Agree RVD if loftus cheek became available I would snap your hands off for him. Think he is going to be a very good player and looks very threatening further up the pitch. I read somewhere if you manage to get sarri, then loftus cheek would be the ideal candidate to play the ‘hamsik role’. From a football fan point of view, I would love to see him getting a starting spot in your midfield because he has all the talents to be a great player. Him and rashford linked up brilliantly.

Rashford was the best player on the pitch last night. I will be honest even I was taken a back how good he was. That ‘free role’ behind the striker suited him to the ground. His hold up play is not good enough to play up front alone, but given the freedom as a second striker and he can be devastating. I share your concerns about whether Jose can get the best out of him. Perhaps with a stronger team and a change of tactics, we will hopefully see this rashford more often.

Alright lads, united fan here. Just wanted to say you have some player on your hands in loftus-cheek. Thought he looked really good yesterday and deserves to stake a claim for a starting spot for you guys next season. Hope he does because I think he could be special.

I think he’s got it all really, tall, strong, skillful and can score goals when he plays a bit further up the field. I hope he comes straight into the side next season and starts a good number of games because I feel he’ll look to go elsewhere, quite rightly, if he doesn’t get game time.

Rashford was outstanding last night I thought so you’ve got a real talent there on your hands too. Whether Jose will get the best out of him remains to be seen.

Cheers, Parky. Our academy is doing excellent work. First team should start taking some advantage of it.

Spot on Jackson you guys have some serious talent. From an England’s point of view, would be great to see some of them integrated into your first team. I think jardim would be a very interesting appointment for you. I’m a big fan of his and wouldn’t mind him at united after Jose.

Hi guys united fan in peace. Good result yesterday always love a united Chelsea cup final! I just wanted to get your opinion on Jose. Do you guys regret sacking him? I understand his style of football is a problem and he burnt his bridges in his final season with you guys so sacking him was the only option. But with the high turnover of managers at your club, Jose is the only one I could ever have seen staying for an extended period of time. The only other manager I thought who looked at home at Chelsea was Ancelotti and I think he would be be a great appointment to replace conte. Although the football has been crap at times under Jose, he has instilled a strong mental fortitude in this united team and it is a clear they are improving. Am I a fan of his? Yes always have been even in his Chelsea days when he gave Fergie a run for his money. Do I think he will stay long term? I did up until the last few months where he seems to be teetering on the edge of implosion. However, it’s about time someone stood up to some of our players who are weak and quite frankly need a kick up the arse. Anyway I think you guys will be strong next year with a new manager.

Given his behaviour towards the end I doubt anyone regrets sacking him BUT you have to understand the reason he started throwing his toys out the pram and it is very much the same reason with Conte, both warned that following the title win the next season the team needed improving and Mourinho probably more than Conte was dreadfully let down and with him, buy someone he doesn't want and they will barely get a game. Mourinho likes to take the best of what he inherits that 'he' wants to work with and then replace the others with his choice, something I think he is still doing at Man Utd. You can criticise his football style but he is extremely successful and most supporters will take a 1-0 win everyday over a 5-4 defeat. Would I take him on again, without a doubt and it would not surprise me down the line that he did have another spell. At some stage he will have learned the best way to go about working with the club and the management cannot continue this manager merry-go-round as it is getting embarrassing for a major club like ours to dent their chances through lack of continuity. I would suspect there will be few that agree with me however.

Great reply mate. I agree in that Jose is a winner and getting us to 3 cup finals in 2 years is impressive. It seems managers at Chelsea operate with one arm tied around their back especially when it comes to transfers. You are clearly a very well run club who is making a lot of profit from loaning and then selling players. But it seems like it will come to a point where managers would perhaps look at the Arsenal job as more attractive due to the fact that there is more job security than at Chelsea. Up until December I thought Chelsea would be the ones challenging city but you have fallen away alarmingly. Perhaps the uncertainty over conte has forced this. I do think that Jose may end up at Chelsea for one more spell. He is a fantastic manager and I don’t understand why there is such polar opposites in our fan base in regard to him.

3.) 23 Apr 2018 17:37:22
I can understand him being unpopular with some united fans, simply because of the style of play that Joses teams have. When I think of United I think of fast attacking play, from the Best, law, Charlton era to the Beckham scholes Giggs era. I have no doubt that is what many of your fans want, and no doubt looking at the brand of football produced by your closest rivals city and Liverpool, it makes it worse.
Jose will bring success, but it is how that success is achieved that will split the fanbase. Do u want success at any cost or success playing a specific way.

4.) 23 Apr 2018 19:03:03
At the end of the day it’s a results game. Winning is the most important thing. And with the attacking players at our disposal Jose should have us playing better. He deserves another year to sort out the defence and next year he has to play more attractive football. Spurs play pretty football but bottle it. But I agree it’s our tradition to play football the right way and we shouldn’t compromise. Attractive football and winning shouldn’t be mutually exclusive. I think next manager will have a good squad to build with.

5.) 23 Apr 2018 19:51:34
My opinion on Jose is that in one off games he is the master and over a period of two or three years players perform to the standard and style he demands but after that he becomes boring and boorish.
Most fans and Club management find his pre and post match comments embarrassing after a while.
It seems that nowadays, my comments about Jose could apply to a lot of fans and owners!

6.) 23 Apr 2018 19:54:39
What I liked about Jose is he has a winning mentality and wouldn’t change for anyone, my problem was always his ego when talking about other managers and attitude towards players, if you didn’t get off on right foot then you would soon be on your way out and chucking players under the bus, and like conte has fins out not to lose games rather than win,

7.) 23 Apr 2018 21:23:05
I agree with TomB the boring and boorish Mourinho becomes embarrassing and as good as he is, let others tell him not him tell them. That said he puts a good team together both defensively and attacking and I think that is what he will be concentrating on most post season at Man Utd but he is astute to know after a period all teams need freshening up and that is where he starts falling out with clubs when they do not see it his way. When he first arrived at Chelsea he had some exciting players who defended well and attacked at pace so I don't buy into him being boring, he makes use of what he has. I disagree with Matt Martin however, if you cannot win, you play for a draw, you do everything not to lose, one point is better than nothing. There is rarely a manager who eventually does not hack off the supporters as us supporters will ALWAYS be better managers than them!

Great thread guys.

9.) 24 Apr 2018 22:02:40
There's a reason why Mourinho do not stay long with a club. He's a short term manager who assemble a group of very expensive players and over time lose idea and become very toxic when found out.
He builds his CV rather than the club.

{Ed0333's Note - and clubs still appoint him, It baffles me no end.

10.) 24 Apr 2018 21:18:54
I think looking at man city and liverpool games (mainly at their best players) you can't be not happy that Mourihno was sacked.

United fan here lads just wanted to say this could be a huge bargain for you guys. Barkley clearly has the potential just need a fresh start and to get his head down and concentrate on his football. Should be less pressure without being the local lad/ messiah and with a tiny price tag, he could really flourish. And considering the way you play and the formation, it could be a match made in heaven. With a strong midfield around him and willing runners, I expect him to be very effective. I wish him luck as I have always thought he was a talented lad and for his sake I hope he makes the most of his potential as it would be such a waste otherwise.

United fan here lads. Hazard was world class tonight. I was so impressed with him he looked head and shoulders above Neymar and the rest (apart from Lukaku 😂) . You are so lucky you have a player like him. His dribbling is mesmerising at times and it’s like poetry in motion. Him and Lukaku link up so well together and look very formidable. What a combination they make. Tibo also was brilliant today and pulled of some great saves.
