Interesting reading on the Man United banter page that Chelsea have agreed to two players arriving this summer. Obviously one being Jorginho who's already arrived and the other I'm assuming is Rugani. Ed002 also said we are continuing talks today regarding a couple of other players, so no need to panic guys! He also said we've agreed to selling three who still remain at the club. I'm assuming one is TBo but the others are anyone's guess! Just hoping it's not Hazard and Kante otherwise I might cry a little.

Saim

1.) 20 Jul 2018 14:22:11
my take on that.
golovin and jorginho - agreed
higuain and rugani talks
tbo, zouma and boga

no idea why its in my head but I had a nightmare last night and lallana was a Chelsea player hahahah.

2.) 20 Jul 2018 15:23:43
It looks like Chelsea is about to make an official offer of €50m+ for Rugani- with first option in case of a sale belonging to Juventus. Maybe that would do the deal. Who knows if Ed002 means that?

3.) 20 Jul 2018 18:41:55
Courtois and Willian could be going.

4.) 20 Jul 2018 20:02:44
From what we have gotten from the press- Hazard, Willian, Courtois, Kante, Pedro, D. Luiz, Cahill, Bakayoko etc. all have certain degree of question marks over their heads.

5.) 20 Jul 2018 20:05:29
Courtois, williams and hazard are going but higuan and rugani are coming though is painful to see hazard go but the prize I believe will be right.

6.) 20 Jul 2018 20:10:27
Drinkwater Zappacosta boga mushonda Morata Michy Giroud. question marks over the whole squad lol.

7.) 20 Jul 2018 20:20:58
I forgot Drinkwater, Giroud and Zapacosta.

8.) 20 Jul 2018 20:23:05
And Morata- this is becoming needle in a hay sack.

9.) 20 Jul 2018 20:56:13
All we know is Jorginho will not be sold this summer!

10.) 20 Jul 2018 23:30:01
Saim, hahaha. you are funny.

I think at CB we need to push hard for John Stones. We can't allow United to get him before we do. He's already one of the best CBs in the league, he's still very young and he's English! Marquinhos would be good nevertheless. I mentioned Kouyate as a good option for CM but I also like Jackson's suggestion of Xhaka.

He always seems to put in a solid yet unspectacular performance whenever I've seen him play for Monchengladbach and Basel. I know the word unspectacular doesn't sound too appealing but it is something I believe we need right now in midfield, stability and no drama (i. e. Magic with his silly 2nd yellow) .

And I agree on Griezman, he's awesome! Btw I don't know about you guys but I can't wait for Courtois to be back. Begovic has been pretty good but I can't help but feel Thiabaut wouldn't have conceded nearly as many goals whilst he'd have also shored the defence up I think. We've conceded far too many headers this season and I think had we had Courtois in goal this wouldn't have happened, he's such a physical presence!

Saim

1.) 27 Oct 2015 01:46:39
That's a great point about the conceded headers. We've given up a ton this season and I think courtois' best quality is his ability to come for the high ball.

2.) 27 Oct 2015 02:32:09
Why is Stones rated so highly on here. Yes he's a good player but he's showed he's still raw with some of his mistakes this season. Marquinhos and Laporte are both experienced and have had a lot of game time for their age and would both be better options I think. I'd personally like Marquinhos as he reminds me a lot of Carvalho.

3.) 27 Oct 2015 07:42:37
Marquinhos has been playing CL football as well for a couple of seasons now so he's used to high level football. He'd be a very good addition.
And indeed your point on Courtois is valid. Courtois is exceptional at dominating his area and snuffing out high balls and crosses. Hopefully he can return without much problems in December.

4.) 27 Oct 2015 09:35:16
Stones would be my first choice we already have a lack of home grown players plus you don't know would Marquinhos manage in PL. What we need is left back for sure (left footed off course) .

5.) 27 Oct 2015 16:55:12
I think with John Stones you have to watch Everton games week in week out to appreciate him fully. Not only is he a fantastic defender, he is a fantastic player with the ball at his feet. He reminds me of a young Rio Ferdinand ability wise (obviously not personality wise) . I can't say I've seen more than a few games of Laporte so I can't comment on him but I think that whilst Marquinhos looks like a very intelligent footballer, I have concerns that he might be a little lightweight for the Premier League. Again though, I haven't seen too much of him myself.

I've seen a rumour today linking Schurrle with Athletico with Miranda coming to us. Please tell me this isn't true ed

Saim

{Ed018's Note - sounds like some rubbish to me}

1.) This rumour is a joke, Why would you part exchange one of the most promising wingers in the world for an old and average defender?

07 Jun 2014 17:49:11
Hi Ed, just a question about Mikel. Is it likely he'll be leaving in this window or are the club looking to keep him? I ask because I'm actually a fan of his and think selling him would be a mistake! Cheers

Saim

{Ed002's Note - Yes, John Obi is expected to leave and has been the target of interest from Inter Milan.}

1.) I agree he has been excellent defensively for us if especially in big games (like ECF, against LFC recently etc), if often criticised for slowness or sideways passing when going forward. But if Mikel leaving as well as Lampard and Ramires we will definitely need more than Fabregas as replacement but would guess that all at Stamford Bridge know this. In particular Luiz and/or Ramires were great against City and LFC away, and have not seen enough of Van G. because of his injury to know how well he could do such a job (doesn't seem such an imposing physical presence). Or one of our current Under-21s?

01 Jun 2014 19:04:23
Hi Ed, couple of questions. First, what's Real Madrid's stance on the sale of Varane? Would they allow him to move on if an acceptable offer came in or do they want to hold on to him? Second, have we (or any other team) ever had or have an interest in Rodrigo Caio? Very impressive in the Toulon Tournament!
Cheers

Saim

{Ed002's Note - Whilst they don't want to sell Varane, Real Madrid are aware of Chelsea's interests and are aware the might lose him. As such they have been considering replacements.

I am not aware of interest in Ciao.}

Alright boys, now it's Liverpool City and Spurs who are the best in England apparently. It's almost as if Chelsea have started the season poorly! Keep writing us off and watch us thrive!

Saim

1.) 27 Aug 2018 22:20:24
Us under the radar is exactly what I want. I don’t want anyone talking about us just let us quietly going about our business.

2.) 27 Aug 2018 23:00:20
I'd rather go unnoticed. Liverpool and Spurs both badly choke under pressure and City won't find it as easy being defending champions.
Need to keep players fresh though, sensible rotation for cups is required.

3.) 28 Aug 2018 09:03:01
Let's quietly proceed to when champions league football starts, it would be interesting seeing two games per week in action.

25 Aug 2018 09:05:54
What's everyone's thoughts on the game tomorrow? I absolutely hate away games at St James Park it never goes well for us. However, I'm hoping with a fully fit Hazard raring to go with his first start and Morata's confidence hopefully up we can come out with a nice easy victory. Just need Jorginho to work his magic, Kante to be Kante and the defence to tighten up and we should see it through.

Saim

1.) 25 Aug 2018 09:19:36
Bogey team but usually go there slow and patient. Think Sarri will blow them away early, will neee to be careful with watching runners and second ball as I imagine they will be compact and route 1.

2.) 25 Aug 2018 10:05:10
Think we need to be careful with them tomorrow, they were quite good against Spurs 1st game of season although Kennedy was one of their better players and obviously he won't be on the pitch tomorrow. They were shocking against Cardiff though and were lucky to get a point despite the penalty miss. Wonder which Newcastle side will turn up tomorrow, as TomB said the other day though they seem to turn into Brazil against us.

21 Aug 2018 20:00:20
Alright boys, in case any of you are interested Derby v Ipswich on Sky Sports red button. Lamps managing, Mount and Tomori in Derby first 11 and Trevoh Chalobah playing for Ipswich.

Saim

Nice to hear Hazard speaking highly of RLC and calling him to stay with us and even saying "we". Now that's a real professional and someone who clearly loves the club, whether or not he wants his dream move. Take note Tbo, that's how to act like a professional. Now get out of our club.

Saim

1.) 07 Aug 2018 15:34:38
Hope we give Hazard the captaincy.

2.) 07 Aug 2018 15:48:07
NIce to hear, what with that and the Kovacic loan possibility/ probability am feeling a bit more cheerful. Goalkeeper question/ problem remains though.

3.) 07 Aug 2018 15:51:31
Me too mate. He thrived with that role for Belgium in the World Cup and I think he would take a lot of responsibility if we were to give it. I think if he stays past next summer he'll go on to be my favourite player of all time. I love the guy.

01 Aug 2018 22:22:15
Fair result in the end I would say, Arsenal stepped up second half and we relaxed a bit and offered nothing going forward. Thought we defended well all night apart from their goal where we fell asleep. Hudson-Odoi brilliant, Morata less so. Jorginho class again and can only look better next to Kante. Now to my big concern and question for you all, does anyone genuinely believe that Alonso or Emerson are good enough to start LB for us? I see teams absolutely ripping us apart down that left hand side. Not to mention if Azpi gets injured, then we are really screwed. Perhaps we could try out Rudiger and move Azpi back to LB like the Rafa and Jose days?

Saim

1.) 01 Aug 2018 22:35:52
I don’t think either of them have ever been good LBs. wing back they’re both reliable but I think they’ll get found out playing LB. Especially as your wingers need to cover and Hazard won’t do that all game.

I think rather than looking at a 9th centre back we should find a LB. I wondered the same thing, do we shift azpi over or Moses?

2.) 01 Aug 2018 22:39:49
No to moving Azpi out to LB. But feel they are our weak points. Alonso/ Emerson look very exposed in this formation.

For me, Zappa can go, Moses to back up Azpi. A left back is needed for an upgrade on both Emerson and Alonso. Especially if Hazard or Hudson-Odoi play LW and don't track back!

3.) 01 Aug 2018 23:03:45
Oh and I forgot to mention I never want to see Zappacosta and Moses playing in the on the same side in the same team ever again lol! Do love Victor Moeee and hope he stays with us though.

4.) 01 Aug 2018 23:39:25
It was a friendly with so many personnel changes which affected the balance, not sure how you could be annoyed matt. For me we have a gem in Jorginho and a future Chelsea legend in Hudson Odoi.

Ah the summer of 2012! What a summer it was celebrating being the CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE and signing the one and only Eden Hazard! Not a bad summer to be a Chelsea fan.

I expect the hold up on signing players right now is because we haven't sold the players who don't have a future with the club. For example, we can't sign anymore CMs whilst Drinkwater remains and in CB we're pretty stocked up too whilst Zouma and Cahill are still with us. I guess a RW is dependant on whether or not Willian leaves us.

I've been impressed with Jorginho defensively, he seems to read the game well.

Still want to see Leon Bailey on the right for us. A left footer who is direct would be perfect. Perhaps a centre back to come in and fight for David Luiz's place as christensen hasn't lived up to expectation so far-though Ampadu would do me fine. I'd like a young and upcoming RB to challenge Dave who hasn't been his outstanding self this season (though I have no doubt it's only a blip) and of course we need a striker. Said in the summer I wanted Michy to get his opportunity and I still do. That being said I'm not sure it'll happen. Lukaku anyone?

Mikel was a solid player. Always gave his all and was consistent throughout his Chelsea career even if unspectacular. Might I remind you of his performances in the CL semi vs Barcelona and final vs Bayern. He was unbelievably good.

Costa back to us will never happen but if given the opportunity of course I'd take him back. He's a player I'll never ever forget, so unique and such a difficult player for opposition defences!

Apparently Jorginho would've been perfect for Liverpool and he only went to us for the money! Not because his old manager is now with us, we've been the most successful English team in the 21st century and we're based in the greatest city in the world. Apparently.

Have to agree with the original post. Don't get me wrong obviously he makes mistakes, almost everyone does. But he is one of the smartest players on the hall we've had in reason times, everything he does is with purpose. I think his pace isn't the best but his positioning is good. Passing exceptional and awareness reminds me of Cesc on a good day.
