Let's just take a look at Nick Pope's season. He had 15 clean sheets (2nd in the league) . He's also had to make 170 saves (4th most in the league) and 52 high ball claims (by far the most in the league) - so he hasn't exactly been an observer plying behind a team bossing possession and games.

He can be a bit flamboyant with his saves, but he has a great save %, is excellent at collecting high balls in the box and is bang smack in the middle of his prime.

I think he'd be an excellent signing for the club.

ed01 doesn't rate him, so that's good enough for me.

Although I do rate Pope, I do wonder how his concentration would fare in a team the gave less opportunities to the opposite team. Sometimes that can have an effect on GK's. Still wouldn't mind him in the net for us though.

Keeping for Burnley and keeping for an open attacking team such as Chelsea are completely different challenges. Burnley sit incredibly deep as a team to limit high probability scoring opportunities (hence the high save %) . As a result teams attempt to break them down by playing crosses into the box (high claims) and long distance or high volumes of lower probability shots (high save totals) . This isn’t to say he couldn’t be a good keeper for us, just that his statistics are a product of the system he plays in.

Interesting post Tk adds depth to way a keeper can be assessed.

Great point of view, well put, TK. But the fact he has faced so many high balls into the box, and dealt with them, is a big plus for me.

Kepa's feet being rooted to the goal line under high balls is a huge part of our defensive problems.
