Here's an interesting question which I can't find an answer to if Chelsea fans had an option. I think Tammy is developing although I don't ever see him being complete enough to lead the line for Chelsea. So would you rather Option A or Option B

Option A - Move Werner back up top

A lot of fans want this but he actually hasn't played this role as much as Chelsea fans believe. Yes he's fast and can play off the shoulder but it's not like he hasn't gotten many chances from the wing still. His hold up play is left a lot to be desired. Werner has missed some glorious chances coming from the left in recent games. Against Sheffield Utd he missed an easy lob from a shot in the centre one on one. Newcastle cut inside then fired wide and fluffed a one on one later on before the assist. Not to mention a sitter against Rennes so just cause he's playing left wing doesn't mean he still doesn't get chances he could have easily had another 4 goals in them 3 games I don't think moving him centrally will make a difference I actually prefer him from the left he scored a good goal there against Burnley and yesterday but unfortunately offside. Yes he's limited but his pace and movement is a cheat code from out wide. Play him off a proper target man who can hold the ball up like Giroud and I think he could be great and get even more chances. Tammy's link up play doesn't do it for me.

Option B - Sign Haaland? / Play Giroud?, move Werner to LW permanently

People are suggesting this a lot as well. Massive downside is what would this mean for Pulisic and CHO's playing time? I want CHO to make it here as I think he has class potential but if Frank isn't going to play him what on earth is the point in keeping him here? Pulisic is injured 30% of the season so him and Werner could rotate in that position so to speak. I think RW is sorted for years to come with Ziyech. Him and Werner have a very good understanding it's just Werner has missed big chances off Ziyech's passes lately I. e Sheff Utd, Rennes and he needs to start putting them away.

I think something that needs to happen next two games is Giroud should be starting the lad deserves it. Get Werner speeding off him and I think them two could be deadly.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we should definitely play him as a striker along as pulisic is fit, I think Werner would have played striker every game if pulisic is fit. I just don’t think there is anyway you can leave pulisic out of the starting line up as in my opinion he has the potential to be the best player in the prem.

Hopefully he stays injury free and get some games under his belt.

{Ed0666's Note - I think he has the potential to be one of the best players on the planet let alone the prem

You rate Pulisic that highly Ed?

{Ed0666's Note - I think he’s a fabulous player with an enormous ceiling mate. He comes from a super astute, sporting family from Pennsylvania who have groomed him for stardom but with humility. The kid is gonna be huge.

I rate Pulisic massively but his injuries are really starting to wind me up. I don’t doubt his quality as he’s only 22 but his muscle injuries are a big worry I just hope he doesn’t end up like Robben did for us because he’s really got it all. They do say availability is the best ability. Hope he can overcome them and show us what he’s capable of.

I’m gutted CHO hasn’t got more minutes in his absence. Lampard’s treatment of him has been massively unfair considering the way Chelsea fans reacted to how Sarri didn’t play him.

I’m honestly somewhat surprised this is a question. Werner is best utilized when he constantly remains on the shoulder of the last defender threatening to run in behind (think Jamie Vardy) . By asking him to drop deep to hold the ball up, you are allowing defenders the time to drop into space which closes his opportunity to get in behind. Playing balls into the channel and allowing him to run onto them while the defenders sprint back to their 6 yard box is a much more suitable method of advancing the ball while playing to his strengths. Asking him to play on the wing will limit him as he’s expected to drop to cover the opposing fullback which again takes him further from the opponents box. Obviously haaland would suit any team but Ed has been steadfast that his future is mapped out and we aren’t a part of it.

{Ed001's Note - it does depend how you play him on the wing though Tk. If you play him in the way Salah or Mane do, then there is no reason he can't use his pace in behind.}

That's him at Madrid then.

I strongly think Chelsea’s team is still taking shape, we are yet to see Pulisic, Werner and Ziyech blend together. I think after we see those three play many games together, then we will know which step to take next in terms of which players (or not) to bring in next.
