Well with a few hours to reflect there is one key thing I have taken from this game, and that is we do not have enough players who have what I'd call a defensive instinct. The only two I can think of are Azpi and Kante. No one else seems to have a real knack of sniffing out danger when it matters in the frenetic bustling moments of defending. Christensen, Rudiger and Alonso do not seem to have the ability to smell danger in key situations in the way Cahill, Terry, Ivanovic etc could. None of them have the natural instincts and at the highest level it will cost us points as proven tonight such as, christensens inability to look over his shoulder on numerous occasions; and Rudigers corner incident and not anticipating yarmolenko would shift to his natural left foot to shoot. I appreciate signing Kai Havertz may be a once in a blue moon opportunity but realistically West Ham put 4 past us tonight if you include the VAR goal, I'm not sure we could out score them even with these signings. I also understand quality cb and gks may not be in abundance at the moment however I feel surely there must be someone worth pursuing yet no names seem to crop up. Our lack of defensive intuition at key moments will continue to plague us until we find a way to solve this issue.

What was the most annoying was that we actually had a big team out there lol, we had Christensen, Rudiger, Alonso, Barkley and Tammy over 6Ft tall and then on corners Azpi’s marking Soucek and Tammy is on the post lol and he’s 6’3 I think it was mental. Kante should be on the post or Kova. Them other 5 should have been dealing with their tall players.

think we need to play Giroud now, if only for the fact we are better defensively at set pieces, when he is in the team.
