Kante is going to be more important this season and show how good he is more than ever with the attacking players we have, his our only world class player and should be built around him, next summer we give him the partner he deserves.

World class when he's chasing the ball in a two man midfield next to like a Matic or Drinkwater who sit and hold. He's not world class at the base of a 3 man midfield.
Still 10x better than Jorgi in that position but not the long term answer if frank wants to play that system. that's why i'd sell him for Rice but also try to slowly bring through Ampady who seems to have bulked up a hell of a lot to be fair from the training pictures. Ampadu is actually more suited to that role than Kante because he won't run off he'll sit back and mop up play.
Unless we are playing 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 there's no point keeping Kante. Sell now before his value drops and bring in Rice. Gives us a leader and an aerial presence for set pieces also which is a massive issue for us.

Strongly disagree that he can’t perform at the base of a 3. After the restart Frank was using him there a lot prior to his injury and he looked the best he had since conte was in charge. I have to imagine we’ll be utilizing a number of 3 midfielder systems with him expected to operate similar to how Makalele did under Jose.

He’s the player you should, whilst you’ve got him, playing to his strengths, no question. Every other club in the prem would take him off you right now.
I can imagine how utterly immense he’d be in Liverpool’s midfield for the next few years whilst you were still playing catch up.
And swapping him for Rice 🤦â€â™‚ï¸

TK i agree we was better defensively but he's still not great when pressed. just look 10x better cause its not Jorginho getting overrun there.

Would be absolute madness to let Kante go unless he had become continually injury prone or was desperate to leave. He offers world class defensive midfield quality that can now be harnessed in tandem with Kovacic behind what would seem likely to become a world class attacking unit with highly creative AM in Havertz. We also need a core of experienced - been there, done that (so good also to get Silva in) - players among a generally young side.

To win titles you don’t sell your best players. Kante is our best player. Simple. Would be an absolutely horrendous decision to sell him to buy Rice, and would undo all the good work we’ve done in the market this summer.

Ed Rice is a more natural holding midfielder than Kante, that’s why Lampard has been using the word ‘transition’ after he trialled him back there first game post lockdown. Play him in a two next to Rice and he’d return to his first season form here.

I’m gobsmacked, kante is our best player and the fact Sarri ran him into the ground even when half fit and he only played 50.% of our games last season is no need to sell him. He would of had time to recover and with attacking players around him he will prove how important he is, I can’t imagine ziyech havertz Werner if played in left will be tracking back, Next season kante beside aouar or camvaniga ( spelling ) would highlight him even more, this season kovecic / Ampadu/ Gilmour will be enough,

WC68, I don't agree that he should be sold but I have a slight suspicion Lamps somewhat agrees with you. I feel Frank is trying to build something different that won't cater to a destroyer type player. He does offer energy going forward with his ability to carry the ball forward at pace but I think with Havaerts coming in that might not be needed as much. The question is do you then have a Gilmour, Kova or Rice type of player in there that can sit, tackle and pass or do you have Kante in there winning every second ball and nullifying counters. I think we're spoilt with options atm and I'm so excited. I say keep Kante and forget about Rice unless he's being bought as a CB. We have Kova and Billy and plenty of other options atm. Get a keeper in quick and were sorted.

WC68, as the great John McInroe once said "you cannot be serious".
Kante (hopefully prior to this season coming) is the 1 world class player we have! So he got an injury or 2 this season, rubbish happens, get over it, he's still world class.
