Hi Ed002

Some rumoured interest in Sane?

Potentially very good, very fast and would suit our counter attacking style.

Have Chelsea looked at a deal for the player?

Thanks.

Zouma89

{Ed002's Note - Schalke rejected bids from Spurs and Stoke for Leroy Sane in the summer of 2015. A number of clubs from across Europe have had the player watched in the first and reserve sides towards the end of last season and at the start of this - including Manchester United, Barcelona, Sunderland, Manchester City, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen, PSG, West Ham and RBL. Do not discount a bid from Manchester City in the summer after an approach was pushed back in January - where they were loathe to meet the potential asking price, even though they were willing to make a very significant offer. Know Manchester City know that a bid from Barcelona is imminent and that will be immediately followed by a bid from Real Madrid as the three clubs battle over a summer move. As to whether he is ready just yet, no, probably not. There is the potential to yet again see a great talent squashed (at least for a year or two).}

Agree with Ed (and thank you for the info) . From what I've seen he's obviously talented, but I don't think he's fully ready for the top level in football.

Hi Ed002

Can I ask, what the hell is going on with China?

These fees which are being reported (Ramires, Martinez, Texeira) now £57m for Oscar?

I read that the new president is a huge football fan and has changed football policy, signed a new huge TV deal etc. Can you give any clarity on this recent surge of power and how you see it developing over the next months.

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Since China opened up it has thrown a massive potential market in to the mix for professional sports (not just football, but there are other growth sports as well) and a number of Chinese companies see the potential for significant income form the game. Chinese money is already flooding through football with ownership and/or investment in clubs as diverse as Espanyol, Den Haag, Sochaux, Atletico Madrid, Slavia Prague and significantly, City Football Group. City of course owns Manchester City, New York City, Yokohama F Marino and Melbourne City - and are looking to expand in to China and South America. For years the professional game in China was under a cloud of corruption (including match-fixing) and the Chinese, and to be fair FIFA, have worked very hard to resolve the issues. The game is on the up there and they have the money to pretty much do what they want. They now a shift will be coming in Europe and I would expect to see further investment in European sides - there is one organization looking hard at Germany and another at Italy. They of course have to work within certain legal ownership frameworks and that will restrict investment in certain countries. Do not be surprised to see an English side be taken over by Chinese owners in the not too distant future. Meanwhile, the profile of the game at home is increasing and the market to be tapped significant. I spent several months in Hong Kong working in both 1988 and again in 1990 and it was clear then that the mainland needed a step change and it could get leverage over so much - since then that has happened. Six months working out of Beijing in 2005 (until they pretty much forced me out) showed that changes were happening - since then I understand from colleagues who do visit that it has moved on a lot.

The coming years will see lots of changes. You know about the pan-European breakaway proposals, well there is going to be a counter-proposal backed by UEFA to try and save their own skin which is soon to be tabled. There will be more global City Football Group style collectives appearing. There will be growth in China. And so it goes.}

1.) 05 Feb 2016 11:21:37
So there goes FFP then.

2.) 05 Feb 2016 11:21:37
So there goes FFP then.

{Ed002's Note - FFP is nothing to do with China.}

So with 3 weeks until the end of the transfer window and 4 days until our 1st match in the league! We have some strengthening to do.

As far as im aware, this is who we have been linked to:

Defence:-

Toijan
Sandro
Van Dijk
Sanches
Aurier
Sidibe

Midfield:-

Drinkwater
Oxlade-chamberlain
Barkley
Sanches
Candreva

Forward:-

Young forward?

With the transfer deadline approaching it is unrealistic to me to expect numerous signings. I think buying Van Dike and loaning Christensen to Inter makes sense for all parties involved.
We get a proven CB to provide competition for Cahill, this also give Moses competition from Rudiger and Dave.

With the loan of Christensen to Inter this would hopefully sweeten the deal for them to sell us Candreva which provides much needed winger depth.

Lastly I would like to see us move for Ross Barkley, always been intrigued about his potential but it is exactly that. With some positional help and work rate I think he could become a top box to box midfielder.

Just my thoughts on the matter, I do also hope the small squad gives players like Boga and Musonda a chance as I have always been big fans.

We haven't been linked to Toljan or Sidibe yet but I would take either of those as they are improvements on what we have.

2.) 08 Aug 2017 18:10:35
Christensen is as much proven as VVD, just in Bundesliga and not in PL. And guess what, Bundesliga is a very good league. I don't buy the PL proven nonsense. Only thing that matters is whether players can adapt culturally, but with Christensen having already spent a couple of years in England he should be fine.
Christensen has also played in CL already, and against quality opposition, so he's actually pretty proven for a 21 year old.

3.) 08 Aug 2017 18:53:49
Rudiger cover for Moses? Wtf.

4.) 08 Aug 2017 19:37:15
Rudiger has played a lot of his career as a right wingback and centre back, a 10 second google search will verify that!

5.) 08 Aug 2017 20:16:25
Ed002 also mentioned that Conte targeted Rudiger as a RB who could cover CB rather than the other way round and instead of the media linked Danilo.

Regardless of the result or some perceived errors I think Luiz passing display has been outstanding! They'd be signing the plaudits if it was Bonucci, should have 3 assists!
I think in a back 3 he would shine, love his passion and aggression.

1.) 20 Sep 2016 21:39:08
Hes a brilliant passer don't get me wrong but we bought him as a defender and its that side that let's him down that's why psg were ok to let him go because in marquinhos they have an all round better player.

2.) 20 Sep 2016 22:21:43
Well said Zouma89.exactly what I was thinking. His distribution is first class, nice to see you know your football mate.

3.) 20 Sep 2016 22:26:14
The thing is that luiz still haven't done any nig mistake. Most goals we conceded this season are because of cahill and ivanovic.

4.) 20 Sep 2016 22:40:49
Hes only played 2 games so time will tell and he made one tonight its only thatbegovic saved him all 3 aren't good enough its that simple.

5.) 20 Sep 2016 22:41:07
Hopefully we get to see a back four of Azpilicueta, Zouma, Luiz and Alonso once everyone's fit.

6.) 22 Sep 2016 12:09:51
Luke is here to play the 3 man defence conte loves.

I'm rather confused about our purchases and links in the last 24hrs

Re: Alonso/ Brozovic/ James

Alonso seems a very decent well rounded player, jack of all trades master of known, he's also not very athletically gifted. Feels he's another stop gap purchase!

Brozovic is a high energy midfielder who once again is a jack of all trades engine guy. No outstanding qualities and just a squad filler for £20m+ who isn't starting caliber!

Lastly James who is an over priced YouTube sensation. He's a luxury player who lacks physical talents and struggles with a high tempo game. £50m+ for a player who wouldn't fit Conte's philosophy would be madness.

The thing that is worrying me is that we still seem to be buying medium quality level players who don't jump out as first names on the team sheet.
Also we've decided to keep Cheek and Aina this year which I'm happy about. But with the purchases of Alonso and Brozovic along with the return of Mikel and Zouma they won't make the bench : (

We should have been targeting the likes of Bazoer, Alaba, Dembele, Gabigol and given youth a chance in my opinion.

Zouma89

1.) 30 Aug 2016 21:31:46
I want top squads you have to have top players on the bench, challenging their team mates. Look at Oscar challenging cesc. Something to fight for. Under Jose the starting 11 is just that,

2.) 31 Aug 2016 08:14:42
On the one hand I don't think James fits into the type of player Conte seems to be targeting however perhaps with a solid back 6, he could Allow our front 4 to ignore the defensive side.

I understand what your saying but I think our approach should be 1st team 11 only now. We have squad depth in every position (Aina, Zouma, Ake, Chalobah, Loftus-Cheek, Fabregas, Willian, Boga, Musonda, Bats, Abrahams etc) .

If we want a WB it should be Alaba/ Aurier, CB Van Dijk, CM Verratti or Bakayoko, Wing Dembele or Greizmann and ST Dybala.

We have a lot of fringe players leaving and being sold in the next 6 months i. e. : Ivanovic, Mikel, Oscar, Terry, Van Ginkle etc we will have the funds to be in for the class of player mentioned above.

I like Willian and think he's a good player but I understand people's concerns about him in the final 3rd!
The problem is I don't see any available upgrades on the market st the moment without having to pay £60m/ £70m/ £80m which is definitely not going to happen in January.

I'm assuming we are still pursuing

Koulibaly
Maia
Gabigol or Lukaku

Fingers crossed 👌.
