Plenty of debates on social media about Frank Lampard "in or out". The In's calling the out's plastic and so on. One interesting comment read that Frank Lampard is different to previous manager's and he should stay for his 3 year project because his Chelsea through and through and he cares genuinely whereas the others had no genuine love for the club especially when we were going through poor patches during a season.

Do we have fans that think like this generally? With any manager imo, we need to separate the player legend, the hero from the manager. Interesting thoughts.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Shak.

Lamps the player will always be a legend and Lamps the manager should be judged in that sphere.

I always understood it to be a project and some did mention three years. If that is the case, I hope for a change the club sticks to its plan.

Frank is dividing opinions amongst fans. Some say sack him others say give him time. Those who support him say give him time drawing an analogy with Klopp and Liverpool. Klopp already had a track record as a coach which Frank hasn’t. They also contend he is a novice manager and will make mistakes and will learn on the job. If Chelsea fans were asked : we are appointing a coach who has potential and will do his apprenticeship at Chelsea for 3 years who wasn’t Lampard, what would the reaction have been do you think? We keep hearing about a project. It would be good to know what it is exactly. We are no better than last season after spending 200 million plus. The new approach appears to be lump it into the box and hope for the best. The most annoying thing is the post-game interviews where if we win they were a hard team and if we don’t they were a hard team. I accept there are no easy games in the Premier League but really. Leaving aside Liverpool and Man City there are 4 or 5 other teams who are better organised than us. It will be a struggle to get into the top 4. Very frustrated!

Can I ask why tom.

Great Post Jimbo, hard to argue against some of your posts to be fair.

29 Dec 2020 19:57:34
Yes you can.

a) I think Lamps will be a successful manager and I want that to be with us.

b) I’m fed with the constant management changes, although some would argue it hasn’t hurt us.

c) i bought into the project idea in the full knowledge we were starting with a bang average squad (finished 4th) but willing to except it would take time.

d) I think we will achieve Champions League football YET AGAIN this season and I will support our manager.

You won’t believe this gola but I read a post recently that blamed Werners poor first touch on Lamps. You couldn’t make it up.

I think Lampard has mis-managed Werner and yesterday was the 1st sign of him trying to rectify the situation which goes down well in my books. I think if the City game can be postponed then it gives us enough time to practice and get this going with Werner up top.

Thanks Shak. I have followed Chelsea all my life through thick and thin in late 70s when we were in the old 2nd division and Eddie Mc Creadie was the manager and in early 80s I remember being in East Stand when the attendance was 18000. People may not agree with what I say but no one is bigger than the club- except Roman of course 😀.

I’m so sorry I didn’t respond to your post Jimbo,

You have in my opinion, made some very valid points but just as a very small example of this seasons improvements
Just remember what it was like last season every time we had to defend a set piece.

I was sh•ting myself at every corner.

29 Dec 2020 21:31:21
Again Tom, that point you you made about set pieces is spot on mate. We've improved drastically in that department.

29 Dec 2020 21:49:24
Tom B
You are right we have improved defensively which is good. But when we have a midfield of Koviac, Kante and Mount where are the goals coming from, Frank more than anyone should be concerned about that. It’s good that we can score from corners but do we really want to rely on that. It’s lucky for him that we are playing in empty stadiums. Whatever Come on you Blues!

Jimbo I agree in recent games we have been poor at opening teams up fro open play. The midfield players seem unable or reluctant to get beyond the forwards to create space
It is a concern.
