I was strongly against Declan rice, couldn't see why when we have Ampadu out on loan, last month of season I came round to the idea, but what is getting on my nerves is rumours we are after him to be a cb, how are people seeing him as a centre back, has he played there much for West Ham?

100% not a CB. If he were to move and be played there, you're wasting his main strengths which are passing, reading the game, cutting passing lanes etc.
If Kante were to leave then I would go for Rice as a CDM but as a CB I'd prefer someone of experience to lead the back line.

He played as a CB in our academy. Also he would bring a much needed versitality to our team.

Played there as a youngster and does still occasionally play there when West Ham have injuries. Always seems to do a good job there but I feel like he wouldn’t want to sign to play CB especially as he’s been getting into the england team for a while in midfield.

Rice in as a DM as he’s a specialist and use Kante as rotation. Kante’s injuries are a worry so he doesn’t need to play every game if we get Rice. In big games we can go Kante and Rice holding with Havertz given more freedom and then against teams we struggle to break down at home we can go Havertz, Kante and Mount. Not to mention RLC. We’d have great options so let’s just hope we get it done.
I’d take Vertonghen for CB. Put him with an athlete in Zouma or Tomori and we have a couple of leaders in the team then. Just need a keeper after that I can wait for a LB although I’d prefer to see Maharashtra given more minutes he impressed me very much against Grimsby this season albeit poor opposition.

Declan Rice is a good player but with the level of ‘poverty’ / problems that our central defence is experiencing at Chelsea, I am afraid Declan Rice is not the answer- not even close to what we need to fix the problems in our central defence.
For the role of a defensive midfielder, Declan is ok but there are better and cheaper players out there (Denis Zakaria for instance) that can take us to the next level. I strongly advocate that we need masters in central defence to reduce the ‘defensive poverty’ in the team- not a jack of all trades.
Besides his price tag being ridiculous, I will strongly be in support of Chelsea signing Declan Rice as a versatile (third) option if we had two very good central defenders (ie defensive stability) already in the team.

Zakaria isn’t better than Rice. Besides we need leaders and Rice is one and quality.

Rice - versatile, leader, reads the game well, tackles, intercepts, can pick a pass out. Hmm, sounds like a young JT. Yes he’s not in thAt class. YET, but I’d feel more confident with him at the back.
If Kante stays, surely he plays CDM, with Havertz and Mount either side, Ziyech, Pulisic, Werner up top.
