Can someone tell me please, in the last three seasons how many games has Kante played as DM or as I like to call it a holding midfielder?

{Ed001's Note - I think I have seen it once, towards the end of last season. He certainly never played there for Leicester.}

Thanks for the information Ed.

Why do some posters keep saying it’s his best position?

Have they seen something that all his managers haven’t?

{Ed001's Note - because the media keep calling him a holding midfielder. The problem is that the media is full of morons these days and they don't have a clue what they are talking about. It is just clickbait comments to stir controversy that the media want rather than actual insight. It is quite sad really as it would not take much to stop dumbing things down and instead inform people and help improve their understanding of what they see.}

If I didn’t send a post saying thank you Ed I apologise.

Thanks for the prompt response as always!

{Ed001's Note - you did mate sorry I was just working on the review of the day article so am a bit slow to reply! And you are very welcome.}

Ed, what type of qualities do you think a midfielder needs to have to be the best partner for / bring the best out in Kante?

{Ed001's Note - one thing is he needs to sit there and not get drawn out of position, for starters, so that Kante can have the freedom to do what he does. The key is the play making quality, Kante is good at a linking up short passing game, so you need someone with the range to make the switch of play and hit the longer balls when needed. That ability to hit an early ball to get the team in behind is key to allowing Kante to chase up behind and press the play if your team loses it. That is why Jorginho doesn't work, he is too slow to spot the pass. It is not just that he is slow on his feet, he doesn't have the vision to pick the early ball. That was why it worked so well with Drinkwater, he didn't dilly dally, he got the ball and played it early knowing where Vardy was going to be making a run. Then Kante would be backing up the play in case Vardy didn't get to it. You have that Vardy-like player now up front with Werner, you just need more players who can play him in early.}

Thanks Ed, there's players in the squad who you'd think could perform that role. Loftus-Cheek comes to mind with his passing ability. The trick, I suppose, is also finding the player who won't get drawn out of position. Early days for Gilmour, but he can certainly be effective in there.

{Ed001's Note - Gilmour does look like the long-term option.}
