Last season I made several comments about some players mental weakness in particular at set pieces.

I also said there was a lack of organisation and awareness. I put this down to poor coaching and lack of player leaders.

I've looked again at last nights game and for both of the Leicester goals the same problems were evident. There were also problems on other occasions as well.

A lot of these issues should be resolved on the training ground IMO.

Last season I said Lamps needed help. I haven't changed my mind.

Let's hope that help arrives soon.

As a rule our set pieces, both defensive and offensive, are vastly better than last season. By all accounts much of that is down to the coach we brought in from Wigan. These issues may be creeping back in, but bad firm tends to bring out bad habits.

Good points J but good professionals at this level should not be switching off.

Anthony Barry arrived from Wigan and it has to be said we have improved at set pieces, which apparently is one of his specialities.
The surprising thing is that he is yet another rookie PL coach who was on the same management course as Frank.
The defensive shambles against Leicester wasn't helped by yet another new pairing of two players who are not the best defensively in Reece and Rudiger compounded by Kovacic wandering around aimlessly in front of the back four.
I have never understood why the club would entrust our fortunes to such an inexperienced team and that includes Cech.
Infact the blame for the current situation sits squarely at there door and not the managers.
Where I do think the manager has been both idiotic and arrogant is his refusal to have an experienced No2.
Its really hard to understand how such a bright guy could make such a basic mistake.
We simply can't afford to wait why he and his mates gain the experience necessary to manage our club properly.

A very interesting post-match interview with Maddison who said: 1. Rodgers had said that Chelsea switched off at set pieces; 2. Basically, you would only make such lazy mistakes once under Rodgers or you wouldn't be playing.

One would hope that Kovatic and James (and Ziyech v Man City) have had rockets up their asses from Frank but I have the feeling that Frank just doesn't have it in him to be laying the law down to players.

I think James could well be missing for a few games. He is is a talent but work in Progress.

I would also love to know who was given responsibility to help Pusilic at that corner?

From a coaching point of view, it would have to be the nearest man - that would be Kovecic. It would not be Abraham as he would stay near post because of his height.

But this should all be worked out on the training pitch - it is basic - someone was not doing their job and that points to Kovecic.

I’m not sure it was Kovacic and my guess is normally it should be Chilwell but he for some reason he was marking Evans and that also seamed strange.

Anyway, it was school boy organisation.
