Tough not to be excited about how the team is taking shape. It appears the coaching staff have done the right thing, hit the brakes and got the defence sorted. The additions of Mendy, Silva and Chilwell certainly appeared to have helped. The clean sheets are building up and we have that solid foundation to build upon.
The central holding midfield position may not be Kante's best position, but he can do a job there for the team, and the three man midfield looks the way to move forward. Out of our current midfield options I expect Kovacic and Gilmour to join Havertz and Mount in being more comfortable in this system too. Jorginho looks likely to be the player it negatively effects.
Ziyech starting to show what a classy operator he is and I'm sure the regularity with which Werner finds the back of the net will continue to grow. It's nice to have the option of playing him either as a nine or off another striker, on that note I thought Abraham put in a good, selfless performance Vs Burnley.

Kovacic is perfectly comfortable in a 4-3-3 formation, I think we will see the best of Kovacic as a midfielder in a 4-3-3 formation.

The beauty of Mason Mount (over Kovacic) is that: apart from being tireless, he’s got better end product (assists and goals) and can press more than Kovacic, but Kovacic is more press resistant, better dribbler, better at retaining the ball and has better box to box runs.

he is better at retaining the ball under pressure but is is not as positive and risk taking as mount or havertz which is why they may lose possession more.

I just think Lamps will rotate the squad and that’s why I think Christensen, Dave, CHO and Kovacic will all play on Wednesday.

We should rotate for Wednesday with the amount of injuries lately, but winger wise we have Cho pulisic and ziyech, ziyech just back from injury so we need to be careful. Pulisic injured, leaves Cho, then we have mount and werner who can play wide, werner needs a rest and mount isn’t best wide, havertz needs a rest, Jorginho and kovecic available and all this with Sheffield United few days later., Tough calls for frank to be honest.

Don't forget young Gilmour when back from injury. He would be a good addition to a 4-3-3, so would Gallagher after a full season in the EPL.
Our squad is looking great for the next couple of seasons TBH with plenty of options.

Kovacic might not score goals but can replace Mason Mount in a midfield trio; remember Kovacic played under Mauricio Sarri in a midfield trio when Chelsea used 4-3-3.
There’s no shoehorning Kovacic, he knows the ‘Mount’s’ position well and can replace him anytime.
