Continued; also has the option now of playing using his FBs further forward as both can get back quickly if needed. I think our CBs are starting to show improvement and the penny might have dropped with a couple of them of what's needed. You can definitely hear more chatter back there compared to last season. I could hear both Kepa and Zouma a lot last night. When Silva is fit it is going to strengthen us massively imo. I think there's a lot to be optimistic about and fans that are posting about other coaches available and slating lamps are a joke. You don't have a clue about football lads.

Agree1 Disagree0

We all have different opinions dadubliner. To say people don’t have a clue because of those opinions is just wrong.

Not good to judge on just two games but I can see an improvement in our defending. Maybe it’s the addiction to our coaching staff.

21 Sep 2020 08:22:40
Addition not addiction. I’m getting worse!

I'm not a joker dadubliner my opinion is I don't think lampard is up to it
I will however support him 100% whilst he is in the job t
That doesn't mean I haven't a clue about football
He consistently plays players out of position
I don't think he has picked the same 11 twice in a row
Changes formation every week
And our team has hardly ever kept a clean sheet
We lost a record amount of games last year in premiership
Yes transfer ban bringing youth through and all that
But we have been poor after lockdown and it is still continuing
Yesterday and against Brighton we haven't created a chance in open play have been poor defensively in both games and a lot of players don't seem to know there roles in the team because they are playing out of position no direction
The top teams pick 1 formation and basically stick to the same 11
We haven't done that since sarri left
I hope he turns it around but I fear another ranieri tinkerman
But as I always say just my opinion.

I think Lampard prefers a 4231 formation which is understandable and after that perhaps a 433/ 343. But we really don't have the necessary prices in the midfield to play that way. Lampard doesn't see Kanté as a #6 whom stays behind and doesn't run forward, he can't play the Makelele role. So I think the addition of another midfielder is must, perhaps after selling 2 of ones we have.

I dunno Tom, they're literally wanting players and coaches out after our Brighton friendly never mind last night. What is that? There's a reason the games are that high scoring lately, none of the teams have had a decent pre season under their belt and it's showing. As for last night, I though we were well organised and only let down by individual errors. I think sitting was the right thing to do as our attaching players with the exception of mount and Timo have no fitness, it's clear as daylight. Who do you bring on, CHO? No thanks he's shown nothing when given a chance, throwing him in to be shut out won't do anything for his confidence. Any other coach last season would of thrown their toys out the pram and got sacked 4 months in with us probably 10th. Lamps did unbelievably well and the club saw that thank god, that's why they've gone out and got him his players. He's the real deal, look at the way he speaks and analyses the game, he's top. There's a reason some fans call us plastic and it's because of eejits like we know who wanting Kante out and Lamps out and Ruben out. Then wait Ruben plays a stormer one game and he's better than Messi . It's a joke I stand by my initial comment that they don't have a clue about football and should stick to career mode on FIFA.

If I remember correctly the ed's insinuated Sarri ran a lot of the squad into the ground and didn't manage their fitness at all (Kante the main example) so on top of everything Lamps has inherited a team that needs to be looked after/ rotated so he can keep them fit.
Agree he has got things wrong tactically but he is 1 season in at Chelsea and only a couple in his career so I say give him time. Surely that is better than another management merry go round? I'm so bored of trying to get one impact season out of a manager before moving them on, at some point we need to bite the bullet and give someone a chance.
If, at the end of the season there is no improvement then fine but calling for changes after 2 games is ludicrous.

dadubliner, we live in a society that wants results and success instantly. Some fans only post when we lose and some post in anger after every loss or poor performance. That for me, is just understandable passion.

The poster or posters who use different names to support their argument are just strange but we know who they are and we can choose to ignore them.

21 Sep 2020 09:25:11
I've never changed my name Tom
And yes I'm passionate and on a banter page we can politely view and express our opinions
Mine is written above if you don't agree that's fine by me
If Frank Lampard was not such a club legend I don't think everyone on here would be so patient with the manager and that is fine with me
We have a run of games now we should win so let's judge again in a month's time
as I said I hope he can turn it around.

21 Sep 2020 10:23:10
I NEVER said you had changed your name Gianfranco but we all know posters that do.

Lamps should be open to criticism. I have been critical of him and the other coaches on several occasions.

The defensive organisation was very poor last season and although it’s early it looks that has improved. Maybe because of the new coach.

I don’t like us playing with a false 9, even when Hazard played there. I think it sends out a negative message.

I don’t like players playing out of position but on occasions I can see why that has happened.

Criticism is healthy and. should IMO always be welcomed.

21 Sep 2020 10:41:32
Gianfranco, you do not have a clue mate. You're saying nothings changed since last season after 21 days into the new season after only a 14 days break and 2 games in, without all our signings integrated into the team. That's what I mean about not having a clue. You've no idea how long it takes a body to recover, how long it takes for aerobic and anaerobic capacity to be built back up after a break. How long it takes for injuries to heal, and generally how much practice and repetition it would take a group of players to perform well together. That's why I'm saying you're clueless as you live in a FIFA career mode fairy tale where you make 7 signings and your team improves and starts winning 7-0 every week. You're also making stuff up in your own head, what players has lamps played out of position all the time? The lineup also hasn't changed all that much, certainly not more than any other team trying to meet the demands of the season with injuries, rotation etc.

GOLA -

We’re on game 2, not game 32. More than half of our new additions haven’t kicked a ball for us yet and everybody is in full meltdown mode. Lampard this, Kepa that. Everyone needs to relax a little and have some faith in the process.

With almost 50% of the squad to be integrated, what were you expecting against Liverpool with 10 men in the 2nd half? Will you blame Lamps for Christensen sending off? Will you blame Lamps for Kepa's error?

Even with our main 5 playing liverpool is tough. They are probably the best attacking side in the world. We lost to Liverpool witj 10 men and not MK Don's. God sake.

21 Sep 2020 12:14:33
It's early days boys, no need to panic, I'm sure we will be just fine, squad looks great and everyone is nearing full fitness from what Lampard is saying by the looks of it.

21 Sep 2020 12:30:18
Gola is reacting as if this is Fifa Career Mode or Football Manager.

Some fans need to get into the real world and digest this is game 2 and accept that we had 10 men out there. Don't expect miracles with 10 men against a relegation contender nevermind Liverpool.

Patience.
