First off, I though Everton did well last night - especially as they'd been on such a poor run of results. The back four of CB's were all particularly good.

I still believe that the utility of some players is a strength in our squad. But, shoehorning Havertz into a wide position at the moment, is clearly doing nothing for his confidence at this level. I think has has to play centrally, either as an eight or a ten, and needs to be eased in a bit more. Any attacking position was easy for him in Germany, it's different here - it's more aggressive here and he needs to learn to deal with that. Throwing him in at the deep end is not the learning experience this lad needs.

I agree with every point your post has made “J”.

Havertz had a poor game but let’s not rush to judge, he will be a quality player for us for years to come.

I agree, but unfortunately Lampard is putting him in a position where he's going to be judged.

I like how Klopp manages signings, eases them in and makes sure they're ready before giving them regular starts. There were alternatives to starting Havertz out wide yesterday.

I can’t remember who the poster was but someone suggested Emerson as the wide player in our last champions league game.

I agree J. I don't think we should have really shoehorned Havertz into a wide position yesterday. I also feel Werner isn't as impactful as a winger too. Both of them were really poor. Confidence must be low in the🇩🇪 camp.

Personally taking Kovacic off for Gilmour was a mistake too. Kovacic was the only direct player we had yesterday who was willing to take players on to create that space we needed. Abraham on the wing was never going to work. I thought Frank got his substitutions wrong unfortunately.

We go again Tuesday 👊 💙.

Emerson on the wing was one option as was your idea J - that I for one thought was a serious possibility - of playing 3 at the back allowing Chilwell and James greater freedom to play higher up and ghet their crosses in and/ or get themselves in behind the Everton defenders

Havertz will be a great player for us and would also think his best position is as an 8.
