I know people will say he's indispensable, world class, the first name on the sheet, most important and best player etc, etc.
But Kante was poor today, and not for the first time this season either. He wasn't effective in the defensive or attacking phases of the game, it just completely passed him by.
It may well be how he's being asked to play, but he looks like a square peg in a round hole. He may well be an indispensable, world class, first name on the sheet, most important and best player square peg - but it doesn't make him fit any better into the round hole.

Agree, I think he’s on the decline. If Madrid offered Hazard money I would be tempted to sell and replace him with a piper holding midfielder.

Have a read of Lampards comments after the game on the 5th stand. He names Kepa, Rudiger and KANTE as the stand out players Today.

Think Kante was poor today he was so far forward at times I was baffled. I hope it’s just form too but i don’t think he’ll fit in with Franks style of play eventually.

While I'd agree that some of Kante's latest games haven't been the best, I think he played well today! - Just as you say, G8 - one of our best players today.

Unfortunately we never had a player that played to an acceptable standard other than Kepa.
