Matt Law has said Chelsea will likely announce the sacking of Frank Lampard today. Say it ain't so : (.

JCFC

1.) 25 Jan 2021 10:12:32
Seems like it and TT is on the way in.

Sad but hoping that FL gains some experience elsewhere and will be back sometime in the future.

KTBFFH.

2.) 25 Jan 2021 10:16:33
Absolutely stupid and awful decision if it's true.

3.) 25 Jan 2021 10:43:49
It's been coming.

4.) 25 Jan 2021 11:19:48
Why Ash his record speaks for itself sad day but it has been coming for weeks.

5.) 25 Jan 2021 11:28:34
I mean he hasn't done great, but the board buying havertz for 90 million when he wasn't needed was ludicrous at best.

6.) 25 Jan 2021 11:58:46
Ashk121; I don’t think it’s a stupid decision esp as the incoming manager (Tuchel) will on an 18- month contract.

7.) 25 Jan 2021 12:51:53
Ludicrous. ok.

8.) 25 Jan 2021 13:33:55
We have mount and ziyech as number 10's, why'd we need another one?

9.) 26 Jan 2021 07:43:42
Ashk it's lack of that decision that actually best fit your ever sentimental positions. im not surprised a the decision because it was always coming Frank become thoughtless anw we became so soft for any opposition. even the weakest if all the top teams in the league. his legendary status here actually delayed it til this moment. nobither coach could have still been around with the situation Lampard has put us in. can't remember a weaker Chelsea squad even after spending mlan unprecedented amount in the transfer window and he didn't seem to even know his strongest team or know how to use some players considered assets for the club thereby meaning them lose value by the day . It's only normal especially with Chelsea to let him go. U would have felt disappointed with RA I'd he didn't do thneedful regardless of the sentiments becuese the interest of the club is on the line. Live for k but I live Chelsea more an anyone who's not helping Chelsea grow I should be taken out of the way. we we're fast loosing our appeal in the transfer market with the way Fran was handling players that even Messi won't be sure if playing I n his preferred position with Frank in charge especially if th we re is another English pet player in contention for thposition regardless of whether such player is actually delivring or not. mount captaining the team was favour taken too far. Can't find the justification as tht could damage the team spirit. we were certainly gointi lose to wolves both him and away this season judging by the team performances and players disposition. much worse for someone who skno it all at Chelsea.
U dare say that any better experienced coach will certainly do better with these lads and don't be surprised to see us back to it dinner than the nat Sayers would imagine.

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Xavier Mbuyamba on a contract until 2023. He will join the development squad. Good prospect in fairness.

JCFC

1.) 20 Aug 2020 19:28:04
Really looking forward to seeing him play with the development squad. Hope he'll feature in a couple of cup games too unless he goes out on loan.

2.) 22 Aug 2020 21:50:54
I look forward to seeing him play too could be an exciting prospect.

29 Jan 2020 14:17:40
Chelsea in talks for Dries Mertens according to DiMarzio. not sure if there is any truth to it though.

JCFC

1.) 29 Jan 2020 14:42:55
Ed002
Would you have time to comment on our interest in Mertens and if it has a chance of being concluded?
Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Dries Mertens is a player that Chelsea have considered but only want him to the summer and have been told the asking price - which for a player who is 32 and out of contract in the summer is ridiculous and it makes no sense for the player to move now rather than negotiate a lucrative pre-contract.}

2.) 29 Jan 2020 19:47:44
Lovely stuff. Cheers Ed002 for cutting through the bull being posted on social media today. Much appreciated.

3.) 29 Jan 2020 22:46:51
Ed any other names of strikers we could go for.

{Ed002's Note - Nothing beyond what has been said as far as I know at the moment.}

4.) 29 Jan 2020 22:53:43
Many thanks for cutting through the nonsense again ED002 always appreciated.

5.) 30 Jan 2020 09:33:27
I take this as a positive . i feel that we already have a clear target for the summer window and don't want someone to come in beyond that period.

Dries Mertens / Cavani would have been perfect till summer but if we can't get either then its not worth spending this window.

6.) 30 Jan 2020 09:49:10
Mertens would be good buy, can cover either Wing or Striker Position.

30 Jul 2017 19:33:47
Ed002,

Would a club generally negotiate for there number one target in a certain position then move to the next if uncussesful or would they negotiate simultaneously for targets in the same position? Forgive me if that makes no sense! I quite enjoy your insite into how transfers actually work, it's fascinating actually.

JCFC

{Ed002's Note - You don't try to negotiate to buy players for the same position at the same time but you do establish if it is a viable opportunity or not. Once that is established you figure out some sort of plan.}

30 Jul 2017 15:12:39
Matic deal completed.

JCFC

1.) 30 Jul 2017 15:41:32
For the reported fee it's a good deal. Read a while ago that Conte was told he needs to sell to buy, don't buy into that but it would make sense with our slow dealings in the market. Not trying to come of as a moaner but our squad is soo thin and with even Conte taking digs at Chelsea about our transfer business and our last two games despite being pre-season games, the team needs improving. Aren't many realistic options out their that improve our starting 11 anymore. Just hope Conte gets good enough players, his words of late haven't gotten many Chelsea fans hopeful for the new season.

2.) 30 Jul 2017 16:26:43
There's nothing good about it. He brought dominance to Chelsea's midfield.

3.) 30 Jul 2017 17:04:22
Yes, Matic appeared to be getting back to best last season - though several on here think that he is past his best and too slow - and that we have sold him to United hurts. I am hanging on to ed 002's advice not to worry, that more deals will be done, but right now our squad seems even thinner than last year and we have the ECL as well as EPL this season.

{Ed018's Note - Kante did a lot of covering for Matic. He's still a solid player but he can't be counted on to cover much ground. He will be good in a 3 man midfield playing the holding role. He will struggle a little bit in a 2 man midfield}

4.) 30 Jul 2017 17:18:37
CM is down to just 2 fit players now. And we have Spurs and Everton in August. We could be in trouble.

{Ed018's Note - and those are matches, especially the one against Spurs that Fabregas will struggle in}

5.) 30 Jul 2017 17:21:36
Ed018 can we have little update on transfers, tried searching posts and really don't want to pester 002,

{Ed018's Note - nothing has changed at the moment to the best of my knowledge}

6.) 30 Jul 2017 17:28:39
Thanks for comments Ed018, appreciated.

7.) 30 Jul 2017 18:19:37
Sounds like we'll be after another cm.

Matic was great, but not complete. Bakayoko is an upgrade.

Renato Sanchez is feeling like a possibility and weren't we in for a young Russian that was recommended by Leonard Slutzky?

{Ed002's Note - Golorov.}

8.) 30 Jul 2017 18:30:29
Thought that was Golovin?

{Ed002's Note - His sister.}

9.) 30 Jul 2017 18:01:42
Exactly, Ed018. Fabregas will struggle with the bigger teams giving him no space and constantly pressing the midfield. Kante struggles with that as well. Plus Kante gets massively exposed because Fab can't cover people in any way.

Holy hell, it's going to be tough.

10.) 30 Jul 2017 19:19:35
Plenty of time to go. Selling Matic is good business. That's money I'm sure will be reinvested in the squad. Now is not the time to worry. We still have plenty of time to bring body's in. I think we have bought well so far. Bar Costa we so far have a stronger squad that what won the league last season (granted a bit thin now we have more games) The positive thing also is that we are still looking to bring in 3-4 players. If we can get another CM and cover/ starters for the WB positions we will be laughing.

11.) 30 Jul 2017 19:31:59
With a month to go we need players bedded in and the longer we take the more teams will hold out for top money. My biggest worry is our vulnerability to pace in defence. I know we are training and other teams were ahead of us but we looked like cart horses against Bayern and Inter and several teams exposed us last year.

12.) 30 Jul 2017 19:39:11
If we go get Alex Sandro and AOC, that should address the lack of pace in our back line.

13.) 30 Jul 2017 20:56:38
WE can only hope that selling Matic means that suitable cover on its way. Of course the problem with saying this sale is a good deal (even if to Man Utd? ) is whether the money brought in can be used to buy addition/ s of sufficient quality.

14.) 30 Jul 2017 22:06:35
Matic still a CFC player as i type this i think.

{Ed018's Note - he's as good as gone}

15.) 30 Jul 2017 22:33:55
Confusing to see how many think we're stronger than last season. Morata suits our system more but he is no way better than costa imo. Bakayoko may be slightly better than Matic but Matic has gotten a lot of unnecessary stick from our fan base and is not as bad of a player as many say. All that's happened is we've lost depth. I know we'll get that back this window i just hope it's the right depth and some improvements to our starting 11.

16.) 31 Jul 2017 07:27:11
God help Chelsea if Matic leaves a someone doesn't come in.

Ed please any good from anywhere- no matter how small.

Can any of the Eds, or indeed poster share their thoughts on the progress of Xavier Mbuyamba?

Is he progressing well, is there plans for a loan this year? I know he came in with promise but haven't tracked his progress.

Any info would be much appreciate.

JCFC

1.) 17 Aug 2021 22:34:11
He suffered a bad injury last season and has only recently regained full fitness and started playing games so it's too early to judge.

19 Apr 2021 20:01:23
Hi eds, would like to get your insight on the below question if you wouldn't mind

Do you think the breakaway clubs though the backlash of their actions would be as bad as it is? I assume they knew it may not be well received but its clear its condemned by 99.9% of football fans.

JCFC

{Ed002's Note - No.}

08 Mar 2021 22:07:36
I don't know about you lot but Im looking forward to that one Werner goal that will open the floodgates. Only for a top drawer performance from Pickford he would have had a brace tonight.

His movement is top notch, he linked up well with Havertz and got himself into some really good positions which are all positives.

Quick shout out to the team as a whole. It's been a longtime we looked so confident and assured in possession. Our passing was really positive and everyone looked like they knew their job.

All in all a top performance against a really good team. I just need to ask, with the wins against Liverpool and Everton, does this mean where the best team in Merseyside now?

JCFC

1.) 08 Mar 2021 22:23:12
Agree with your post JCFC. I’m sure Werner will be banging in the goals sooner rather than later.

2.) 08 Mar 2021 22:57:21
At least I have never been worried about him becoming a new Morata or Torres -as long as not being relied on as a lone 9. He keeps getting into the right positions, just not taking them yet. An he has been very unlucky too actually (not making excuses) -think he has now had something like 4-5 poor VAR rulings against him so far this season (Liverpool etc) and some marginal cancels for offside (Spurs game etc. )

3.) 09 Mar 2021 07:16:30
The majority of Werner’s shots are on target. Sooner or later they will start going in.

4.) 09 Mar 2021 09:21:43
Werner just needs to be told to slow down his actions when through 1 on 1 - you usually have more time than you think in that situation - make the GK make his move first.

5.) 09 Mar 2021 11:14:57
I think we play the happy hammers in about 5 or 6’games time.

20 Sep 2020 19:32:21
Can anyone tell me about Mendy as I've never seen him play? What type of keeper is he? Is he better than Kepa (mistakes aside) are we upgrading or is he a stop gap?

Thanks in advance, oh and please no Kepa hate. I'm sure he's beating himself up enough and doesn't need us doing it.

JCFC

{Ed0666's Note - if Kepa tried beating himself up he’d miss his face when punching himself.
Mendy is commands the area wonderfully well, is a very good shot stopper and is super comfortable with the ball at his feet. I’d say he’s a definite upgrade and will clearly be you’re main keeper.

1.) 20 Sep 2020 19:53:50
Good win today 0666, won’t go into all the negatives, but will mention werner, 93rd minute and he was still running non stop, created a pen out of nothing, seems to have such a good attitude. I’m excited to see him with pulisic and ziyech and havertz running into the spade he leaves going wide,

{Ed0666's Note - there’s no doubt Werner is a baller and will cause havoc him when played through the center with Pulisic and Ziyech on either side. Oh and Hudson Odoi when he starts realizing he’s a footballer. I just can’t help wondering we did the right thing not going for Werner I’m not sure he was right for us. But yes exciting times ahead for you mate ay not be you’re year this year but next season I feel you’ll be formidable.

Fantastic signing. I'm glad we have managed to get the best LB available to us. Welcome Chilly 🥶.

2.) 26 Aug 2020 18:32:22
Reminds me of the first Roman year!

{Ed001's Note - Christ Tom I knew you were old but I didn't know you remembered back to when Rome occupied England!}

3.) 26 Aug 2020 18:50:41
Haha Ed but yes, I am old.

{Ed001's Note - at least your memory is intact though. I can't remember anything from this morning, let alone a few years ago.}

4.) 26 Aug 2020 19:19:31
It’s about the only thing that works nowadays Ed.

{Ed001's Note - I know that feeling!}

5.) 26 Aug 2020 21:50:06
lucky u Tom. I can't remember what I did yesterday. The number of times I go to another room to do something, then forget what I was going to do.

6.) 26 Aug 2020 22:01:28
It’s when you forget why you’ve gone to the men’s room you’ve got a big problem Sid.

This Haaland transfer smells of Jadon Sancho to united last summer.

Will drag on an inevitably not happen. But hey, what do i know. The only inside knowlage I'm privvy to is that my boss at work is playing away from home.

Spot on with the above comment RE: chelsea not rating players doesn't make them good Tom. Scouts opinions all differ plus you never really know how a player will develop. Chelsea get it wrong sometimes just like every other club.

I'd hope we do back kepa, there is a decent keeper in there somewhere. He's lacked confidence and had been made a scapegoat for our whole defence this year. Sure some rubbishs are down to him but what keeper hasn't Ben at fault. Look at de gea, probably been the best keeper in the world the last few years and he is a shadow of his former self this year. Let's get behind him and give him a chance.

Hear hear. I have been using this site for at the last 10 years odd and Its great to hear opinions as well as insights from the Eds. But it can be a depressing read at times with some of the negativity.

We have been spoilt over the last number of years and maybe we, as a collective almost expect success. We have a very good core of young players coming through to complement the talent we already have in the squad.

Do we need to strengthen in certain areas? Yes! Do we need to be patient? Yes! Are we going to challenge for the title in the next 2/ 3 seasons? Absolutely!

Patience is a virture and that is never more a true statement when it comes to football.

Tuchel has come in and has changed things that a lot of people on here where complaining about. Let's try to be positive in the direction we are going and not create up roar everytime we don't win. Let's enjoy it. COYB.
