Sorry if I'm going off piece but I'm going to be positive again, I read an article about 6 months ago on Chelsea and lampard, and it detailed that we had a 3 year plan in place to get us back to top of the shop and one of the best teams in Europe like between 05-2010, in this plan it said season 1 was let lampard almost have a free hit and introduce academy players under a transfer ban, and if we finish top 4 it's a big bonus, season 2 sign quality players improving the team and.

Agree0 Disagree0

It would be nice to give a manager some time but that’s not been something we have been noted for and we have had significant success.

Anyway, let’s hope that Lamps is the exception.

{Ed001's Note - I always think managers should be given 3 full seasons as a rule to get their vision across.}

I posted to soon on accident, yeah apparently there is a 3 year plan season 1 steady the ship and introduce academy players, and challenge for top4, season 2 add top players to mix with academy players, all the while selling the players that lampard doesn't want to raise more cash, and season 2 is finish top4 and challenge for trophies, season 3 is to sprinkle 2-3 World class players into the team final jigsaw pieces if you like to push on and win some title's so this season objectives if the reports are true is to finish top4 and challenge for trophy, that's quite subjective though would we consider getting to both the fa cup semi final as challenging for it or does it have to be the final itself, same with the league Cup?

Yes Cat, and some of us posted quite often about that plan last season - esp. when we had some disappointing results - as well as during the restart games. Tom B absolutely right that CFC have not been patient with managers, and I guess all bets are off if we have a really poor season now, but would think that otherwise he should and will be given the 3 seasons. Has to take time for all the new players to gel, and we can drop quite a few points in that time, then perhaps one or two additions in next window to complete project.

Let's see how things look when all players fit, played in right positions, and considerable game time together under their belts. Remember how long it took Klopp to get the LFC he needed to win the league? He took over early October 2015, and LFC came 8th that season; 4th the next two seasons, 2nd the following one before winning this past season. But LFC fans and owners were patient with him and reaped the rewards.

Frank did pretty darn well in his first season against relatively modest expectations; this season tricky to predict cos of C.V., empty stadiums, plus for CFC injuries and so many new players, but would hope to see the foundations set now of truly competitive team. Sorry Tom B, I don't think we will be Champions again this season, but will hope we can mount a better challenge and at least see signs that are clearly on the way back to the top again!
