It takes nothing away from our poor performance all round, but I feel it right to say that Leicester were absolutely brilliant last night. I can't help but like them, plenty of footballers in that side who are a joy to watch. But I can't help but look at the way they set up and question why we aren't doing so in a similar way?

There are similarities between Werner and Vardy, with experience being the main difference.

Any pairing of Pulisic, Ziyech or Hudson-Odoi can easily perform to the same standard as Barnes (who I think is a terrific player) and Albrighton.

Havertz has all the ability, if not currently the same application, to play the number ten role like Maddison (top player, scandalous he doesn't play for England) .

Mount and Tielemans (another player I really like) are similar players in the number eight midfield role.

Our fullbacks are very similar to theirs, best when getting forward. We both have decent enough CB's, whilst for them Wesley Fofana caps off what has been amazing recruitment over the last couple of years.

The one player of theirs I haven't mentioned is Ndidi, we don't have a Wilfred Ndidi, and that's something we need to correct. Rice would be the player is opt for, as I see him as being better on the ball, but Ndidi would be an amazing signing too.

You can't look at the two sides last night, the players on the pitch and others in the squad who were available and think our problems are with the players available. I actually think Brendan Rodgers would do an amazing job with this squad.

“J” They play as a team are well organised and they work hard.

They are all the things we should be doing with our eyes closed.

Lamps has to take a look at himself as well as some players. It’s his responsibility.

Brendan Rodgers is a good manager. His liverpool side had his identity, yes they were naive in the way they lost the title which is still viewed poorly. But his learnt from his mistakes and his done a MASSIVE job at Leicester. Its hard to argue they are not a top 6 side, they have been pushing for the top 4 under his leadership.

Great post. But I think the main difference is that they play their heart out every game, full of energy and purpose. Meanwhile we are just walking around the pitch with backward passes and a lot of crosses.

I think that efforts been hammered home by Rodgers. Lack of effort by the players has been used as an excuse by Lampard on a few occasions now, what's being done about that?

Lamps has to take responsibility for effort, team selection, tactics and discipline.

The corner yesterday was like watching school boy football and I can’t believe this was spoken about pre-match.

The second goal is just not good enough at any professional level but I repeat, they were not the only moments of concern.
