Emerson took a lot of stick for the Mahrez goal vs Man City.

I'm afraid Chilwell has not been much better today and pretty much made the same mistake in allowing Mahrez to cut in from the right and get a shot away on his left. His not the Ashley Cole we all expect but better than what we have. However, as Ed1 says for me it is Gaya from Valencia.

Agree2 Disagree1

I don't think a LB exists who can cope with Mahrez if he is left with so much space and little or no support from a midfield player.
I thought Azpi should have started against Citeh precisely to deal with him cutting in.
Whilst I think Chilwell is an upgrade on our LB he certainly isn't woeth £30/ 40m more than Emerson or Alonso.
Defending is our achilles heel but this has more to do with the managers tactics than the players defensive skills.

IMO Turvey you are spot on with you analysis about the lack of support Chilwell got from the left side of the Leicester midfield. He showed Mahrez the line as you would with a player who prefers to cut in onto his left foot but very rarely did we see him get any help to close the gap inside.

This also happens a lot on the same side in our defence and obviously some fans jump all over the defender.

{Ed001's Note - he also stood too far off as he was clearly terrified of him. It was rank amateur defending by Chilwell.}

Agree Ed1 that was my main concern. It just got me thinking whether all the hype around him is genuine. No doubt the guy has ability and is an improvement on what we have atm.

{Ed001's Note - if he keeps working hard he will be amazing, but if he misses team meetings and is late for training too many more times, then it could cost him.}

Didn’t know he had these issues. It would be a shame if he waisted his talent through a poor attitude.

Nice insight there ed1.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate. The thing with Sancho is that he told a teammate something along the lines of he had made it now when he got his England cap. Since then he has been consistently late or even skipping meetings and training sessions to the point he was given a public reprimand and dropped. Only time will tell if he needs the warnings.}
