I guess if we do sign any plait will depend if sell or release players from our current squad.
I assume, Pedro, Giroud and Alonso are the most likely candidates to leave in January, so I suppose we will be looking at players to fill those places.
I also don’t think it will be easy to sign quality players in this window. For example I can’t see Leicester selling Chilwell in this window but I would happy to be wrong.

Its likely to be a bore fest on here with people making endless lists of transfers targets that just are not realistic in January .
Top players like Chilwell simply won't be aloud to leave short term and Leics might convince him to stay if they are in the CL next year.
The squad we have is good enough to get top 4 if Frank can keep them all motivated.
After a season it will be clearer how the kids have developed and what we need to get closer to Citeh and the Scousers.

Put the right money on the table and Leicester will sell Chilwell. That said, the right money may well be a silly figure in January.
I have heard that Chilwell is a Chelsea fan and his social posts do seem to support this. For anything under £50m, he's a steal as he'll fill the role for a decade or more. That said, I imagine Leicester will want twice that.

Ed001, I think you kind of missed my point. I'm sure if someone offered say £100m for him; they'd take it. But it would take a stupid figure like that. Look at Maguire for instance - silly money offered and they milked it for everything!

I think players like Chilwell will have to wait til the summer. If Leicester get into the CL Chilwell will have a tough choice if we were to go in for him but if I was Chelsea I’d say to him it was now or never, as it is a position that we need to Reinforce especially if Alonso wants out. Don’t think it’s something where we could wait 18months for him.
I think January we’ll see Giroud and possibly Pedro leave and replacements bought but otherwise I don’t see much activity unless someone we want comes onto the market. Possibly Alonso if he pushes for a move but doubt we’d see him replaced
GK- Kepa needs to be at least given the season. Caballero a decent back up.
RB - good options with Azpi& Reece
LB- Emerson good enough to see the season out as first choice with Azpi and possibly Reece deputising if Alonso leaves
CB- with Rudiger coming back from injury we have 4 options and the rest of the season will see who can cement a starting berth and whether we need to invest come the summer. AC is probably 4th choice atm but HG. With the influx of academy players it’s possible we could see him leave in the summer
CM- well stocked with RLC, Kova, Kante, Jorginho with Mount able to drop back in if required. Also have Barkley who I see leaving at the end of the season
AM- A position I see as being slighting weak. Only Mount being a real option with Barkley, RLC able to deputise but possibly one for the summer to look into
Wide forwards- Two potential stars and two elder statesmen in their final year of contract. If Pedro were to leave in January then a replacement would definitively be required. The other 3 favour the left more than the right so definitely need to target someone who prefers the RW. A replacement for Willian can wait for the summer if he doesn’t sign an extension
Forwards- Tammy imo should be our first choice regardless of the transfer ban being lifted. He’s still young and not quite as clinical as we need but he needs the space and time on the pitch to grow. I’d expect Giroud to leave and a replacement bought (not a player we’ve been linked with but Mandzukic could be a decent option) . Batshuayi could offer decent back up til the summer but I’d see him replaced then unless he pulls up trees between now and the end of the season.

Lol ed1 us there any chance we can sign messi mid season too? Probably more likely. I think Chilwell in Jan is a dead rubber debate and Chelsea know that.
