Ed001, what do you think is Cesar Azpilicueta's best position on the pitch?

{Ed001's Note - now his legs are going, right side of a centre back trio. Might do well in the centre as well.}

Agree0 Disagree0

What about in a 4 man defence?

{Ed001's Note - he is better at right back then. If you play him as an old fashioned right back, who sits rather than charges forward, then it allows more freedom for the midfield and left back.}

His height will be an issue at centre-back in a 4 man defence, right?
In La Liga, he might thrive, but in the PL height is absolutely necessary in a CB.

{Ed001's Note - yeah that's the big issue, though he might get away with it due to his positional sense and intelligence.}

Ed, on the subject of Dave, have you done a profile in him yet?

{Ed001's Note - there is an old one done by an editor that has long since left but no, I haven't. I have added him to my list for you.}

Thanks mate. I managed to find the old profile, kinda interesting that no Ed really seemed to rate him at the time.

{Ed001's Note - I have always been a big fan of his. One of the best old-style right backs of the modern era. I do feel he was wasted playing left back far too often to allow a far inferior right back to play instead. I really never understood that decision.}

He was the best left back in the league when he played that position. Not bad for a right footed player.

Ed, can it be said that Azpi is the best right-back in the world from a defensive point of view alone?

{Ed001's Note - not right now no. He has lost his edge and Wan-Bissaka is much better at stopping crosses and in one-on-ones now, though Azpi is still excellent positionally.}
