From Ed on Everton page regardiner Lukaku

{Ed002's Note - I did not say anything about "top brass". What I said was that the two people at the club who were particularly offended have agreed to sanction an offer although one still remains concerned. Whilst not first choice for Chelsea and whilst they will not pay the price being asked, the player wants to return and Everton know that. So it is possible. Napoli remains a possibility but not at the asking price. In the interim, Chelsea are keen to ensure that they have sufficient cover are now (today) talking with a representative of another striker. I very much doubt they will be interested in being screwed around. }.

I guess this is icardi?

2.) 09 Aug 2016 16:35:57
Santos President apparently in London - Maia and Barbosa.

3.) 09 Aug 2016 19:44:58
Hope so adam.

22 Jul 2016 11:25:09
Sources saying it will cost chelsea £67mil to sign morata. The question is will chelsea pay it?

Hitman316

1.) 22 Jul 2016 13:35:05
£8m cheaper then Lukaku (apparently! )
£42m more expensive then Barbosa!

Only Chelsea knows mate.

2.) 22 Jul 2016 14:12:10
Why not throw in another 30 and steal pogba lol now that would be funny imagine joses face.

3.) 22 Jul 2016 15:13:01
It's only another £20m if I'm right in thinking. We offered €100m last year. And United have offered €120m.

Think that's correct, isn't it?

4.) 22 Jul 2016 20:51:38
Pogba to Chelsea is not happening. it's been confirmed many times.

5.) 22 Jul 2016 23:47:11
We're not saying that Steve. Think everyone and his dog knows that Chelsea aren't signing Paul Pogba.

15 Jul 2016 17:36:56
Hi Ed

Can you clear up the Morata situation for me please I have used the search engine but unable to find the answer to.

With Chelseas offer being rejected does that mean Real Madrid have put a "not for sale" sign on him or does it mean Chelseas offer didn't meet Real Madrids valuation? If it's the latter have Chelsea been told what the valuation is?

Thanks Ed.

Hitman316

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea made an offer for Morata that was below what Real Madrid were looking for and Chelsea knew the asking price. But for know, Real Madrid are not discussing Morata leaving and will look to hang on to him - whilst other forwards at the club will be allowed to move on. Perhaps towards the end of the window things will change - but not for now.}

1.) 15 Jul 2016 18:09:46
Thanks Ed much appreciated.

03 Jul 2016 21:56:25
Hi Ed

I read on another teams page that you are aware what is going on with Pogba, would you care to share with us where he will end up?

All the best.

Hitman316

{Ed002's Note - There is a meeting on Tuesday to see if two open issues can be resolved - it is nothing to do with Chelsea.}

1.) 03 Jul 2016 22:13:32
Thanks Ed I understand it's nothing to do with Chelsea so which page should I ask another question on?

{Ed002's Note - It depends what the question is about.}

2.) 03 Jul 2016 22:24:43
I like this game

OK so the question is.

I've read on another teams page that there is a have a meeting to discuss 2 open issues regarding Pogba could you tell us what the issues are? (Please don't say it is unimportant)

{Ed002's Note - It is completely unimportant.}

3.) 03 Jul 2016 22:28:58
Haha fair enough Ed, have a good evening.

4.) 03 Jul 2016 22:40:49
If the fee muted and wages muted are true, they are outrageous and appauling. Could probably sign Kroos and Kante for that amount and still have a decent chunk left!

5.) 03 Jul 2016 23:27:42
Like you said earlier Ed I think Kante would be a much better but even for a quarter of the price. I do like Pogba but he is over-rated. If Loftus-Cheek could significantly improve his work rate under Conte I think we'd have a very talented player on our hands because that's all that's lacking from him I think he's got the technique and his runs forward once he gets into gear are superb reminds me of Yaya Toure but without the goals.

6.) 04 Jul 2016 16:59:39
I totally agree that Pogba is over-rated. I just don't understand it - I have seen Pogba play about 20 times and I can honestly say that he was a big influence on the play in a handful of those games. I'm not saying that he is not a good player, but his price and wages do not match his performance.

7.) 04 Jul 2016 22:52:50
Screw pogba, although I admire his footballing abilities, we have loftus cheek! Under the right management, not mourinho nor hiddink, I think conte will drive him to be a top top midfielder.

Hey Ed's

Is there any further news on what is likely to happen as regards a transfer of Messi? I remember reading the detailed review you put up some time ago.

All the hard work is much appreciated

Hitman316.

Hitman316

{Ed002's Note - It would not be an FFP issue in any one year for a number of clubs but it would be an issue for any club looking to do any other business over forthcoming years. And the amounts of money involved are well beyond significant. As I have explained before, although Barcelona have not been hawking Messi around, my expectation remains that Messi will be available and Barcelona will start looking to rebuild around Neymar from January 2016 when they can start bring players in again. And I expect that Barcelona will make Messi available from next summer - regardless of who the manager is at that time. Whether or not there would be any takers is another matter, and Barcelona are well aware of that and are looking at the same of others to raise funds. A number of questions were asked of representatives of UEFA in December 2014 regarding the transfer of the financially very high-end players and the impact on FFP. It is clear that exceptions would need to be put in place as the alternative could be lawsuits from players regarding restrictions on trade. In the past Messi has turned down a transfer to one side who had agreed to meet Barcelona's then €250M price tag, and Barcelona and a commercial partner resisted an approach by a commercial organisation on behalf of an English side with an offer to buy, or at least part fund, the player. I am aware that in Spain there has been speculation about an offer being made during the summer 2014 transfer window, but it is "largely" incorrect. This all started in 2012 when in mid December Anzhi made an offer to Barcelona that matched the €250M euro release clause that existed in his contract, and put up what I am told was a "very" significant personal package. However, Messi was not interested in a move to Russia and Barcelona did not want to sell - so Messi, in early February 2013, extended his contract with Barcelona. In the early summer of 2013 efforts were being made by Adidas to broker a deal that would get Messi away from Nike and to one of their three high-profile clubs. Very quickly Real Madrid were ruled out and with Pep Guardiola moving to Bayern Munich that pretty much saw the end of any chance of a move there (given the strained relationship) at the time. This left Chelsea and I can confirm that discussions were held about making a firm bid - at this point we are in late 2013 and early 2014 and Messi was in a verbal spat with Barcelona about getting a further extension - which the club were against. Ultimately, the player was (at least in his eyes) available during the Spring of 2014 and at that point Chelsea and Adidas made his management representatives and Barcelona aware of what they would be willing to do to make a transfer happen. Since then he has again extended his contract with Barcelona. I understand that again they see three possible destinations for the player but I am not going to get involved in any further speculation at this time. The situation will be if the right money were offered then Barcelona would be open to selling - and if the package were good enough, the player would consider any offers. The difficulties include his tax issues and the vast amounts of money involved.}

1.) 28 Oct 2015 04:24:41
I would be over the moon to see Messi done in blue shirt but that is my concern for the club with Mou in charge. I personally doubt if Messi would like to play in a Mourinho's team. Mou would rather change a player to suit his style rather than play to player's strenght $ thrive better in a very fluid team. Similar will think twice b4 joining us I feel Mou's weakness have revealed since coaching Madrid $ his second coming to us. I doubt if Mou can make us the world admired brand like Barca, Bayern, Real, etc. He can win us trophies in d short term but will make us look like wealth emassed through illegal means to the football world. Still suprised Mata left $ Hazard to follow soon $ we play Fabregas week in week out.

Ed,

It's now been the 2-3 days since KK's agent said it would be resolved. Do you know if there has been any further developments?

Hitman316

1.) 14 Aug 2016 10:57:51
Further development is Maksimovic is pushing for a move to Napoli.

2.) 14 Aug 2016 11:07:13
I've seen reports he's been offered a new deal with higher wages, looks like this ship has sailed.

12 Aug 2016 13:16:04
Ed do you expect the Olympics to have finished before the Maio and Barbosa deals get finalised, to whichever clubs?

Hitman316

{Ed018's Note - I would think so}

11 Aug 2016 14:20:35
Reading today that Match will leave and will be replaced by matuidi in a £43million move.

Hitman316

1.) 11 Aug 2016 14:55:43
Where the heck did you read that?

Kante and Matuidi? If we have both of them with Fabregas just floating in front of them I think that would be the best midfield in England, scratch that in Europe, scratch that again the world.

2.) 11 Aug 2016 15:35:42
i've seen it too that matuidi is of interest to chelsea. not sure if they still are looking at the player tho.

3.) 11 Aug 2016 15:51:28
In a red top, unfortunately! They also say Pedro wants out and a. Madrid are interested (Pedro to replace Griezmann? ) Just a thought, ever the optimist.

4.) 12 Aug 2016 23:03:58
Don't rate Matuidi myself. Reminds me of a crab!

03 Aug 2016 10:01:57
Ed002 when are you coming back? We miss you!

Hitman316

02 Aug 2016 09:41:12
Eds can you help?

I'm struggling to understand Chelseas recruitment process. I don't understand why we are prepared to pay £68 million (reported) for Lukaku our 2nd choice striker, but we are unwilling (reported) to pay the £65 million Real Madrid want for Morata who is/ was our 1st choice striker.

Just doesn't make sense to me.

Hitman316

1.) 02 Aug 2016 10:51:01
ed always say don't get involved with the fees - it is only this window that I have begun to agree.

firstly, who cares? we have no chance of being the biggest spenders so will no longer get constantly ripped about buying the league

secondly, its not our money it is the clubs and we sure as hell don't find out the truth about wages and running costs week to week so why care so much about the difference of 5/ 10M In transfer fees.

thirdly, the papers speak utter pish when It comes to fiqures (imo)

on another note I have seen a twitter account ( reasonably reliable) claiming arsenal have been in talks for griezza, please somebody tell me this won't happen and that they are in fact going to lose ozil instead :) :) :)

2.) 02 Aug 2016 11:42:29
You missed the point entirely.

Why pay more for 2nd choice when the 1st is cheaper.

To be fair if you read rumours from Twitter then I fear you won't understand anyway.

3.) 02 Aug 2016 11:58:53
Actually caring about the club is also care about club finance. I know we can't be biggest spender or its not our money. But an amount like that will burden club finance and spending for a few years (just like Torres) so i would prefer we spend it on someone worthy.

4.) 02 Aug 2016 11:59:08
Ed said stop worrying about money! Everton still owe money to Chelsea for the lukaku deal still.

5.) 02 Aug 2016 12:02:22
That's only the headline figure though (if that is a true figure) . Agent fees, signing-on fees. wages, etc. all add to the overall transfer.

6.) 02 Aug 2016 12:20:45
Pinky the actual figure is irrelevant it's the principle of the situation.

7.) 02 Aug 2016 13:06:49
hitman - how do you know if lukaku would be more expensive than morata?

hitman - yes a lot of twitter is unreliable but there are obviously some accouwhich are closer to the truth than others. for example if jim white says something is confirmed on his twitter then I will believe it, would you disagree? additionally you say due to the fact I read twitter rumours you fear i'd understand, sorry bt there is no problem with reading them and I have not once said I have believed any.

8.) 02 Aug 2016 13:07:37
It's not the amount that's the problem, it's the amount we will spend on the wrong player that's the problem, if £67 million is the correct figure, I would prefer to bid the same for griessmen, or even a bit more, I think we could get almost any striker in the world for £70 million, we could probably get laczette, and Harry Kane, for that type of money .

9.) 02 Aug 2016 13:21:05
Football and principals don't go together mate.

10.) 02 Aug 2016 13:55:45
Hey Fellas, long time reader (over 3 years) first time poster. Awesome site by the way, love the banter and general chit chat. My 2 cents I'm neither here nor there with the Lukaku transfer, he plays well in an Everton team that he is afforded a lot of space to run into. I don't see that been the case when he plays for us, but he is young so there's plenty of time to develop and that's where the fee comes from. I really hope Costa stays as he is the closest to world class striker we will have even with Lukaku. Lastly with the Griezman and Morata links, I have a feeling it's more of a case of them not wanting to move which therefore makes the money we offer irrelevant. Exciting transfer window nonetheless and can't wait for the season ahead!

Ed04 totally agree with that however who is available at the moment who would fit into that mould?

Hitman316

{Ed004's Note - I think its unlikely Costa will leave in January - the deal will still be there in the summer for him. So it would just mean monitoring the likes of Aubameyang, Morata and Icardi for the rest of the season. They're probably the most similar types of player that Costa is. Sign an upgraded right sided player and I don't think it would impact Chelsea as badly as a January move would}

I agree with you fuser I'd also go all out for Dybala and I would also try and get Sanchez from Arsenal.

Hitman316

{Ed004's Note - If you went for the players you suggested, no doubt they would improve you - but would you be missing a focal point in the attack? From watching a few Chelsea games, Costa is vital part to your current system}

Yes I know I'm clutching at straws but chelsea do have the ability to make such an offer, so until the window closes I'm holding out hope.
