and if that's the case it may be best to move on.
We have access to world class medics and physios and if there's any issue other than age and his body catching up I'm sure they woulda noticed.

4.) 15 Oct 2022 21:21:01
Tom, I regrettably disagree about Kante; it’s too late to investigate his injury issues, we need a refresh in midfield: individually and collectively our midfield lacks creativity and fitness. That is not the only problem, still no cover for James and with Fofana injured a lack of quality CBs and far too many wide players; the squad is disjointed. Interestingly, I read that we have got rid of some our medical staff and brought in a medical consultancy.

5.) 15 Oct 2022 23:39:03
Jimbo, im not going to give up on one of our truly world class players.

I am happy enough with our CH’s and it’s been made a lot easier as TC has continued to improve.

James missing until after the World Cup is a blow but fingers crossed we can get through the next few league and cup games.

6.) 16 Oct 2022 10:47:52
Tom it’s no a question of giving up on Kante, his contract is up at the end of the season. He is likely to be offered a one year extension which would probably not suit him so we must move on and plan for the future. I am not as confident about our CB options. So we have KK, Silva can’t play every game, Dave and Cucurella can fill in in a back three but not if we play a back four and unfortunately I don’t trust TC to be a regular starter. As for James, of course, we will have to do without him but he has had a lot of injuries and there is no real backup for him which has been obvious for some time.

7.) 16 Oct 2022 12:10:07
Jimbo, you forgot Fofana.

8.) 16 Oct 2022 12:41:11
I agree with Tom on this, kante is a unique player and deserves patience and solutions for his injuries sought rather than letting him go without trying to help him come out of his injury issues. Player like kante is not always easy to come by and deserves rlc kind of treatment regardless of how much he earns.

9.) 16 Oct 2022 15:55:22
Tom didn’t make it clear I was referring to who we have available now where we have a specialist CB out injured.

10.) 16 Oct 2022 17:59:49
I’m with TomB on this. Kante is a title winning player, he is incredible. IF he is going to move on then Chelsea must sign Rice from WHU, that is the only player that might make up for the loss of Kante. It may be that N’Golo wants the longer deals, which for me doesn’t square with him as a person. Apparently he is totally humble, generous and devout. In fact even if Chelsea keep him they should STILL sign Declan I want another PL or CL title.

11.) 16 Oct 2022 18:50:09
Stephen, one way or the other Kante isn’t going to be around much longer. As for Rice, he certainly isn’t worth the fee that reportedly WHU are asking. We clearly will need a holding midfielder but what we need even more is a top class creative midfielder and another top class CB and, of course, a goal scorer. If we could get those four we would definitely challenge of the title.

12.) 16 Oct 2022 20:57:46
Fofana will be back in the squad around the time of the World Cup. We don’t need to splash the cash every time we get an injured player. We have plenty of cover in that position.

If Kante can get over the recurring injury issue he could be a top player at our club for the next three years. Of course what we may offer him as a contract maybe a different issue.

29 Jul 2022 16:22:57
Monchi coming out to state that Chelsea actually had cold feet regarding signing Kounde after agreeing a deal with both club and player last Thursday. If they weren't sure about the guy why the stress in the first place? Can't blame him for choosing Barca.
Hope they actually have a plan in place to fill the gaps.

Dastanj

06 Aug 2020 23:37:15
Hello Ed01, just want to pick your brain on Havertz. Is the boy really that good and worth the money being reported in the media (€100m)? Compared to Sancho who do you think will improve the team better and who will be the better buy financially?
N. B great deal by City for Ferran Torres. I think the others missed a bargain here.
Thanks for your time.

Dastanj

{Ed001's Note - you can't compare the money or the players, they play different roles in the team. Sancho is not a direct comparison with Havertz in any way. Havertz is an excellent player, has been outstanding this season but it is difficult to see how any player can truly be described as worth 100m in the current financial climate. However, that is the asking price and if that is the position the club see as a priority position then there are no other options I have seen that would be better than him for that role in the team.}

1.) 07 Aug 2020 06:58:03
Thanks for your time Ed. Hope the deal goes through doon enough.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome D.}

2.) 07 Aug 2020 20:55:49
It’s a sellers market, I remember last year arguing with a season ticket friend of mine at palace saying zaha isn’t worth £70, he said he is worth thst to palace if he keeps them up, Bayer haven’t got to sell so they will push a price up knowing if he stays or goes it’s fine with them, also clubs will know we’ve had a nan and not spent / champions league last year and this / sold hazard / morata so will push there luck . How much is it worth to us to add a goalscorer from midfield for the next 5-10 years?

He advised the player not to move too early during his career and to stay at Anderlecht to develop his game better. It wasn't a case of him not wanting a player to join Chelsea.

Wow, thanks Ed. Hopefully things get better this time around and we don't regret it.

Dastanj

{Ed001's Note - I think it will probably take a bit of time. There are too many settled teams playing at a high level for immediate success. It comes down to finding the right people to fit the club, it takes time to build that platform. Most teams, such as BHA and Brentford, had years out of the spotlight to build it. Man City took time to reach the top even with their spending. Liverpool had to stand by Klopp when he was getting slaughtered in the media. Chelsea are at the start of a new journey, patience is required now.}
