Seen all the midfielders and strikers that Chelsea have been linked with, but will like to ask eds, any interest at all in Marco Veratti or Alvaro Morata. Feel they will be splendid addition to our team. Thanks

Zeeb

{Ed002's Note - Not from Chelsea although there is interest in both and at one time Chelsea looked at Morata.}

How good is the young man today from club Brugge Charlse De Ketelaere. Seems a huge talent, anyone interested in him Eds?

Exciting time indeed being a Chelsea fan, but I have been thinking if the Coach could look to go back to a back 4 to accommodate one of our attackers. I'll love something like a 442 diamond with;
Mendy
James Kounde (If he comes) Rudiger Chilwell
Kante
Ziyech Mount
Havertz
Werner Lukaku
With pulisic and the others doing rotation where needed, I feel we would be stronger playing Werner and Lukaku up top, what do you guys think, I'll like to hear your opinion too Eds01.

Zeeb

{Ed001's Note - I am surprised you would go with Rudiger in a back-4. I always think his lack of positional sense is far more of a problem when in a 4. That is probably the one weakness in the Chelsea squad, the lack of a genuine left-sided centre-back. Someone who is truly comfortable there, as I never get the feeling Rudiger is happy there really.}

1.) 25 Aug 2021 08:15:21
Ed, I remember Rudiger saying he prefers playing as the LCB, but only in a back 3.

{Ed001's Note - back 3 is totally different, you don't need to be as positionally strong and, most importantly, on the ball you normally get more time to switch it onto your dominant foot.}

2.) 25 Aug 2021 09:08:26
Been saying for ages Rudiger lacks a sat nav bit to be fair I agree with Ed that’s in a back four and he has been playing very well in a three.

A natural left footed CH would be a fantastic addition to our squad but it’s not going to happen in this window.

Ed001
Have you any idea what was responsible for Saul drop in form and why Athletico want rid of him?
Presumably if he was at his peak his wages wouldn't be an issue and he wouldn't be on the market?
Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - Atletico simply can't afford his wages and to stay within the La Liga cap.}

4.) 25 Aug 2021 10:36:52
I think we won't see a back 4 often this season, because that raises lots of problems for us.
I agree about Roudiger and I think Christensen doesn't do very well in a back 4 as well.

5.) 25 Aug 2021 11:21:51
Thanks Ed001 I meant to post that below on the Saul thread.
Have you any idea what led to his drastic drop in form in the last 18 months?
As an example some have said he lost his confidence which led to a bad drop in his form, but not why.

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea, I have not seen any evidence of that. I was under the impression he was in and out of the team due to money, with appearance fees being high.}

6.) 25 Aug 2021 11:32:34
Kounde is apparently just as comfortable with his left so he could be the LCB surely?

7.) 25 Aug 2021 11:49:36
This is high praise indeed fuser but he is a bit like JT, comfortable with with either foot but predominantly right footed.

He is very cool under pressure not afraid to take risks and not afraid to take people on plus he ain’t slow.

8.) 25 Aug 2021 11:51:26
Ed001
I have just read an article in which he says he has been struggling mentally for a while, but no reason mentioned.
He then says that this has manifested itself as a lack of confidence on the field and consequent loss of form.
He also mentions people not helping the situation without being specific.
Sounds like he will need to rebuild his confidence and form wherever he goes which makes him a risky signing If AM insist on a commitment to buy after a loan.

{Ed001's Note - sounds like he needs a move to me.}

3 or 5 in the back is a longer term strategic decision by TT and Chelsea.

I have been a long time reader on this site and occasionally post, I must appreciate the great work the Eds are doing. Thank you.
I just want to say how glad the look of Christian Pulisic is making me feel, knew he was a good player but watching him do his stuffs in the last two games has been thrilling. I think we Have a fantastic player in our hands for many years.
I am hoping that we go all out for Kai Havertz, this will take us to another level.
My dream team for next season looking at current performance and finance would be:
Kepa
Acpilicueta Christianson Rudiger Alaba
Kante Kovacic
Havertz
Ziyech Werner Pulisic

If we want a left back, we should just get Alaba if he is available, he is the real deal for me.
Keep Willian too, he can still offer us something especially when the inexperience of the younger players are exposed.
Hope am not dreaming too much, just get it done Marina.
Sorry for my long post too, just excited about the future.

Zeeb

{Ed001's Note - very welcome Zeeb.}

1.) 01 Jul 2020 08:48:34
I remember when Ed001 was raving about Pulisic a while back, what a player he is!

{Ed001's Note - he really is some player, would have loved Liverpool to have signed him. Great attitude too.}

2.) 01 Jul 2020 10:00:28
Same here Ed, really wanted him at Utd but not to be. He seems grounded, got the right work ethic along with the talent. Chelsea looking strong for next season with Pulisic, Ziyech and Werner.

{Ed001's Note - he has a good background with his parents, that helps a lot. That is why I have a lot of admiration for those that manage it without that help from parental backing. It is a huge obstacle to overcome.}

3.) 01 Jul 2020 11:53:21
Agree, too many talented players out there who end up wasting that talent, Dembele being one huge example.

Also, i know we're on the Chelsea page Ed, but what do you think of Utd recently? 15 games, 11 won, 4 drawn, 38 goals scored, around 10 clean sheets. Look slightly better at the back compared to the first half of the season and much more fluid going forward. Think Matic has played a huge role in all of this, amazing player.

{Ed001's Note - difficult to judge anyone on this odd season as there was no pre-season, so some teams are not ready. United are one of those who came back ready and are benefitting from that. They do look much better, though is that because they are or just because they have had time to get used to Bruno? He is definitely the key difference. Fantastic player.}

I kind of wonder why we ain't interested in a Draxler or Mahrez. I feel we need a natural left, fast and tricky left winger to really perfect what we have at the moment. Fantastic game at the weekend. thanks also to all the Eds for all the info. It's well appreciated.

Zeeb

1.) 21 Aug 2017 18:08:40
Completely agree, marhrez would be great and knows league, and people judge him on when Leicester self destructed forget how hazard performed, confidence was low but still has quality, draxler isn't the best in any position but can play almost anywhere in midfield, not sure where his strongest but his available and more than good enough for squad,

2.) 21 Aug 2017 18:50:41
Draxler is the 'very' brown sugar.

3.) 21 Aug 2017 19:50:42
They're both good players but I wouldn't sign another I'd give either Musonda or Boga the 4th spot but I'd sell Willian for either of Deaxler or Mahrez as they both have better end product.

4.) 21 Aug 2017 20:47:35
Not sure why Willian so often knocked on this site, I'd have him over Mahrez or Draxler albeit both can be excellent on occasion, though former at least can move from brilliance one game to relative obscurity the next. Willian gives 100% every game, never complains about coming off bench, has scored plenty of key goals, and was our stand out player of 2015-16 season.

5.) 21 Aug 2017 21:05:42
True Locobakayoko. We should have a future plan for our young players cos most of them are really good potentials. I have been watching Loftus Cheek; i think that guy has a future if he stays fit.

May be sell Willian next season and get Draxler but the thing about good players is that when they are available u just have to go for them. So if a player like Draxler becomes available this summer- i don't mind going in for him.

6.) 21 Aug 2017 22:26:20
Surely it's not about having one or the other but competition and good squad depth. Willians best hear for me was when Pedro came in and gave him competition for his spot .

7.) 22 Aug 2017 06:47:33
Apart from greater experience I cannot see what benefit Draxler will bring when we have Boga and Musonda knocking on the door; I have always thought him over hyped. Mahrez has talent but he has that suspect temperament when things are not as he wants them and I do not see him in a Chelsea shirt. There has been a distinct change of attitude since Sunday's excellent but heavily flawed win and suddenly people seem content with 'adding squad players for depth'; we still need a couple of top players by month end.

8.) 22 Aug 2017 10:39:51
more like when pedro came and took his spot after him although it took pedro 12 months to do it he got der.

it's really being a long time doing a post on here but have being a strong follower of the site and thanks to all the Eds for their info, want to say that, now that we have lost out on Lukaku (wasn't really excited about him signing anyways) and Moratta perhaps look like staying put at Madrid, we should perhaps go for Martial if United still wants Matic, would do the the trick in our attack for me but i know he has not been mentioned by the Eds as one of our targets, but Alexis Sanchez would be my dream signing this summer if we could get him. Common Chelsea. excited by the Rudiger signing, hope it works out for him.

Zeeb

1.) 10 Jul 2017 11:53:02
Man. Utd is not going to sell to us. And we are not selling to them (anymore) .

2.) 10 Jul 2017 12:11:29
Antibot, my guess is that Matic WILL join United as soon as we confirm Bakayoko. This is business not the school playground - don't believe the media hype.

You really do sound like a spoilt brat MagicalEden or whatever you call yourself. if you took time to read the post it says "SOMETIMES" because Pedro is definitely the best we have for right wing at the moment.Still feel Kennedy and Traore should be given opportunities to play on the right wing for their development and not at left back as the season progress. simple. it's a banter page man. Perception differs.

Just give him the number 7 shirt has I don't see Ramires staying beyond this season. Hazard will be our number 10 for a long time to come.
